Please help!
I desperately need new skinny jeans, I only have two pairs, one of which now has holes in! The holey ones are river island molly from years and years ago and I love them as they fit so well! I bought another pair of molly last year in the same size but they are terrible, go baggy after half an hour of wear and look/feel loose.
I have had Topshop high waisted before but they went baggy around the crotch and again looked awful!
Not being able to use fitting rooms in clothing stores is rather frustrating so I'm trying to find a pair online but have no clue, please help!!
I tried various m&s last year but again I didn't like the fit of them.
I think maybe I need something with a bit of elastic to stop them going baggy when wearing?

I'm going to be a bit controversial and say that actually you don't need skinny jeans. They're well on their way out of fashion now, personally I'd get some straight ones (everlane are really good, or if you give some info on your shape others will recommend specific makes), they won't lose their shape and will look way more current. If you miss skinnies for tucking into boots occasionally / dog walking, the Uniqlo jeggings fit everyone and are really soft and comfortable (also good for working from home).

PinkDaydreams · 18/12/2020 20:27

I'm a size 10, 5 ft6, yes I like wearing them tucked into wellies and boots. I used to wear straight cut many years ago, I suppose I'm so used to skinnys that that's what I'm used to seeing myself in now.

Next 360 are fab and don't go baggy with wear!

minnie465 · 18/12/2020 20:33

You might need to order different sizes to try. I'm a size 8 in the dark blue ones and a 12 in the black Confused

TheFlis12345 · 18/12/2020 20:35

Uniqlo. They are the only jeans I buy these days. They have a nice level of stretch and don’t bag at all.

Are they known as something else please? Googled but the pair that came up not available. I've typed 360 into next site but nothings coming up :(

These ones. I'm just after seeing a lot of sizes are sold out at the minute though

Laquila · 18/12/2020 20:57

You might like the M&S Carrie, which comes in various colours. They're pretty true to size.

I also like the Next high-waisted ones which I think are called Hypercurve.

I agree with a pp that skinnies are on the way out but they're undeniably practical and we're just so bloody used to them now! I do like a nice pair of mom jeans though.

Untangled87 · 18/12/2020 20:57

Asda’s Wonderfit jeans are my favourite. They’re high waisted, they’re a very soft and stretchy material, so they’re really comfortable and not at all baggy. They always sell out really quickly online, but they’re restocked quite frequently.

Sickoffamilydrama · 18/12/2020 21:03

For years I've lived in skinny jeans and boots being on S&B and seeing all the looser styles on people I decided to try out some pairs I ordered a load from Next and just tried a load of different styles. I now have some next High waisted flares and some Boden slim legged belted waist as well as some skinny ones but it's been great to branch out into other styles.

Evanna13 · 18/12/2020 21:19

I am also size 10 and 5"6. I like the uniqlo jeggings.

OublietteBravo · 18/12/2020 21:21

My favourite skinny jeans come from Gap.

Shadow1986 · 18/12/2020 21:23

My favourite skinny jeans are Jack wills skinny jeans in waist 27 (I’m also a size 10)

Yes those were the ones google linked me to. They're only £24 so I just presumed that was a sale price and they've now sold out

Asda?! I would never have thought to try Asda, thank you!

I think I've tried the m&s Carrie but I can't remember what it was about them that weren't right.

I'll get looking at gap and Uniqlo and the next hypercurve.

To those saying they are going out of fashion.

No other style looks as good tucked into Boots.

Yes yes to this! Straight jeans tucked into boots look baggy.

Mom jeans make my bum look really saggy, they are very unflattering on me.

Agree with others about the Uniqlo “jeggings” although they don’t call them that. Calling them jeggings does them a disservice, they happen to be pull on but they are styled to look just like skinny jeans. They don’t go baggy and they don’t fade and they cost a fraction of the price of many other options

PinkDaydreams · 19/12/2020 08:19

Thank you! The word 'jegging' puts me off but I'll give them a go as they seem to be getting a lot of love on here. Also going to try Asda as I'm going in today anyway.

But tucking them into boots is also out of fashion. The truly fashionable have been out of skinnies for the last couple of years, so change is definitely coming for the rest of us now too. Sure, none of us have to follow trends (though this is the Style & Beauty board), but do you remember how odd and unflattering skinnies looked when they first came in, and how they seem standard now?

I think that is what's changing, sure they're fine for daily wearing or if you love them, but they're also quite constricting and will be very ageing if you wear them out (whenever that happens again) so I think that for anyone buying new, you might as well get something with more likely future wear in it.

PinkDaydreams · 19/12/2020 16:46

I like long boots with skinnies. I can't pull the skinnies over long boots and straight leg look baggy tucked into a boot and don't look good over a boot, well not on me anyway.

beakyboo10 · 19/12/2020 18:09

If the Next 360's are sold out you could try the Next Hypercurve skinny jeans They are high waisted but super comfy, I have to buy them in a long (I'm 5ft5) and like Minnie465 mentioned they just don't go baggy.

PinkDaydreams · 19/12/2020 20:27

I'll give next a try too thank you! I'm trying to think of places that are easy to take returns back as I hate with ASOS the (very long) wait for a refund.

Derelictwreck · 19/12/2020 20:49

I was thinking about this 'skinny jeans are so out of style' thing the other day. Standing on Oxford Street in Central London and 90% of the jeans I could see on my age (20s) were skinny Confused

So they might be out of fashion in magazines and catwalks but the young haven't been told!

PinkDaydreams · 02/01/2021 14:26

Can I ask about the fit of jeans please and get some advice! Why does the back gape a bit? Fit perfect everywhere else but gapes on the back, I'm wearing a pair of next and river island around the house and both of them do it.
