If you’re around 40, where do you buy your “wow” dresses?

Not that we’re all likely to be going anywhere soon 🙄 But if you were able to buy a dress for a New Years Eve night out (like cocktails and dancing rather than black tie) or a general nice night out, where do you go when ASOS, Topshop etc all start to seem a bit young blah?

Phase Eight is my go too. I like Monsoon but find that often other people are wearing the same dress. I once bought a fabulous Arienna Pappell dress in TK Maxx. I wore it to a function and numerous people asked me where I got it. I listed it on ebay afterwards and the auction ended with me getting three times what I paid!

Folkster have lovely stuff

@WingBingo

AllSaints have some fantastic half price dresses at the moment. Really wish i had somewhere to wear them.
They do indeed! I’ve just ordered a dress for myself as a Xmas present. Might wear on Christmas Day. Otherwise will keep to when we can go out properly again and do it justice!

Which one did you get @Rollergirl11?

I love the ones with a jumper, especially the Aaron one.

AJTracey · 06/12/2020 14:13

All Saints, Topshop (sob), ASOS (other brands), Ganni...

Rollergirl11 · 06/12/2020 15:12

I went for this one. It’s too big though so you k going to order the size down and see how I go.

Yes I like the 2 part jumper ones too but I tried one on in store back in the summer (was chuffed the changing rooms were open!) and totally didn’t suit me!

I think I might get DH a new parka coat in the sale too.

For my 40th party I bought a gorgeous bronze sequined shift dress from Kaleidoscope.

StCharlotte · 06/12/2020 15:32

It appears from their website that their offering is a bit hit and miss now.

Oh too late to vote for my favourite

I prefer the deep v neckline and slim over the hips. Just gorgeous.

Rixo for special occasions.

naughtyelfs · 06/12/2020 16:07

I like Ganni & Cos but they are quite casual. I actually have a lot of Kate Moss Topshop maxi dresses & love them still.

naughtyelfs · 06/12/2020 16:12

Love Temperley too but ££££

WingBingo · 06/12/2020 19:04

@Rollergirl11 that dress is gorgeous.

I love this one.

Hmm thinking... last party I went to I wore a short black dress with pearl detailing on the sleeves from River Island.
I got compliments so it must've been alright.

I also have bought out out dresses from various places like Monsoon, Quiz, Topshop, Wallis, Oasis (when it was open obv).
