I placed an order on Friday and still haven't had a dispatch notice for that.

Pandsbear · 01/12/2020 11:59

I feel extremely virtuous as I saw the email at 7.30am and managed to not buy a single item! Determined to wear what I have already. (Looking forward to hearing about all your bargains however.)

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/12/2020 12:06

The sale alert email finally landed in my inbox at 12.04pm today. Thank goodness for this group alerting me or I would have missed the Kate navy bag and the ginger cord dress, both of which are sold out now.

NotAnActualSheep · 01/12/2020 13:38

Hello! Sorry to crash your thread. I've been lurking for ages but not posted because I definitely can't compete with you stylish folks. Also I really, really don't want to enable myself further... my credit card already hates me

Anyway, I don't know if you've found the "secret" sale section (hope that works). It's mostly stuff from the summer sale, but they have some returns of things if anyone missed out. I ordered the chalkboard dress, finally, which I kept dithering over and missing in my size in the summer...

Gonegrey31 · 01/12/2020 14:02

NotanactualSheep Gosh thank you, the link worked but how does one access that section normally? Never had it come up for me before and I'm a long standing (and worryingly frequent) customer...get free P&P etc

NotAnActualSheep · 01/12/2020 14:11

I'm afraid I have no idea!! I only found it by accident because something else I was looking at had been styled with some sandals, which were marked as reduced. I hadn't seen the sandals in the sale section and I thought they had been OOS in the summer (I'm not in the market for sandals, BTW, it being December and all!) Anyway, I clicked, and it took me to them, and from there you could "return to AW mid season sale" which I did Grin. So I thought I would pass on my exciting discovery in the interests of Karma.

faustina · 01/12/2020 14:18

@NotAnActualSheep - thank you so much! I bought a light olive t-shirt. How did you manage to find that secret link?

faustina · 01/12/2020 14:19

... ignore me - just seen your answer above. thanks anyway!

Dottty · 01/12/2020 15:23

HI all. I was last seen on thread number three after the big JL Toast sale bonanza. I was hankering after the violet silk dress from last summer in a size 14. From memory a lot of you said it was quite small across the chest I managed to order it in as a size 12 but am nit that hopeful. I also bought the orange velvet dress ( I managed to get the chanteuse on in the JL sale for £49 last summer you may remember) but covid pounds means it is is a little too tight so I have bought a larger size in the orange. @NotAnActualSheep thank you so much for the link, I have just ordered the ochre trench coat. I cannot keep it all so will choose when I receive them.

Countmeout · 01/12/2020 15:25

Well that was an expensive diversion @NotAnActualSheep. Thank you so much though because they had something I was sorry I hadn’t bought last sale although I’m taking a punt on the size and was disappointed not to find in the sale yesterday. I( this is a very poorly put together sentence 🤦‍♀️) I will have to absolutely love what I ordered yesterday now . Can’t keep everything.

Countmeout · 01/12/2020 15:26

Oops posted at the same time@Dottty. Snap re trenchcoat. Crossing fingers it’s big fitting.

Dottty · 01/12/2020 15:33

Sorry all for the typos. I was typing in an excited state of mind haha.

Waves back to laska2meryls!

Glad it has been of some interest! That ochre coat is gorgeous, but probably the worst colour for me. Which is annoying, but also has saved me some ££.

Laska2Meryls · 01/12/2020 16:04

Actually I just bought the secret sale denim jacket Blush.. I m justifying it because I have lost weight since I bought the workwear jacket in the summer sale and its too big now..

Saurus72 · 01/12/2020 16:23

@Dottty I bought the purple silk dress in the summer sale and it’s lovely. After reading the reviews I did size up - I’m usually a Toast dress size 12 but I bought the purple dress in an 18 😬. It’s roomy but not ridiculously so. Fingers crossed your fits.

ilovecherries · 01/12/2020 16:46

I bought a couple of things first thing yesterday morning and I’ve just had refunds for everything via PayPal. 😢. Not had ordered cancellations from Toast but nothing I ordered was showing low stock at the time I ordered it.

Moominmammaatsea · 01/12/2020 17:02

A big thank-you to @NotAnActualSheep, I managed to get my mitts on a pair of Solovair Doc Marten-a-like Mary Jane shoes in a size 5. I thought they would look great with all my newish Toast dresses and Falke socks and/or tights.

And if they don’t do for me, my 13-year-old will love them for her new school shoes (she’s still wearing the Startrite Velcro strap shoes she had at the start of Y7 and she’s just about to finish her first term of Y8 Blush That sounds really bad, like I’m a mother spending all my money on me,me,me, but she is registered blind and has sensory issues so she cannot tie shoe laces and can just about tackle the big buckles on DMs.

I also bought the woollen hot water bottle cover as an extra Christmas gift for my elderly mum who is really suffering with her severe rheumatoid and osteo arthritis.

Oh no, cherries, that’s so disappointing - I’ve had no dispatch emails for any of my sale stuff (I ordered them all separately as I’ve learned it’s the only way to beat the basket countdown.)

faustina · 01/12/2020 17:09

That ochre trench coat is very pretty. I think they sent one to the blogger that'snotmyage and she looked wonderful in it.

Now I'm fretting about my yesterday order being cancelled! I hope not!

Moominmammaatsea · 01/12/2020 17:16

@NotAnActualSheep, I have the Chalkboard dress and I love it - I bought it initially because it was so cheap in a nothing ventured type of way, but it is surprisingly lovely and very easy to wear. I like wearing it with my anthracite merino tights, my black Fracap boots and a cropped charcoal cashmere cardigan. On a cost per wear basis, it has definitely already earned its own keep this autumn and winter.

Dottty · 01/12/2020 17:26

I had bought those Solovair Mary Janes last year as so wanted them to work for my 5.5 shoe size. The 6 was too large and 5 too small. I hope they work for you or your daughter. They are pretty heavy shoes though but I love how they look.
Saurus72 · 01/12/2020 17:40

@NotAnActualSheep and @Moominmammaatsea Can I ask you what I think is most likely a pretty stupid question about the chalkboard dress please. On screen, it looks like it’s black and brown check - is that what it looks like IRL? I like the style of it but brown is dreadful on me. Kind of hoping it may be more green/grey with black. It’s a serious bargain and apart from the brown I think I’d wear it to death. Thanks (also Sheep, thanks for the secret link 😊).

Countmeout · 01/12/2020 18:15

I had it @Saurus72 and returned it. I thought it was brown but the reason I returned it was that the overall effect was too dark on me.

Moominmammaatsea · 01/12/2020 18:17

@Saurus72, I’d describe the dominant colour as a washed black with a superimposed pattern of dark caramel fine stripes in a grid pattern. I’m with you on brown, personally speaking I’d rather wear a shroud than anything brown! I’m scarred by childhood years of wearing brown itchy Shetland wool crew-neck jumpers (St Michael, back in the day when the carrier bags were green and the motto was 98% of goods were British made).

Honestly, I’d really recommend it; it looks super with charcoal and black accessories and, as you say, it’s a total bargain. One thing to bear in mind: it’s a very neat fit through the shoulders and upper body so maybe consider your sizing options (it’s not too voluminous in the skirt). Free returns if you have a current Toast post pass!
