How do you store and display beautiful handbags?!

Over the last 7 years I’ve got hold of about 7 rather lovely handbags. I have enough now. I store them with a few other general bags in an ottoman, but they are so nice I would like to display them as well as store. Although I know that’s not always good for them Confused. I don’t want to come across as all Real Housewives - I’m not like that at all - but any ideas?! Should I just put up some kind of shelf or buy an IKEA kallax (I could paint it some nice colour too.). Will they get dirty dusty 😞? OTOH I like to see them sometimes

GreekIsland, I keep my bags in a set of cubby-hole things in my wardrobe, a bit like the IKEA kallax design. Agree with a PP that using inserts is a good idea. MaiTai (her blog is MaiTai’s Picture Book) sells inserts that ensure bags keep their shape, and they include extra pockets and stuff. Her inserts are made to fit popular Hermes models but she gives detailed sizes and states which other brands and styles they fit. I highly recommend looking, even if just for beauty and inspiration!

Who is going to admire your display?

Does anyone have to admire it? She doesn’t have decorate her house to your/anyone’s specifications. Do what you want, OP.

@StatisticallyChallenged

The ladies...
Ooh, the Mulberry Margaret 😍
SirProjectofThigh · 05/11/2020 20:38

I DISAGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE AND YOU SHOULD GIVE ALL OF YOUR MONEY TO CHARITY.

SirProjectofThigh · 05/11/2020 20:38

Sorry. I couldn’t help myself. Enjoy your lovely bags, people!

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2020 20:39

@Sexnotgender the Margaret was my first Mulb, good spot! I love the colour of that one - it's still a firm favourite

I love a sentence that includes the words “ my first Mulb” :)

@StatisticallyChallenged

So many beautiful bags. So many mulberry bags. I am beyond jealous. I have one which I love.

ShirleyPhallus · 05/11/2020 20:45

At least no one has suggested you should sell your bags and buy something that would benefit the whole family.... Like a bench Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2020 20:47

They're a bit like pringles @SpeckledyHen - once you pop you can't stop!

SpeckledyHen · 05/11/2020 20:54

StatisticallyChallenged yes , the famous slippery slope!

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 05/11/2020 21:37

I have a Mulberry, a Prada and a Vivienne Westwood handbag (prob a fair few more too - nice Furla, Russell and Bromley, Aspinal etc ) stuffed in the bottom of my wardrobe. Must grow up now I'm 56!!

Sexnotgender · 05/11/2020 21:46

A cabinet is a great idea, mine are either on top of or in the bottom of my wardrobe in their dustbags. I sometimes forget what I have 🙈

@StatisticallyChallenged I love the Margaret, I keep eyeing them on eBay but really don’t need one.

CherryPavlova · 05/11/2020 21:56

I don’t know if mine class as lovely or not. They came with cloth bags to keep them in but I don’t. They go on the shelf at the top of one of the wardrobes. I want to be able to grab the right colour without faffing when I’m getting things ready for work the next day.

JanewaysBun · 05/11/2020 22:09

Don't just sell yoir bags sell your entire house and give it to charity Wink

I keep mine in dustbags in their boxes as I'm worried about sunlight fading them. I do think top shelf of a walk in wardrobe is the dream though!

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2020 22:49

A room sized walk in wardrobe, with a big bag section...

And a mirror that isn't wonky (i look 2 sizes bigger depending on which side i look in!!)

But I shall start listing my wardrobe contents for sale immediately

Knittingnanny · 05/11/2020 22:56

I would give my husband such a huge shock/surprise if I displayed my handbags, he has no idea of the number I have. Not top designer but a few Radley, Osprey etc.
A joke on my Facebook this week
“ I have 8 bags and give 4 way how many do I have left?”
“ 20, I lied about having 8”

First dibs on the Margaret 😂

ThomasHardyPerennial · 06/11/2020 06:46

I've been looking at that Havsta cabinet myself, op! I have my bags on shelves in a built in wardrobe at the moment, but I would like them out in the open. I have about 12 Orla Kiely bags - they just make me happy, nothing wrong with that.
