Hush Amie joggers... am I going to look mutton?!

I really fancy these but I am ancient nearly 50.

Do I listen to the little voice in my head that says I'll look ridiculous? Or should I just bloody get them and wear them? Grin

Do you have a body like hers? If so then go for it. If you look anything like me you'll look like you're wearing pyjamas Grin

GorgeousGoldies · 19/11/2020 22:14

Two of my friends have them (50 and 51), they both look fantastic. I think you are the Hush target market!

MoltonSilver · 20/11/2020 01:14

Personally, I look ridiculous in them.

SparklingLime · 20/11/2020 01:23

I also would say you’re their target market. Sali Hughes is a brand ambassador for Hush and she’s late 40s. They’re just not reflecting that in their choice of models.

Get them, they are so comfy Smile but size down as they come up large and then they will definitely look like pyjamas

Bluntness100 · 20/11/2020 08:05

They are just a pair of joggers. So fine cor round the house, dog walks, garden, or a quick trip to the supermarket etc.

GeidiPrimes · 20/11/2020 09:53

I'm nearly 50 OP, and have about 4 pairs of amies. We're definitely their target market.

GeidiPrimes · 20/11/2020 09:55

Oh yeah, the sizing! Hush joggers you definitely do need to try a size or two smaller than your usual.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 20/11/2020 10:00

Fgs stop thinking age has any bearing on what you can wear. If you like them, wear them. I’m slightly older than you and have these. They come up large to perhaps size down if you aren’t sure.

chloechloe · 20/11/2020 12:36

I’m 41 and have the printed ones in the brown animal print and a black pair. Go for it!

I would really recommend you to go two sizes down though. I went just one size down with the first pair I bought and they are way too big! I didn’t send them back as I’m abroad and the return costs are high, so I just wear them round the house.

I’m usually a 10 (chunky hips and tummy but skinny legs) and a 6 fits nicely.

beachysandy81 · 20/11/2020 14:01

I like them and have been wearing similar but not as nice (but a lot cheaper ones) during lockdown for working at home.

Bathroom12345 · 20/11/2020 14:06

I have a few pairs of the black ones. I wear them a lot but I have to say they arent the best quality. The zip hooks have come off when washed never to be seen again so I need to pull down the zips without them and although they are OK I wouldnt be buying replacements anytime soon.

I got them on a employee discount but I would definitely not be paying £55 each for them.

oldnormalplease · 20/11/2020 14:51

Thanks all for your replies (and especially LeaveMyDamnJam for the kick up the bum). I'm going to go for it - but I'm going to wait and see if they do a nice fat Black Friday money off code first!

Razzlefrazzle · 20/11/2020 14:56

Go for it OP. I have these and love them. Age has nothing to do with what you can and can't wear - it should be about what suits you and makes you feel good. I wear a lot of Hush, it suits my style. I'm 61, so I definitely practice what I preach!!

MooMinCow · 20/11/2020 15:06

I have these and wear them (46yr old here!). Also have a navy and plain black pair and been wearing them on rotation most of this year! Very comfy and versatile and great for travelling and holidays (remember those? Hmm) when worn with vest tops and sandals.

Definitely size down. Also worth looking on EBay (I got two of mine for around £30 instead of full price)

They're definitely not doing a Black Friday code. It "goes against their principles" apparently Hmm (They've already emailed out to say so, they're giving a percentage of profit to charity on Black Friday instead)

It seems to go against their principles full stop!

They do 10% off very occasionally but haven't for well over 6 months.

lurkingfromhome · 20/11/2020 15:47

Mutton? I hate that word. Please stop buying into this age thing. It's a pair of joggers, not a school uniform with over-the-knee socks and a mini skirt. In what POSSIBLE way could a 50 year old woman be too old to wear a pair of joggers?

oldnormalplease · 20/11/2020 17:12

Ooh, more replies. Thanks to MooMinCow for the tip about ebay (will definitely check that out) and also to GinandGingerBeer for letting me down gently about the non-existence of a Black Friday code!

OP posts:
Cocolapew · 20/11/2020 17:14

I have these but Tesco and Sainsbury's version, I'm 52 and it would never cross my mind that I might be too old.

oldnormalplease · 20/11/2020 17:28

OK, I've been looking on old threads about Hush and most people seem to be saying that the quality is terrible. So now I'm thinking I may well not bother.

Anyone know where I can get something similar but of better quality?!

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 20/11/2020 17:32

I have these and yes they developed a hole in the back pretty quickly. I’m usually a size 8-10 so had to get a size 6 which is still pretty big on me and they seem to ‘grow’ throughout the day so I wouldn’t recommend them personally. Sorry!

Puffler · 20/11/2020 17:35

I’m 43 and have a pair. I’ve lived in them this year and they still look good!

MrDarcysMa · 20/11/2020 17:44

I bought their famous harem pants and they haven't fallen apart of anything - but they've faded in the wash and I HATE the waistband - it adds so much bulk to your middle !

OhCobblers · 20/11/2020 18:09

I wear these at age 49 and am a slim size 12!

BUT I sized down to a 10 though should have tried the 8 too as the 10 doesn't fit as snugly the pic shows, which I would have preferred.

They are thin but could wear tights in the winter? They do go for quite a lot second hand on EBay but I was always missing out so decided to buy a new pair.

I do not ascribe to wearing something at a certain age - I wear what I WANT and what I'm COMFORTABLE in!! I've also been told by more than one person that I look stylish 😉
