I am in utter awe and admiration of Kate. She is everything and more we could ask.

I do think that her hair needs a major rethink. She has such an elegant face and her her current style seems to be "draining" iyswim?

I find her style spectacularly dull. She manages to make Alexander McQueen look like Karen Millen.

But she doesn’t have to be interested in fashion - it’s not the law. She’s free to dress as she likes and feels comfortable.

I do not, however, admire or hold her in awe. For what exactly?!

BitOfFun · 26/11/2020 18:00

One of the reasons I quite enjoy the S&B topic (despite having little interest in real life) is that the tone of the discussions is usually light and friendly. Posters aren't generally slapped down, told LMGTFY, or asked to evidence their sources. Basically, it isn't AIBU. It would be a shame if that changed.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 26/11/2020 18:33

Not a clue what this is about - comphet? Tiktok?

@7Days tiktok is a social media platform but isn't important in this context. Comphet is short for compulsory heterosexuality, and essentially refers to heterosexuality as being imposed on women by society rather than always being a natural state. It's a theory rather than factual but parts of it, such as women who have repressed their sexuality expressing strong admiration and awe of other women instead of attraction to them, can be true in my experience, so it made for a good joke here and may also be true, who knows.

7Days · 26/11/2020 18:45

Ah thank you! I thought it was those dastardly astroturfing Russians/Chinese again Grin

Eaumyword · 26/11/2020 19:44

I dunno about all that, I just like her hair and think she's pretty! Don't think I want to kiss her though Smile

Pumkinseed · 26/11/2020 19:49

I am in utter awe and admiration of Kate.

sorry but what has she actually done??? did I miss anything?

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 26/11/2020 19:59

I also like her hair and think she's pretty (if a bit lazy), but I'm not sexually attracted to her, and I say that as a bisexual woman. So I do of course believe that non-sexual admiration of other women is possible, but the 'utter awe' and 'everything we could ask for' comments play into the comphet theory very well. If it's non sexual it's an extreme, slightly unnerving, form of it Grin

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 26/11/2020 20:04

I believe, apart from marrying well, she once worked part time at Jigsaw so...

Don't get me wrong, I don't think people should take their self worth from their jobs, but I do think they should attempt to do some good in the world if they are able to, especially if they are as deeply privileged as her. Has she a history of volunteer work maybe?

MissEllaWater · 26/11/2020 21:59

Style wise, everything she wears looks like it came from Designers at Debenhams or Next. Which is fine, if that's your bag, but it's hardly ground breaking. Nor does it show any personality or individuality.

As for admiring her (for her clothes or her impeccable hand shaking/ribbon cutting/general achievements), you really must have set your bar quite low, OP.

AgathaTabathaBagatha · 27/11/2020 00:15

Another one who doesn't see what's special about her. She is boring, looks boring, has no personality and has done nothing in life but stalk and bag a prince and have a few babies by him to be on the safe side. Even the Queen said to her 'you don't do very much, do you?' apparently when they met (or so I read). Old Queenie's right on the money.

I also think she and William could have done more to stand up for Megan to the media when she first joined the family. But nope, she was probably feeling threatened by her or something.

Floisme · 27/11/2020 08:22

I will never understand why people expect anything from Kate. She is married to the heir to the throne and it is her job to never put a foot wrong, which by nature requires her to present an inoffensive and bland image. I have no idea if that's what she's also like in private and I don't think it's any of my business. My guess is that she's not interested in fashion any more than Diana was interested in shooting weekends at Sandringham, and there's no reason why she should be.

HermioneWeasley · 27/11/2020 09:19

I don’t see anything that’s admirable about her OP. Her hair is her best feature

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 11:59

I think her hair requires a major restyle. It is not up to date and looks overdone.

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 12:00

BUT in every other respect she is perfect. In a word.

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 12:02

I like her very much and yes, she is worthy of admiration.

Pumkinseed · 27/11/2020 12:08

BUT in every other respect she is perfect. In a word.

in what sense? At least she doesn't offend. If you don't do much and have no opinion on anything, you cannot make mistakes nor ruffle feathers. Smile

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2020 12:16

Nobody is perfect. Not even Kate. But I love how she dresses in themed clothing like when she came to Ireland and we were all waiting to see if she had a dress that wasn't green Grin

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 12:29

Kate is lovely and does the job - and job
it most certainly is - perfectly and with grace and poise. She is such an asset.

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 12:31

Other lesser, and more distant, members of the RF would have done well to take note.

Thewithesarehere · 27/11/2020 12:34

@lemonsquashie

I think she has been very well groomed, trained, picked for the job. She handles herself well, never causes controversy or raises any eyebrows. I imagine her Maj is thrilled with kate. The perfect wife and ambassador for the royals. They could not have created a better robot to do the job
The Queen wasn’t looking for Michelle Obama.

It's not a job though is it. It's not a job where you clock off and go home.
Iamagree · 27/11/2020 14:21

@Jazzistorture

She's not dressing to be interesting though, she's a royalty they have to dress safe and conservative. She's hardly kylie jenner or whatever. It's not her job to be avant guard and trend setter.
Grin this gave me a terrifying mental picture of "Kate Kardashian" looking backwards over her shoulder at her bum in a selfie
Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 14:23

A lot of people do not do the sort of work which entails “clocking off”.

MikeUniformMike · 27/11/2020 14:25

@Janegrey333, Like who?

Janegrey333 · 27/11/2020 14:25

To clarify, I mean she is doing her job properly when she is required to be on duty. She certainly does not look as if she is searching for cameras.
