Help me choose a handbag please. Some people say the leather frays a bit on the edge any experience? It's a lot of money to spend on a bag that may show wear and tear after once use.

One is a clutch without chain but leather wristlet and the other is a wallet on chain. The clutch is slightly bigger but no zips pockets inside whereas the wallet on chain has a zip pocket inside.
I want it for formal events and I usually wear nude shoes but my friend and the sales assistant said black is more versatile. The black is also available with a chain.

I love the clutch with the chain personally, I don’t like the wrist straps as they never seem practical enough to be able to hold a lot. I’d also go with black as matchy matchy shoes and bag combo is rather dated.

Are you wedded to YSL? Mulberry has some gorgeous little bags, and strath berry has some which are a lot cheaper but very stylish

Personally I'd go for the nude wallet on a chain. If you do decide black I'd get with a chain also just so you have the option.

I also think nude kind of is the new black. What doesn't nude go with?

I'd go for the nude one with a chain. I've got a similar one in black and I can tuck the chain in if I want to use it as a clutch bag or use the chain for more casual.

I don't like wrist straps and I also don't like shoes and bag to match so if you wear nude shoes I'd go with black bag.

Nude on a chain. I bought a nude coloured designer small bag on a chain over 10 years ago and it is still going strong for days out, nights out, special events. Family and friends have borrowed it and it was the best money I ever spent.

Another vote for nude one on a chain. Timeless. More versatile than black in my opinion. I don’t like wrist straps, I always end up carrying the bag itself which kinda defeats the purpose..

Black on a chain if they have it, nude on a chain if not.

No hate from me, I LOVE this bag! Wanted it for years, enjoy it ❤️

Nude would be my inclination too.

I'm not keen on chain though so I'd say nude with the strap.

Boring comment here. Due to risk of transfer of clothes dye I would choose black...on a chain

If you’re likely to get more use out of the nude one, then I’d get that and disregard the ‘black is more versatile’ as it really depends on your wardrobe and style.

I’d try the WOC and the wristlet to see which you find more comfy to wear.

I'd go with the nude bag on a chain. The chain is removable anyway, so you could use it as a clutch or a shoulder purse. If nude suits your wardrobe more, then it's more versatile for you than black - I almost never wear black so most of my bags are in light neutrals instead, which go with all MY outfits, not somebody else's!

As pp has said - it depends what you tend to wear. If the nude goes with your style/colours then go for that! Black is very versatile but can also be a bit boring and/or predictable...And nude is actually very versatile too, as long as it’s the correct shade for your skin colouring and what you tend to wear - warm if you tend to wear warm colours, cool if you wear cool colours.

Next thing I’d look at is whether you’re more likely to be comfortable with a strap or the wristlet.

I’m so excited on your behalf...definitely going to have to live vicariously right now because I absolutely can’t spend on a handbag this year.😭😭

Nude on a chain

I’d go black but with the chain. You can use it as a clutch but also cross body. Much more versatile.

I don't like the chain. Sorry. I personally think it makes the bag look cheap and there are so many chained strap copies around.
I like the black wristlet. Especially if you wear nude shoes as matching bag and shoes is a bit dated.

Black with the chain! If you could wrap it and leave it under my Christmas tree too that would be great

Personally I would say neither as the shape is outdated.

My friend has black on a chain but the ysl logo is black too. Which I think is a tad more subtle. Personally I don’t find black or nude versatile colours. If it was me I would want a tan, navy or grey one. Don’t know if they have any other colours.

Defined go for the wallet on chain over the others but I think there’s definitely nicer items out there

Nude on a chain, you could always add a slip leather arm thing (sorry can't get the right wording!)

Nude on the chain. I have a few YSL bags and they are stunning, wear well and no frays (although mine are the slightly chunkier envelope bags). Enjoy and ignore the inevitable (jealous) moaners
