short tight dresses and anything with a tight polo neck -
because I have horrible legs , have a fat tummy
and tight polos make my saggy chin look worse - HELP

This thread is so funny!!! Grin

BeginningBridge · 01/11/2020 15:04

Anything frilly or fussy around my face. I have naturally curly hair and the result is just too awful.

Iamacatslave · 01/11/2020 15:43

Thongs 😃

goose1964 · 01/11/2020 16:08

Most boots, they only seem to fit people with no calves unless you can afford to pay hundreds for them. Even places that cater for us poor overweight people.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 01/11/2020 21:02

Loving this thread 🤣 As a shortarsed hourglass, among the many things I cannot wear:

polo necks (feel like I'm being strangled)
Low or mid rise trousers/jeans
Belts with said low or mid rise trousers (despite having some v. Lovely ones, they cripple me if not worn on my natural waist)
skirts ( weird how quite a few have said the same - I find them so difficult to style)
Cold shoulder tops
Bikini briefs (they disappear under my two c sections)
heels ( my mum would be so pleased to hear me finally admit this 😉)
Ankle socks - they all seem to finish too high on my leg and leave the most unattractive "ring mark" which takes hours to disappear. I've even tried children's socks, which fit better but are even tighter on the leg 😮)
Solid Bangles- I have a couple of lovely ones, but they just seem to sit in an uncomfortable spot between my wrist/hand and get sort of 'trapped' around my hand.

I think that's enough for now 🤣...

Benjispruce2 · 01/11/2020 21:15

Shorts or anything above the knee when bare legged. Never been good on me. I’m slim but hate my knees unless I’m in 40 denier or more opaque tights.

Evanna13 · 01/11/2020 21:21

This is my list in no particular order
Polo necks
Low cut tops
Shapeless dresses
Sleeveless tops
Pastel colours
Shorts
Bikinis

quickkimchi · 02/11/2020 02:10

I have a pair of monkey boots which should currently 'go with everything' but apparently any kind of laceup boot (and I suspect anything in the realm of utility wear) makes me look like I'm about to pick up a chainsaw and trim a tree, no offense to any tree surgeons reading of course.

I think it's a combination of age and embracing my inner butch, practical things (dad trainers, cardigans, blazers) just look so darned practical on me now, I don't look like I'm making a style choice so much as covering my nakedness with clothes I found in a bin bag outside a charity shop.

unoeufisunoeuf1 · 02/11/2020 15:06

Midi skirts. Other women wear them and look cool and undestated-sexy. I look like I've joined a conservative Christian cult.

Dresses with a tie-waist. I'm slim-ish but sack of potatoes springs to mind.

Like a pp said, trench coats! Chic on others, unbearably fussy and flappy on me.

Lurkingforawhile · 02/11/2020 15:10

Anything skirts that sit just on the knee. I have fat above and below knees so it just looks awful. Tbh shorts look better as my thighs aren't so bad.

Benjispruce2 · 02/11/2020 21:51

Lol some really funny images on this thread. We are so hard on ourselves!

SendHelp30 · 02/11/2020 21:55

Skirts. I have a big bum and they just don’t sit right on me. Exception being pencil skirts but after my 3rd c section, my stomach isn’t flat enough to pull off a pencil skirt anymore.

MIDI skirts make me look like my granny.

SendHelp30 · 02/11/2020 21:57

@Ifonlyiweretaller I think we have a similar shape 😂

OublietteBravo · 02/11/2020 22:06

Dresses or jumpsuits with a belt (especially one you tie).
White shirts.
Ankle boots. I have tiny ankles and they always flap around and rub.
High waisted trousers. I have a short torso - they pretty much touch my bra strap.

Passthecake30 · 02/11/2020 23:05

Flip flops. Even looking at other people wear them make me wince!
Thongs, don’t like the feeling of them up my bum!
Anything with elastic round the middle. I’m slim but they give me a massive gut.
Lacy bras. Too itchy.
Cold shoulder tops
Polyester (smelly)
Pj bottoms in bed (sweaty)
Polo necks (fat chin)
Bright yellow or mustard. Just no.

Wiredforsound · 02/11/2020 23:19

I bought an Aran cardigan thinking it would look cool in a retro chic way paired with a mini(ish) skirt and Docs loafers, but I just looked like my Nan in a miniskirt and Docs loafers.

Wiredforsound · 02/11/2020 23:23

There comes a point when boho chic starts looking like ‘dragged through a ditch in the dark’.

PerfidiousAlbion · 02/11/2020 23:28

Jumper dresses - a sack of potatoes comes to mind.

Short shorts - the back of my thighs are starting to melt

Mini skirts/dresses - desperate/on the pull

A bikini - unless I don't eat for a weeks and spend six months on a Reformer

Ponytails - I look like retired Barbi

PamsterWheel · 02/11/2020 23:45

All of the above

MadamShazam · 02/11/2020 23:49

Anything smaller than a full brief
Underwired bras
Roll neck tops
High heels
Bodycon dresses
