How often do you wash your hair?

Me and my hair are not friends at the minute!!
My roots are very oily to the point I can wash my hair on day 1 and day 2 my hair would need washing again, but the ends of my hair are SO dry due to dying my hair. So I wash my hair probably every 2 days because my roots get greasy but obviously this is no good for the ends as they’re drying out!
I’m thinking of trying to wash it once a week say every Monday for example, I know my hair is going to look horrible but it’ll be good for the ends of my hair (and I can just stick it up during The end of the week)

How often do you wash your hair?? Is once a week not often enough?

Twice a week, but I always use dry shampoo on day 3. I get two days of none greasy hair, but washing it more than that would make it dry at the ends, hence the spritz of dry shampoo.

I used to be able to go a week plus, but those were the days I left my hair alone.

@Faerysmoke shower daily but wash hair every 4 days or so
Washing/styling products takes 10 mins or so (I don't use shampoo so scrub with conditioner for 3-5 mins)
Drying - 45 mins diffusing then air dry so I can only wash it at night or a day off work

About every three days unless I've been at work then it gets washed after each shift because it smells of McDonald's 😕😂😂😂

I swim/ exercise so daily.
I dont really understand dry shampoo tbh.
People at work use it and it looks like greasy hair with dust.

WitsEnding · 15/10/2020 21:35

Every other day when it’s short, once it gets about 4-5 inches long every third day.

In normal times it would be every day to get the pool chlorine out, then I use a very gentle shampoo and not much of it.

Once a week because it's so dry. I never condition the roots though only the ends.

madcatladyforever · 15/10/2020 21:37

Wash your hair everyday and just condition the ends, it should be fine.

Every second day, maybe every day in very warm weather. I change shampoo brands after each bottle finishes. The variation in shampoos works well for my hair. The same with conditioners.

Girlintheframe · 16/10/2020 06:49

Once a week usually with conditioner.
I have very dry hair

Normally every 2 days, but sometimes I go 3 days to avoid washing it on a day when I have a very early start. I let it dry naturally so it's better done when I have more time in the mornings.

Pre lockdown every other day as by day two my hair would be greasy and horrible. Now I wash my hair once a week and it’s in a much better condition. I had to suffer through an extra greasy, itchy phase as my hair was so used to being washed 3-4 times a week but after about 3 months, no grease and it’s so bouncy. I started off using Pantene cleanse & reconstruct which is meant for greasy roots & dry ends.

Every day .
Until I joined Mumsnet it never occurred to me that people wouldn’t wash their hair daily , with the exception of the shampoo and set ladies.

Personally I couldn’t stand being dirty .

Twice a week. Very rarely more frequently.
