Is anyone using Minoxidil for hair loss?

I started using a generic 5% version today for the first time. I know for women it’s usually 2% but I’m only going to be using it three times a week so the 5% made more sense.

On the literature I’ve read they said it could be applied to dry or damp hair. So I applied it to my hair after washing and then styled it as usual. I only wash my hair three times a week so I’m going to do it then. I do have some bits on the temple I’ll apply it to daily as that won’t mess up my hairstyle.

I also decided to invest in 6 months supply of Nourkrin. I’m praying this combination will do something miraculous as my hair is just shedding so much and it’s starting to scare me.

Thanks for information earlier OP!

That is interesting regarding FDA approval as Regaine have a 5% foam which is specifically targeted for women, so wonder what they did that is different.

Ooooh I don’t know! That was just my assumption from what I read. Didn’t know about the heart palpitations!! I get that from caffeine, don’t need minoxidil doing it too!!

So far i have literally no complaints as I think I’m only a couple of days in!

I have done some reading and it seems that the 2% is more to do with prevent hirsutism than it is to do with possible birth defects. So that’s some good news! 5% is fine as long as you prevent drips down your face, wash your hands if you’re going for a foam or rubbing it in with your fingers and also don’t apply just before bed. It’s common for it to transfer onto your pillow and then onto your face. So they reckon 4 hours before bed is best.

Because I’m only applying it on my crown I’m just using the dropper and letting the end of the dropper kind of rub it in if that makes sense. Anyway. I guess I’ll be updating in six months time!

Never thought about it transferring onto pillow, lol don't want to wake up with a hairy face
I have been using both the 5% foam for women, and my bald bits, only 2 spots near the front look more filled in and parting, but normal size hairs

MEANT TO SAY BOTH 2% LOTION,AND 5% FOAM,

Very interested in this thread as my hair is also shedding terribly right now. Not for the first time either! I'm desperate to see some signs of it slowing down but so far, it definitely isn't. Had blood tests, GP says nothing in the results points to causes of hair loss. I have a good idea what caused it, but I stopped that particular medication three months ago and have been holding out hope that around this time it would be slowing down, but no!

I've looked into Minoxidil on previous hair loss occasions but have always been put off by the fact that once you stop the treatment, you lose the hair gained with continuation of the treatment. However, I may revise my opionion if this continues for much longer.

OP, please do update us! And good luck, I really hope you have excellent results Smile
