Can anyone recommend a spicy perfume?

Just that really! Preferably not something hugely expensive or hard to get, but I’m open to trying anything really (well, lockdown permitting of course!)

Night by the white company. Breautiful autumnal warm spiced rich scent and really reasonable in price

MooMinCow · 05/11/2020 16:08

Obsession by Calvin Klein. Spicy, cinnamon-y warm smell - a little goes a long way though!

Original Coco by Chanel (yes it’s expensive, you might be able to get a decant) but again little goes a long way and lingers all day

I love Nutmeg and Ginger by Jo Malone. But it has been discontinued so I get the version in perfume parlour - beautiful spice and an uncommon scent.

I love spicy perfumes in winter. My favourites are:
Coco Chanel
Feminite du Bois by Serge Lutens
and Halfeti by Penhaligons

But they're all £££. My favourite cheap spicy perfume is this Fragonard sandalwood and cardamom perfume. It's gorgeous. Really warm, spicy and gourmand. I highly recommend if you're looking for spicy on a budget.

Shalimar by Guerlain .

MustardMitt · 05/11/2020 17:33

Thanks all, I will start making my Christmas list! Grin

Came in to say Shalimar too

TheSeedsOfADream · 05/11/2020 18:19

Samsara is light orangey and sandalwoody,
Shalimar is not a million miles from Obsession, more of a spice kick. It's winter in a scent.
YSL Opium
Tam Dao is sandalwood.
Andy Tauer is the man for spice. L'Air du Desert Marocain, Au Coeur du Desert, Lonestar Memories, Lonesome Rider are all spicy and stunning and absolute masterpieces and I couldn't choose just one. Bit spendy, but you can get sample sets and discovery sets and the lovely Mr Tauer virtually does everything himself.

Opium

I still love it. Generally a night time perfume though. 9pm

IHaveAGreyLamp · 05/11/2020 18:49

Noir by White Company or they do another one which is like a Moroccan Spice but can’t remember the name of it! It’s quite peppery which I like

Everley · 06/11/2020 01:06

Penhaligon’s Halfeti (not cheap, but the most amazing perfume) or Jo Malone Cardamom & Mimosa (again, not cheap, also doesn’t last on me).

Blondiney · 06/11/2020 02:02

Kenzo, Jungle L'Elephant. Amazing on the coldest winter days.

Dreamscomingtrue · 06/11/2020 02:06

I second the Liz Earle No.15 it’s really nice, spicy and unusual. I get lots of compliments too.

LadyWithLapdog · 06/11/2020 02:10

Spellbound

Coldwinterahead1 · 06/11/2020 02:25

I third 15 by Liz Earle.

Bubblebox · 06/11/2020 02:46

SJP stash could be a good budget option

CarrieMoonbeams · 06/11/2020 02:58

I just bought Oud de Nil from Penhaligon and it's absolutely gorgeous.

It was a bargain too - they often have unboxed perfume for a good price, this was £55, should have been £112.

PandemicAtTheDisco · 06/11/2020 03:02

I like a Lush Sandalwood based one.

Sikkim Girls. It''s supposed to be similar to YSL Opium but is being retired soon. It's £35.

yorkshirepudddiing · 06/11/2020 03:13

Opium YSL

PandemicAtTheDisco · 06/11/2020 03:17

Sorry, Sikkim Girls is not Sandalwood. It's sweet and spicy. Jasmine and Frangipani and Tuberose.

Ginger is the Sandalwood one. Smuggler's Soul is also good.

notangelinajolie · 06/11/2020 03:19

Anyone remember Taboo? Wonderfully spicy but you'd probably need a time machine back to the 80's to smell/but it.

LimpLettice · 06/11/2020 12:47

I still wear Dana Tabu all the time. Cheap as chips, I always get comments on it. Spiced, slightly citrusy cola, but better.

SJP Stash - cinnamon liquorice cedar to me and also super cheap

Secret obsession - plums and vanilla with a spiced background. Festive and 100ml for about 20 quid on the bargain sites.

I love spice. All the classics, Obsession, Opium, Shalimar, and I forgot Youth Dew. A small bottle is not expensive, but only spritz a teeny bit.

torquewench · 06/11/2020 13:31

I used to like Cinnabar, cant remember who makes/ made it

TheSeedsOfADream · 06/11/2020 14:12

Estée Lauder do Cinnabar. It was actually launched just before Opium, and is quite similar in some ways but the YSL as campaign with Jerry Hall on the sofa, the dodgy name and the unusual bottle stole all the thunder.
