Snag Tights

I hate their marketing.

I really thought they were only for very obese women or very fat men who like to wear tights.

I didn't realise that slim women were their target market too.

OP posts:

@CarrotCakeSupprise ah ok, so he's one of a number of investors with a small share in the business following a bail out in 2019 to keep the company afloat. 85% still owned by the Brie Read. It's a bit misleading to call him the owner.

CarrotCakeSupprise · 03/11/2020 14:37

@TriciaMcMillan

Fair enough! It was a skim of the article not a considered point.

Carrotcakey · 03/11/2020 14:40

I also thought they were only for plus sized on account of their advertising. They look great, I might get some too.

They probably should have a wider range of sizes modelling them though. I’m not trying to be goady.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 03/11/2020 14:55

I'm a size 12 and tried their tights this year and love them.

MrBloomsLeftVeg · 03/11/2020 15:17

As a person 'larger than you'd usually see in real life', I think if we met in real life that I'd probably sit on you to see if it deflated any of the hot air you are spouting

QueenPaws · 03/11/2020 15:46

The thing is, plus size have to "put up" with people never being over a size 10 and trying to imagine what things look like on them
My friend commented on seeing some curve range dresses "I was going to say I can't visualise them on me as I'm a size 8, and then realised this is what plus size people must feel all the time"
I managed to buy from most high street shops despite them not advertising as "plus size"

PartoftheProbl3m · 03/11/2020 16:34

I think it’s okay to say that someone thinks their marketing is unusual

PartoftheProbl3m · 03/11/2020 16:35

@ShrikeAttack

Snag use not just slim or regular or 'in the zone' women.

The women they use are huge.

24+ size.

They are big women.

They do not use any women size 12 or lower.

I don't care.

But I'm not about to buy their products. They don't seem for me.

Agree. Huge women don’t sell to me.
BexR · 03/11/2020 16:39

I thought they were just plus size. I'm now in that category due to lockdown pile-on.

They seem to use burlesque images of obese women to sell their tights. Its certainly eye catching.

I just want tights that dont end up with a dropped crotch! Might give them a go.

Flamingopants · 03/11/2020 16:40

DD is a size 8 and loves their tights - she wears them to school everyday, they are conforble and last well.

refriedbeanstalk · 03/11/2020 16:43

I'm so sorry that fat and disabled people wear clothes op Sad

Trisolaris · 03/11/2020 16:45

I’m a size 8, I’ve bought some recently.

They are better than most brands as even though their main images are exclusively one size, you can look at their size guide and see examples of all different size women wearing the tights to gauge the right size for you.

It’s just their regular models are different from the norm.

It’s good for norms to be challenged.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/11/2020 16:56

"I'm so teeny-tiny, and these women are sooooo huuuuuge!"

Stealth boast, not very cunningly disguised (must try harder OP) and goady af Hmm

waitforitwaitforit · 03/11/2020 16:59

Both of mine are size 10-12, look lovely, very comfy. Both pairs developed small snags the first time I wore them. So the name suits.

dannydyerismydad · 03/11/2020 17:04

I find them super comfortable, but the name is right. They snag SO much more easily than their high street alternatives

That's really interesting because I've had the complete opposite experience - mine seem to be indestructible! Maybe it's different deniers?
ZZGirl · 03/11/2020 17:13

I'm a size 12 and I LOVE their tights. I've seen plenty of images displaying a range of sizes on their Facebook and Instagram. Their sizing is broken down into athletic and curvy to suit all body types. I love having tights that feel nice and don't bunch!

MrMeeseekscando · 03/11/2020 18:45

I've not had any snags on mine and I've had my first lot AAAGGGEEESSS!
I'm still in last winter's ones Grin
Oh, I've gone down a dress size and they still fit beautifully too

sonjadog · 03/11/2020 19:56

I get holes in mine too. Easy enough to sew up again though. My M&S Autograph ones have lasted much longer without holes.

Craftycorvid · 03/11/2020 22:05

I love ‘em, even a few of the slightly more bonkers colours. My problem has always been that, whilst I’m smallish, short and a size 8-10, I’m chunky of leg. Lots of tights do that annoying thing of clinging lovingly round my ankles then slowly descending from the crotch. Snags just pull up with no battle and stay lovely and comfy all day.

Oops, double posted by accident. Blush

viccat · 04/11/2020 10:09

I thought about this recently when their autumn collection came out. I love their tights but sometimes it is hard to tell how they really look if all the photos are of them on very large women. I'm size 12/14 and have bought some of the purple 120 deniers - they are completely opaque on me but most of the photos of that colour are actually of the owner Brie herself and they don't look opaque around her thighs at all. It's not the best advert for opaque tights...

In general I like their photos though, even the quirky ones.

Craftycorvid · 04/11/2020 11:08

The opaques are definitely opaque on me.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/11/2020 12:20

I can't really see how OP is now sizeist and disablist for pointing out the ads she has seen are plus size and deducing it was a plus size brand. Unless we are all performing in depth cross channel investigations into little known tights brands (or any other ad) when they crop up.

They flash up on my Instagram feed a lot and nowhere else and I do agree, I have only seen plus size posts- albeit my own assumption was that they do all sizes and were demonstrating they run into plus sizing as part of their bopo marketing. I'm disabled and haven't noticed that inclusion but really couldn't care less. Not sure I need cringing cynical virtue signalling adverts to remind me that bloody bog standard tights exist. Wouldn't be seen dead in most of their colourways either, the ads usually look kids tv presenters or the start of halloween costumes, but I appreciate style is subjective and I'm not inclined towards bright colours when dressing so it isn't for me. Good for them for cashing in while they're Instagram famous though, who wouldn't.
