Walking date : dress and trainers?

Just this really, I'm going on yet another lockdown walk and I want to wear a beautiful dress but need to be comfortable enough to walk for 5 hours! Mini dress, cardi and supergas with parka? Does that sound like it would work?

Will superga reallymgive you enough support for that long on your feet?

And assuming UK, it could be quite damp and chilly - is it a long parka?

Depends where your walking. I would think you would be better with fell walking boots or approach shoes in this weather with sodden muddy ground. Your trendy shoes will be ruined and you will end up with sore wet feet.

I’d be wearing walking boots and jeans.

I really wouldn't wear a dress. If it was city walking I'd wear jeans and ankle boots or trainers with a nice jumper and coat. If its more out in the open countrywide I'd wearing walking boots as everywhere is very muddy and wet right now.

Decent boots probably better. Supergas aren't really designed for walking for 5 hours - they're heavy, offer no support and get soaked through. I was walking into and around town for 2 hours, today, and wore ankle boots with a supportive insole because it was pissing down and I didn't fancy wet feet.

5 hours?! I’d wear jeans , trainers and a jumper. I say this as someone who lives in dresses!

Another vote for jeans and boots for me. Walks are so much better with the right clothing and footwear.

I had a walking date today. I would not have worn a dress - it is cold!

I wore Uniqlo Heatech skinnies, thermal vest, slouchy jumper, fur lined but fitted jacket and cashmere fingerless gloves. Footwear was sturdy boots and walking socks.

He wants to see me again 🙂

A mini dress in winter!?

If you don't have hiking boots these are great, they are so light, comfy and waterproof and not chunky (and not just for snow).

I only want to wear a dress because we are hardly seeing each other due to lockdown and having wore jeans and a jumper last time, I want to sortof remind him of how I can look!

It will be a city walk and I've done it before for 6hrs in supergas. I was planning on wearing a floral mini dress, cardi, thick tights and trainers, and parka or nice coat depending on rain?

Supergas sound bonkers for a 5 hour walk. Why would you do that to yourself?! They're terrible for your feet.

I've had a lot of walking dates (I started dating someone just before the first lockdown). To be honest, it feels like we've walked everywhere by now! We're usually out for 4-5 hours so I always wear something comfortable and with decent soles. Sometimes that's trainers (proper trainers, not Superga/Converse etc) but now it's winter, I usually wear some very substantial (and on trend) boots. He calls them my"bovver boots". I just ignore him. They're comfy, have thick soles and I can wash the mud spatters off them. I wore dresses sometimes when we were walking in the summer but it's bloody cold and often raining / windy now. You really need to wrap up and dress for the climate.

At the moment I wear leather (or fake leather) leggings a LOT as they keep my legs warm, I can move freely in them and they also show that I have fantastic legs. But I met him in my gym so seeing me in leggings is hardly a novelty. I would LOVE to wear more dresses or skirts (and some 'real' shoes) but it's just not very practical outdoors in December, even for city walking.

I wore a maxi skirt (with the boots of course) a few weekends ago and regretted it at the point when we were sheltering under a tree from the torrential rain in the park and I really wanted to sit down for a few mins. The rain was constant and we were stuck there for ages. But my skirt would have been ruined so I didn't. I kicked myself for having a "must try and look more feminine" moment when I got dressed that morning. Should have put my leggings on! A week later, in more torrential rain (it was sunny when we met up!), we had take shelter in an open shipping container. No skirts that day thank goodness!

Actually I find the hardest thing when we're out walking for ages is finding some public toilets that are open! Mainline rail stations have become a saviour.

So OP just wear something comfortable - and weatherproof - for the time of year. If he likes you, he really won't mind what you're wearing. You think he's worrying about what he's going to wear?!

If he likes you he won't give a shit what you're wearing. (Unless he's a fashion writer/journo!)

Will you even see the dress under the Parka? If he judges you for what you’re wearing on a walk around the city he’s a bit of a twat let’s face it.

Do you have any knitted wool tights you could wear.

I just don’t think trainers tights and parkas work together. Tights need boots and mini dresses need either a longer coat or a shirt jacket.
