Hello - let's hope we get a bit more glamour this year and fingers crossed for some tiara watching....

Lovely baby.
I'm not keen on the name. Phillip would have done nicely.
Isn't Eugenie so like her father's first cousin Viscount Linley ?

paradyning · 20/02/2021 20:09

@JollyGreenGiantess

Beautiful little chap and I’m sure he will grow into the name.

Not a fan of the headband (sorry HRH)

It's very Boleyn. The photo angle makes it seem more so!

How do we think August is pronounced? Like the month or OarGUST?

MaudTheInvincible · 20/02/2021 20:43

Apparently it was the midwife who was there to discharge the baby who took the picture, so maybe there was a bit of a mad scrabbling to get hair ornamentation done and the first jumper from the pile of laundry in the spare room. I like that it all looks a bit uncoordinated and imperfect, that's how life with a newborn is for most people or maybe just me 👶

I always like Jack's smile - he really goes for it, like Grin

MaudTheInvincible · 20/02/2021 20:44

Ooh I'd go for OarGUST I think

I was thinking the same! I've never noticed the resemblance before. I'm not keen on those big headbands.

Takes me back to those first photos of me & DH with our DD.
Totally in love with this little human (as borrowing Eugenies's words) but completely shell shocked too!

megletsecond · 20/02/2021 21:22

It's a lovely picture.

paradyning · 20/02/2021 21:37

It is lovely. He's a squish

mathanxiety · 20/02/2021 21:41

I love the name. It harkens back the Georgian era as well as Albert.

Headband not so much, but who cares really - I know I wouldn't have looked that put together for weeks.

BobbinAround · 20/02/2021 23:14

He's beautiful! 💙

Not keen on the name (or the headband) but I love the photo taken by the midwife, and the lovely, natural-ness (if that is even a word) of the whole thing.

In the chaotic, sleep-deprived world of a new mum I'd have been lucky to be wearing clean pants, never mind having photos taken that would be released to the media.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 21/02/2021 01:11

It is such a lovely natural picture.
I hope Great Granny & Great Grandpa can get a quick cuddle soon with baby Auggie/Gus.

Ninkanink · 21/02/2021 06:36

I love the name. It’s a good name with lots of history and heritage. I thought Eugenie’s comment about the name(s) was rather touching - she’s obviously quite worried for Prince Philip.

August is quite common (as in used regularly, not ‘common’) in Scandinavia and Germany.

It does come from the Latin Augustus.

Ninkanink · 21/02/2021 06:42

He is a beautiful baby, isn’t he.

MrsRockAndRoll · 21/02/2021 16:22

Beautiful baby

Let's hope MNHQ are on the case and delete this nonsense.

Hey guys.
I know this post is irrelevant to the question but I can’t find any posts about it. 😍
I’m thinking of getting into keto. I heard it’s a great way for parents to lose weight. What do you think about keto? I found this free e-book on youtube and I just want to make sure it's real, if I can use these recipes to lose belly fat. 🤪

Here's the link for the Free Keto Recipe eBook

What do you suppose those carefully chosen emojis are meant to convey? Why start with 'I know this post is irrelevant'? If you're going to spam, why bother to acknowledge your post's irrelevance in advance? Honestly, sometimes I despair for the human race, when we can't even manage to post rubbish in a non-shit way.

Ninkanink · 21/02/2021 20:49

Yes quite. And leading with ‘I couldn’t find any posts on keto’ Hmm just makes you look really thick.

Anyone who watched the Scandi version of The Bridge would be familiar with August 😩
paradyning · 21/02/2021 21:21

So how is it pronounced then??? Any ideas?

Maireas · 21/02/2021 22:20

I'm hoping ow-goost!

So we have Baby Tindall & Baby Mountbatten-Windsor to look forward too. Though I think little M-W might just come first.
Looking forward to the names.
I was imagining if I was Royal yesterday whilst I was doing the washing up Grin & what I would call my 3 baby princesses. (How your mind wanders when you're bored or doing chores)
I'd have Alexandra Victoria Beatrix
Olga Elizabeth Eugenie
Sophia Louisa Maria

Can't wait till we get back to normal & can have our fill of royal fashion & style again.

paradyning · 21/02/2021 22:43

That's what I have in my head too. Ow-goo-st
