Anyone think snag tights are overrated?

Recently received an order of these after reading so many rave reviews. Simple black 80denier.
They are nowhere near as good as the reviews suggest. Horrible, shiny tights, very sheer for 80 denier. Unsupportive fabric so no nice smoothing effect. The patchy sheer effect is like wearing condoms for tights.
Size 12 so no mad sizing issues. They aren’t stretched out, they seem to fit , they’re just so disappointing. Why are they so popular ?
They’re very soft but feel as though they will indeed snag at the slightest fingernail.
Usually I buy falke/ m&s/ aristoc/ even primark.
At the online reviews just some cult marketing ploy?
And my legs feel chilly.
Recommend me some beautiful tights !

I have quite a few pairs and definitely haven't had the same experience as you. Maybe reach out to them on social media?

re: beautiful tights. I'm an absolute bore. I have snag or I have m&s that I haven't replaced yet. (The climacool ones)

ApolloandDaphne · 25/11/2020 12:27

I love mine and have had no issues with them.

VanGoghsDog · 25/11/2020 12:28

I didn't like them, had a refund. They just fell down and I didn't think they felt good quality.

I have been thinking recently that I could probably assign tights to an archive box actually, now I'm home all the time I never wear them!

Uptoongirl · 25/11/2020 12:42

I like mine. I've found with Primark/cheap tights no matter how large I get them they just aren't long enough and fall down. I've tried more expensive M&S ones, which were better but I still had to wear a pair of knickers over them to keep them up! I'm 5'8 so tall but not particularly so.

Just come back from a 2 hour walk in my Snag tights and they are fine. They aren't excessively expensive so I'm happy with them - wouldn't want to pay much more than they are now however.

Janegrey333 · 25/11/2020 13:00

M&S opaques are perfect for me - the 3 pack 40 deniers for £8.

thenightsky · 25/11/2020 13:02

Primark body shapers 100 denier, long, are perfect for me... size 12, 36in inside leg. I can pull them up to bra level and they stay there.

rooarsome · 25/11/2020 13:07

I like them well enough, but they always have a terrible odour when first unpackaged that lasts for quite a few washes!

Nowayhozay · 25/11/2020 13:09

I have bought them for both DC's one was pretty underwhelmed the other happy but more for the colours. Neither have complained about the fit.
Probably are over hyped imo.
M and S are my go to tights.

PucePanther · 25/11/2020 13:13

Their selling point isn’t quality, it’s the fact you can get them in enormous sizes. If you fit into high street sizes you can buy cheaper and better tights on the high street.

Chemenger · 25/11/2020 13:14

I really like them, but from similar threads if you find that other brands normally fit OK and don’t roll or fall down, it’s likely you won’t appreciate Snag. For me the experience of having them stay up all day is what makes them worthwhile.

BestIsWest · 25/11/2020 13:21

I really like them but I am tall and really struggled with tights from M&S etc rolling down. Snag stay put on me.

My experience too and same height.

Every other brand are just too short, with a lot of wriggling and pulling I can get them pulled up so the crotch isn't mid thigh but they fall down as I walk.

Snag tights come all the way up past my belly button and I never need to pull them up and readjust them as I walk around.

dollyknocker · 25/11/2020 13:25

I recently bought the mock garter tights and they arrived absolutely stinking of a weird chemical smell and the finish was terrible. I emailed them with some photos and they have sent me a replacement no quibble. I am yet to receive the replacement so the jury is still out for me, but like pp said, I do think they are maybe aimed more at people whose sizes are excluded or overlooked by most retailers and not at those of us who are lucky to be able to find tights that fit in most high street stores.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 25/11/2020 13:25

I like them. Somehow I manage to put holes in every other pair of tights I wear - M&S, Tesco, primark. They rarely last more than one wear. Snags are lasting really well so far.

PolytheneHam · 25/11/2020 13:27

I LOVE mine! Complete game changer!

EyeDrops · 25/11/2020 13:29

I love them. I'm only 5'3 but still have the issue of other tights sliding down and the crotch rubbing mid-thigh - horrible feeling. Snags stay put comfortably all day without me needing to hoick them up again once!

motherofawhirlwind · 25/11/2020 14:03

DD has some in size D as a tall and skinny and is loving them. They're nice and long so the seams don't irritate her toes and are comfy. They definitely do need washing before wearing though.

Autumnraincoat · 25/11/2020 14:05

I was also unimpressed. Thin, easily snagged. I think they have 120 denier now which I am tempted by if only for the colours... similarly I’m a 12 so no sizing issues with highstreet tights. They seem a nice brand though and I like that they use all sizes of model.

For me year after year H&M are best - lovely thick material, often cable knit/woolly if you want, nice colours. Cheap but can sometimes last more than one winter (especially as leggings if you cut the feet off!)

EsmesRedPetticoat · 25/11/2020 14:15

I like them but I’m short and chubby so find a lot of high street tights either dig into my middle or are way too long. Like others have said, if you don’t have any problems getting other tights to fit they aren’t really any better than anything else.

ZolaGrey · 25/11/2020 14:20

@PucePanther

"Enormous sizes" is a pretty shitty turn of phrase.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/11/2020 15:24

I didn’t rate them - I thought they were shiny, and snagged (ha) very easily.

Agree with pp, I think the range of sizes is the big selling point, that you can tailor them for eg being bigger on the bum or the tummy, or height. I am fairly average, size 10, 5ft 6, so regular shop tights are fine for me. I like a dense, matte finish, and the best cheaper brand for me is Gipsy, but I have Falke 100 denier opaques which are years old if you can near the initial outlay.

misskatamari · 25/11/2020 15:35

I have a couple of pairs. I do wish they were thicker/warmer, but I'm 5'8 and size 16/18 so they're a godsend in terms of fit. I find most high street tights way too short and therefore so uncomfortable whereas snag fit really well

viccat · 25/11/2020 15:35

I have lots of them and haven't had any issues. I'm short and curvy (5ft3 size 12/14) and often find high street tights in the smaller sizes are too tight around my waist and bigger sizes are too long/fall down.

I haven't noticed any patchy/uneven coverage either, that actually sounds like a quality issue. Have you emailed them about it?

Buzzthedragon · 25/11/2020 16:08

Interesting . Lots of different opinions.
I’m fairly tall and long legged so familiar with tights that don’t stay up etc, which I why I bought snag. I would say though that I appreciate the ones with a bit of a corset effect on the belly area (love m&s magicwear or whatever they’re called) .
These just feel kind of soft and floppy and thin.
They are very comfortable. But so are my pyjamas. They look awful. The sheer and shiny effect does me no favours , v unflattering.

I can't fit in high street ones, that's why I buy them. They're properly opaque on me but I do go up a size
5ft 10 and size 16 before anyone starts about enormous sizes, High street aren't long enough from crotch to waist and in the leg
