Is anyone planning on dressing up at Christmas regardless?

I love yoga pants and a top, at Christmas I go for comfort over style as I hate feeling trussed up. This year I feel like wearing something fabulous, no idea what, I'm no supermodel!

Anyone just think balls to it I'm getting my glad rags on?

I always like to wear a nice dress on Christmas day. We have always dressed up for the big day, rest of the holidays is a free for all of pj's and onesie's though!

FlouncingBabooshka · 17/11/2020 16:41

@MrsKingfisher - yes, count me in Smile

There have been so few opportunities to wear anything fabulous this year and far too many opportunities to wear yoga pants - whilst drinking tea and scoffing a pile of biscuits the size of a small country.

Looks like it will just be me and DH this year and I intend to do whatever I can to mark it out as not just another day. I may not restrict myself to one fabulous outfit. Might do a few changes throughout the day if I remember Grin.

Yes! We always wear something nice regardless of who's house we're at, but it's just me and DH this year. I have a new dress and sparky tights, DH has a new shirt.

WitchOfTheWest · 17/11/2020 16:50

I'm dressing up! I've got a tartan swing dress I've only worn once before so will be digging it out again!

MrsKingfisher · 17/11/2020 16:50

What is everyone planning on wearing? @JorisBonson where did you get your sparkly tights from?

Yep, normally I'm a fan of a Christmas jumper but this year I'm planning to wear a black polo neck jumper with a red tartan skirt and red lipstick to get in the festive spirit! I've even found lovely tartan dresses for the DDs and have threatened DP with a red tartan shirt 😁

MargosKaftan · 17/11/2020 17:03

Yes!!!! I always have at least something new for Christmas day. Even when it's just the 4 of us, as it will be this year.

Last year I bought dark green paper bag trousers (H&M) and a new white thin jumper (uniqlo). Year before went for a red and blue dress from boden.

Not sure this year what sort of thing I want. Await your excellent suggestions!

Nothavingfunrightnow · 17/11/2020 17:10

Yes, I will be! I bought a new dress on one of the many sales on recently and I have nowhere to wear it to. So, I decided I would wear it to my Christmas dinner!

FlouncingBabooshka · 17/11/2020 17:12

We should update the thread on Christmas Day to demonstrate the fabulousness of our outfits!

@Nothavingfunrightnow - can you link to your new frock?

abouttogoon · 17/11/2020 17:24

I bought a maxi dress at beginning of lockdown , might wear that if grandchildren can't come round and I don't need to be playing within toys in the floor!

Would prefer to be playing with stuff on the floor though!

I hope you get your wish.

I always wear a dress on Xmas day
This year it will be a glittery sweater dress with opaques

Nothavingfunrightnow · 17/11/2020 18:42

dress
MargosKaftan, you're privileged. No one but the person who packed it to be sent to me has seen it yet Grin.

FlouncingBabooshka · 17/11/2020 19:20

@MargosKaftan

I love your username Smile

waltzingparrot · 17/11/2020 19:34

Oh go on then, you've all convinced me. I'll dust off my velvet viscose shirt.

MarmaladeTeepee · 17/11/2020 19:42

I'm wearing a long-sleeved, wide-legged, black sequinned jumpsuit which looks totally OTT but the material is stretchy so v forgiving and actually feels like pjs when on.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 17/11/2020 21:05

At 1am last week I impulse bought new clothes for the children for Christmas day. A beautiful tartan smocked dress with a Peter pan collar and a cable knit cardigan for dd, and matching sweater vests and bow ties for the three boys. I usually let them wear whatever for Christmas... But this year I've informed them they are dressing up! They are going to look epic... Am now trying to find something that goes for myself! We are going to be one fancy family Grin

FredtheFerret · 17/11/2020 21:12

I found myself craving somewhere marvellous to go on New Year's Eve last night...Sad

We haven't been out on NYE for quite a few years, but I suddenly remembered what fun it was to wear a party dress and dance the night away. Can't remember the last time I did that, and obviously this year it's not going to happen. I usually wear something Christmassy on the day, but I'm not sure what to wear this year.

I really want a gold sparkly Christmas party dress - but have realised I'd feel sad wearing it at home with the family.

gungholierthanthou · 17/11/2020 21:14

Planning on getting some sparkly pyjamas 😂

Pipandmum · 17/11/2020 21:17

We tend to wear something nice. Not party glamour but dinner party smart. Just me and my kids this year so maybe not.
