@Countmeout, I agree, returned on Thursday, refunded yesterday (well, two out of the three parcels).

Has anyone ordered from NRBY? I haven't come across them before but have ordered their velvet jogging pants and their more relaxed jogger pants. The prices are like Toast but the reviews are good. John Lewis stock them too.

Laska2Meryls · 16/12/2020 16:59

Hi , I haven't returned any sale stuff .. but I will have to be very careful not to go mad in the next sale (for reasons below) .. I have ordered and received the current season red striped wool/ tencel top from JL in the hope that it will be in the sale and I can do a price match.. I am wearing the other ones I bought such a lot (as trying to not put the heating on during the daytime an keep it on the same winter cycle as it was when I was out at the office all day ) and they are great for that ..
BUT did anyone see this .. Article Green? a collection from Ti Green, a Bristol Theater designer? You're going to love it if you loveToast, I reckon.. I have ordered a couple of things today ..and have been talking to her , who is happy to make alterations in fit.. Its comparable to Toast prices .. Am really excited about it .. Have ordered the Emma Trousers and the Manon skirt ..

ToastcosIloveit Have never heard of NRBY before.. They have some fab knitwear and I like the velvet shirts and dresses ... (sits on hands because of above post..)

@Laska2Meryls, i love some of those clothes from Article Green: I have never heard of them before. The Sian blouse is amazing although very similar to a poplin blouse Toast did a few years ago with a drawstring crewneck that tied to the rear. I have it in red and also in navy: must dig them out. Very tempted by the Emma trousers but, like you, spent out, having ordered from the Marimekko sale yesterday and from NRBY. Holding out for the Toast sale now, especially the velvet jumpsuit.

Moominmammaatsea · 16/12/2020 19:22

@ToastCosILoveIt, thanks for the NRBY (is it a bit like HRVY off Strictly?!) recommendation, it’s not a brand I’d heard of before and I really like the velvet shirts. @Laska2Meryls, I’m going to check out the Article Green stuff now, again thanks for the link as I love finding out about brands/labels that appeal to fellow Toasties.

Anyway, after a year of only buying Toast in the JL 70pc off sales or the actual Toast sales, I fell in love with this www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+knitwear/caqai/wool+alpaca+yoke+knitted+sweater.htm?searchref=%2fresults_solr.aspx%3fsrch_keywords%3dAlpaca%26keywords%3dAlpaca%26seoterm%3dAlpaca%26&clr=caqai_charcoalecru

and so I have bought it. As a Yorkshire woman, I have shocked myself at paying full price for something! 😅

It is my gift to me for surviving the past year as a single adoptive parent to two children with significant additional needs, while simultaneously ending up as a carer to my two very elderly parents whose health has failed during the two lockdowns. I think it will bring me joy and I hope I deserve it. On that note, I wanted to embarrass you all by saying a big thank you for (probably very unwittingly) saving my sanity during some very tricky times in my life; we chat about clothes but the subtext is that we share little insights into our lives, look out for each other and spread kindness and compliments. Thank you! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - but know this, the second the Toast sale goes live, it’s every woman for herself!

PS: I’ve checked my order history from last year to determine when the sale is highly likely to go live so I’m really happy to share by PM. Let’s give the non-fleaBayers a fighting chance of bagging some bargains!

Moominmammaatsea · 16/12/2020 19:49

Just to add, I am STILL getting the arse-flap tartan onesie pop-up advert. I think I will need to bleach my eyes if I see it again! Nobody else except me and @Craftycorvid? Do they know I received an ACTUAL Christmas card from Toast (said in my best Hyacinth Bouquet voice)?

Laska2Meryls · 16/12/2020 19:53

Moomin thats a lovely post , sorry to hear about your tough year , and yes you do deserve that gorgeous jumper.. I can see you wandering the N York moors in that ..

I Would love a Pm of the date you think.. I have an idea...but would be good to see if you think the same. hopefully those of us who s are Kindred will get a pre-sale email again . (I really only want the Striped Mira though..)

Yes , I agree, its a fab little supportive group and I have really appreciated talking to everyone here over these weird times , And so refreshing, No MN 'oh I could not imagine wanting to spend so much..you must be so rich/entitled/ wasteful spending more than £3.99 on a jumper' stuff here ..

But yes, get them sale elbows sharpened and ready of the off Toasties Grin Grin.... We take No Prisoners!!

....Ooh ooh .. and I know (because DH slipped up today) That I have the Ide PJs for Christmas unless he has bought them for his fancy piece !!

Jealous ( of the card .. not the arse-flap)

@Moominmammaatsea, a lovely post and lovely sentiments. Your gift to yourself is thoroughly deserved x. Yes, NRBY reminds me of HRVY! If you look at the story behind their labell on their site, NRBY stands for nearby as in clothes to wear at home or nearby or sometimes further away.

On the subject of HRVY and Strictly, now that Ranvir has gone, I think HRVY will win. I love Bill Bailey but he's not good enough to win.

Saurus72 · 16/12/2020 20:34

@Moominmammaatsea I too have bought Toast at full price (2 dresses) this year for the first time ever. Don’t feel guilty - lovely clothes make a real difference, particularly when, some days, putting on a jumper and some lipstick make things feel more bearable. I’m working my way through loads of my stock of make up/lovely shower gel/body lotion/perfume. Makes me feel better and like I can face (another) 11 hour day sat at my laptop.

But yeah, every woman for herself at sale time 😊. Last Christmas I remember trying to hold out for the second reductions while at the same time hoping for things not to sell out - tricksy balance. I’m kind of only looking for dresses and possibly a robe/pjs. And maybe some more bargainous JL cashmere jumpers - I’m living in the ones I bought in the summer sale.

Craftycorvid · 16/12/2020 20:47

Wishing one and all a peaceful (and beautifully clothed) Yuletide and a MUCH easier 2021. Here’s to lovely things and escaping the madness of the world by chatting about them 🥂. But maybe not anything involving tartan arse flaps (though that is now my favourite new sweary expression - as in tartan arse flaps! How annoying!)

Saurus72 · 16/12/2020 20:54

@Laska2Meryls Thanks for the Article Green link, the colours are beautiful. When you get the skirt please could you post what you think? V tempted but also wary slightly they’re made to order so I need to be certain.

Sooverthemill · 16/12/2020 21:07

@ToastCosILoveIt I have a few NRBY pieces. Discovered via Thats Not My Age blog during lockdown. The clothes are very relaxed and comfortable and IMO not expensive given the quality and sustainability of the brand. Will be waiting for their sale too. They sell online or via John Lewis. Much cheaper than Toast

ToastCosILoveIt · 16/12/2020 21:19

Ooh thank you @Sooverthemill, they had dispatched the trousers a couple of hours after I ordered yesterday so customer services looking good. I follow the That's Not my Age blog so don't know how I missed NRBY until now.

mizu · 17/12/2020 08:50

Just been sent an email from TOAST asking me to review the felt slippers that I never received Shock

Waiting for sale now Wine

LemonOrange · 17/12/2020 16:02

Hi, I’ve been lurking, I have two pairs of trousers and a blue silk shirt from NRBY, worn them constantly during lockdown, happy to recommend them. I promise I don’t work for them!

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/12/2020 17:52

@LemonOrange, pleaase do tell which ones! Velvet trousers arrived this am: lovely, but less keen on the joggers.

faustina · 17/12/2020 18:11

When I had an urge for dungarees I was going to try the NRBY ones, but they were out of stock for so long I gave up. They're available now in navy but I already found my dream pair so am ok!

@Moominmammaatsea - that jumper looks beautiful. Do report back when it arrives!

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/12/2020 19:20

Where are your dream pair from @faustina?

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/12/2020 19:21

Should read where are they from...

faustina · 17/12/2020 19:53

@ToastCosILoveIt

Found them at Gap! I bought a couple of sizes too big because I wanted them baggy. they're perfect! :

dungarees

mizu · 17/12/2020 21:27

OMG - Just bought a pair of the Gap dungarees in L (only size left) for half price with another 15% off. Came to £22.09! Threw 3 masks into my basket so I could get free delivery - also heavily reduced.

Thanks for the link Smile

faustina · 17/12/2020 21:44

I hope you like them mizu!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 17/12/2020 21:49

The nrby ones did put me in mind of Lucy and yak ones...

Sooverthemill · 18/12/2020 07:45

@ToastCosILoveIt which joggers didn't you like? I have the Lila and have my eye on the Mackey if they get My size in the sale! I think they are fab but of course not everyone would agree! I'm short though
