Best budget makeup

Morning, sorry if this has been done to death but I didn't find anything recent in a search. Most of my makeup seems to be running out at the same time, so I'm going to have a bit of an overhaul. I need a new foundation, powder, bronzer and maybe some new eyeshadows & lipsticks. My budget right now is very tight, so any recommendations for good high St budget brands would be appreciated. I'm currently using No7 foundation and a Beauty Pie pallet, so around that price range or less.

I have just discovered w7, really cheap via Amazon the eye shadows in particular are great. I've also recently came across this website www.beautyforafiver.com I've ordered twice from it Oscar del a renta perfume in sealed box, smells exactly the same as the one I got from Debenhams, also ordered wet and wild liquid eye liner which is really good.

Destinysdaughter · 27/10/2020 11:19

I've had some good lipsticks and an eyeshadow palette from Primark. Also Essence in Wilcos is good.

DottyDotAgain · 27/10/2020 11:22

I've had some lovely lipsticks and eyeliner from Avon - really good prices and you can order directly from their website.

Coffee4Queen · 27/10/2020 11:24

Makeup Revolution is great! I love their eyeshadow palettes.

Letseatgrandma · 27/10/2020 11:25

I use a lot of the 2True stuff-it’s outrageously cheap!

arinah · 27/10/2020 12:04

I second Makeup Revolution, its the only brand I have where I could do a full face and have every single product!

PoltergeistsOnParade · 27/10/2020 13:46

Revolution for sure. When they do one of their big sales I can spend £50 and have a massive box arrive. I've got stuff I haven't opened yet from the last one as I got so much.

Some of the Primark stuff isn't bad too, and Poundland actually do a few things I use (their highlighter and bronzer type things are great.)

I don't know if they still do it but Tesco used to have a fab BB cream in their £1 section. Usually sitting beside dishwashing sponges etc. I haven't shopped in Tesco for a while though.

RoseMartha · 27/10/2020 13:47

I sometimes buy make up from Poundland. And sometimes Avon

ChaChaCha2012 · 27/10/2020 13:51

Another vote for Revolution.

Aldi usually have a make up special buy this side of Christmas. Their mascara is as good as the Benefit one that it's a copy of.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 27/10/2020 13:59

I love Garnier BB cream

Mascaras from Collection ((in Asda ) are as good as expensive ones and, very importantly for my hooded old eye lids, and seem to be the only one which doesn't smudge onto my upper eye lids after 2 minutes.

Brow pencils from Poundland.

I'm a proper cheap skate in some areas then go mad on beauty advent calendars at this time of year to make up for it Grin

Hobbes8 · 27/10/2020 14:33

I use MUA eyeshadow, eyeliner and eyebrow pencils which are all dirt cheap.
Maybelline mascara is good
I use lily lolo mineral foundation which seems to last forever.

Lemming20 · 27/10/2020 14:38

Barry m for eyes and nails Smile

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/10/2020 15:33

Revolution is great and most products are under £5

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 27/10/2020 15:54

Boots Natural Collection stuff is also good and only a few £

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 27/10/2020 17:30

The nicest lipstick I own is a tinted one from Wilko's (Essence). I love it more than my Mac and Chanel. Also I bought an emergency concealer stick as a base for eyeshadow ('Darling' daughter 'borrowed' mine) and it's perfect, in colour, blend, coverage.
Best nail varnishes are the Barry M in Superdrug (I like the glittery ones). So easy to apply and don't dry streaky.
I also really rate Rimmel. Their eyeshadows are well pigmented and their kohl pencil is not too hard or soft - doesn't drag the skin.

mrpoopybutthole · 27/10/2020 18:56

Thanks for the suggestions. There seems to be Make up Revolution in Superdrug and XXRevolution sold in Boots. Those who are saying Revolution, do you mean Make up Revolution? I might give their eyeshadows, bronzer, concealer and brow liner a go. Think I might try primark foundation as I've heard good reviews. Has anyone found a cheap pressed powder that isn't either shimmery or leaves skin pale?

OP posts:
Coffee4Queen · 28/10/2020 01:50

@mrpoopybutthole makeup revolution in Superdrug is the one.

LaBellina · 28/10/2020 01:55

Essence is really good - love their concealer, lipgloss and mascara. If you're interested in their eyeshadow and blush, remember that those are often not very pigmented, which I don't mind because I don't have a very steady hand and prefer a natural office look, but might be disappointing for some.

Runforwine · 28/10/2020 07:33

I use Collection Number 18 Pressed Powder, £1.98 off Amazon. I have very pale skin and have found this is the only one that doesn't make orange or dry my skin out.

MrsMomoa · 28/10/2020 07:42

Technic eyeshadow are fantastic!
I found W7 ones not easy to blend and the colours end up way lighter than they look.
Collection concealer and pressed powders are good, especially for us pale faces.

PoltergeistsOnParade · 28/10/2020 07:54

I buy Revolution online, not in store but both XXRevolution and MakeUp Revolution are different brands by them.

Deathraystare · 28/10/2020 18:15

A few favourite cheapies of mine :-

Wilco do lovely mascaras. I think their make up brand is called Essence? Their princess lash is great (they do a waterproof mascara that I love). I also like their nail polish.

Avon - I love their Glimmersticks - these are the eyes (they do lip ones too). For lining the eyes. Nice colours, usually very cheap. You twist them.

Boots natural collection - nice mascara - not 100% waterproof but ok if not in a deluge - it was about £1.99 I think. I like the lipstick too.

MUA - I like the shadow palettes

Primark - I have their £2.50 tube foundation -no complaints here, though as it is sor t of matte I liven it up with Drew barrymore's celestial super nova stuff. I have also had their mascara - which is ok.

I am using a Rimmel mascara at the moment
www.rimmellondon.com/en-gb/eyes/mascaras/scandaleyes-volume-on-demand-waterproof

But also use Maybelline - quite liked thier foundations too and the Rimmel ones. Plus Rimmel single eyeshadow.

I also like the NYX eye crayons. Some good colours there.

Deathraystare · 28/10/2020 18:15

Oh yes and the Revoloution eye palettes too.

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/10/2020 18:16

I like Revolution. I had a really bad reaction to an elf lipstick so I wouldn’t recommend that budget brand.

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/10/2020 18:17

Also B&M is great for discontinued lines. I buy a lot of foundations and mascaras from there.
