Who’s up for a challenge (to find me some boots)?

I’m at the end of my tether. I’ve ordered and sent back so many pairs of boots over the past week and I’m no closer to finding what I want.

What I want:

• black leather biker/brogue boots (could be either)
• ‘grippy’ sole (not flat) but not too chunky
• must have a side zip for putting on. Front styling can be laces or zip but the laces mustn’t be the only means of putting on/taking off
• Not too much embellishment. No quilting, buckles, chains or sparkly bits.

Need to go with dresses and opaque tights, but also with skinny jeans and dungarees.

I love the Doc Martens Delphine but they’re sold out everywhere.

I really like Joseph Seibel boots and shoes. Very very comfy!

I love the John Lewis ones you've linked (the All Saints pair). The price though.

I'm on a similar mission. My Rocket Dogs have fallen apart after one bloody month!.

Carvela ones direct from Kurt Keiger website seem to stock lots of colours and sizes.

Try Celtic.
I've just got some brown mid calf lace up zip up ones. Absolutely lovely.
Also try ebay for DMs. I got some size 5 red black mix ones, absolutely great colour.

I have those Carvela ones mentioned upthread though in tan. They are so so comfortable to wear. I shopped around so didn't pay full whack for them. Must have been 3 years ago now.

Marks and Spencer's have a few zip up boots.

@ageingdisgracefully thanks for the tip - I had a look at Heavenly Feet but couldn’t see anything quite right.

@DoraemonDingDong sadly the combination I’m after (Black in a 6) is pure of stock. I do like the wine coloured ones though but I think I need black for maximum versatility.

@something2say some of the Celtic ones look lovely. But the ones I like best only come in brown and I need black

I’ve gone a bit mad and ordered the All Saints pair and a pair of Dune brogue boots from John Lewis. I shall report back when they arrive!

These are mine. They feel like good quality to me and are lasting well. Have had them over a year and worn them a lot.

My boots...the ones in the photo above, are the Bardsey boots from the website, albeit from last year.
They do have a suede section at each side but the angle I took the phot from doesn't really show that, sorry! Anyway, I wasn't sure I'd like the suede section but now I've got them I don't even notice it.
I also love the All Saints boots!

I've just bought a pair on Shoezone, of all places. Bought a pair in Next (£62) and by chance saw an identical - looking pair in Shoezone for £18.

Bought both. Found the Next pair a bit clumpy and heavy and think I'm going to like the Shoezones better.

@LizzieMacQueen What's the sizing like on thoseCarvela boots please? I'm usually a 5 and a half (a 5 in doc martens) so not sure whether to size up or down.

@notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking I'm a 40 and that's what fits me so I'd say it's accurate though I don't wear them with really thick socks.

I was able to try them on. Well that's how I knew I wanted them but wasn't going to buy them. (I'm sure full price was £169 in Frasers Nov 2017).
