Anyone else find Vejas really uncomfortable?

DP bought me a pair of Vejas for Christmas and I absolutely love them but they’re so bloody painful!
His seem to be a lot softer but the pair I have have a really hard/sharp tongue that comes quite far up my foot and cuts into my skin. The only way to wear them would be to wear ankle socks which I’d obviously rather not do!
Are all the women’s styles like this?

I have to fold the tongues down on my V10s (sort of in the middle of the tongue, under the laces, so that the top end sticks out a normal amount). This makes them wearable, but they are far from my comfiest trainers (even well worn in, I’ve had them for about 2 years), and I wouldn’t buy Vejas again.

I have a couple of pairs and find them really comfortable. But my first pair I did trim down the tongue with a pair of household scissors. Easy, free and unnoticeable solution!

I spent £100 on a pair and was so convinced they would be fine I wore them outside on the first walk. I had rings of cuts in the crease of my ankle where the tongue had rubbed. They are so desperately uncomfortable I can’t believe people say they are!!

If it’s just the length of the tongue, tie the laces behind the tongue - thread through the top holes inwards rather than outwards and tie on top of your foot - pushes the tongue upwards old skool hip hop style (I have to do it with my Adidas).
I had to send back my beautiful Axel Arigato trainers for being so uncomfortable (rock hard heels that come up really high)

I have a pair of Campos which are comfortable and the only tiny bit of discomfort the first couple of wearing was from the tongue. I bent it over and tucked under the laces the first time and the second time tucked it the other way. That softened it enough so,now they are fab. I have narrow feet and bought my usual size. I also have a new ( xmas present) Veja Rio Branco which are the most comfortable pair of anything I have ever worn BUT I had to size up as this style comes up small unlike all other Veja shoes. They are so comfortable I have to force myself to wear something else. I also have a pair of air and brace roxy trainers which are also fab and these 3 are my top 3 trainers ( I also have stand smith, jigsaw, whistles, Adidas samba, vans and converse).

I think it depends on your foot width and arch and definitely worth trying. The tongue softens fast and they do look good ( IMO) but do not keep uncomfortable shoes!

I think it depends on the style, I sent for a few pairs and some were comfy some were awful! There was also a size discrepancy between the styles.

I did what @MatildaonaWaltzer did and tied the laces under the tongue and had no more issues.

BalaamsAss · 30/12/2020 20:29

I have small Esplars and they are so comfortable. Far more comfortable than my Supergas which are pretty much redundant now.

I think they are technically kids’ esplars but I love them!

Oly4 · 30/12/2020 21:14

Yes they are horrendous. I swapped to Supergas

LynetteScavo · 30/12/2020 21:29

I've just bought some campo's and yea the tongue is long, but it only took a couple of wears to stop feeling it. They're so comfy, I usually wear leather converse and don't like Superga at all (too heavy) the only pair I ever bought have hardly been worn. I'd happily buy another pair of Vejas. Maybe it's because I have large feet so my legs are a long way from the top of my foot Confused

Happymum12345 · 31/12/2020 22:03

I find mine are very comfortable, but I have been wearing them with tights-probably not the look you’re going for!
