For the Hard of Styling - Second Stitch Fix Box Received

So, for those of us not blessed with the "knowing what to wear" gene, I thought I would share info about my second delivery from the Stitch Fix service.

I kept everything from Box 1, and was really excited about my second Box. I had the same stylist, Scarlett, and had made it clear that I didn't want any more denim, having got the perfect pair of supersoft high waisted skinnies in Box ,1 no jewelry, no shoes, and just tops. You tell them when you set the account up what necklines/colours/fit you like.

So I got:

A lovely pale pink jumper from Danish brand Vero Moda. I didn't think much of it when I first saw it as I am blonde and wouldn't usually wear pale pink, being worried it would wash me out. However, when I put it on it looked great. The neckline showed off my collar bones nicely so that is a keeper. I couldn't find it on their website so it must have sold out in pink but here it is in brown

The most beautiful navy oversize shirt from Mint Velvet The material is so nice, and the sleeves look great rolled up. It's really comfy and ideal for WFH.

A very ladylike burgundy organza sleeved top from Mauvette which is the Stitch Fix brand. It will look great with a velvet black pencil skirt I got from Whistles in the sale.

A blue and black simple patterned blouse with fluted sleeves (which I had specifically asked for)

Finally, the item I sent back. It was a patterned blouse from another Scandi brand - Part Two. It was just too fussy a pattern for me, or maybe I am just not cool enough for the Scandi look Grin

So I was really happy again. I love the fact that I am stretched a bit, so I don't just end up looking the same all the time. I guess I don't trust my own judgement, as I wouldn't have selected most of the clothes, but when I put them on, I am really surprised how good they look. So clearly the issue is with me!!

Here is my £15 off code if any of you want to try it

I have another Fix scheduled for November and will give another honest feed back. I am keeping myself set at the cheapest level and will ask for the same stylist again as she has interpreted the reams of info I gave her about my likes and dislikes really well so far (apart from the dodgy brown and orange blouse!)

My second box arrived yesterday! On the plus side, there was nothing black. I also got the jeans & am currently wearing them. They fit nicely and are comfortable, but I practically asked for them by name, so I can't really credit my stylist for getting that right. There was also a gorgeous dress, which I made the mistake of trying on before I looked at the price. It is beautiful, lovely colour, really suits me, fits like a glove & is... four times the price of anything else I've received.

On the negative side are: a sleeveless blouse. Nice colours, yellow & pink, nice flower pattern, but definitely a summer clothing item. Stylist suggested I could wear it out at this festive time. Out where? We're in Tier 2 as are most of the country and I would be blue and in danger of getting frostbite. If I wore it in the house, the heating would have to be up to the max and the rest of my family would be having a sauna! Then: a white T shirt. I think I'm capable of finding a white T shirt all on my lonesome, without the help of a stylist. It had a tiny star on one sleeve. I guess that accounted for the £30 price tag. Lastly, the most hideous sweater I think I have ever seen: shapeless, round necked, cream on top, then bright coloured horizontal stripes, about 1 inch thick & with thin cream stripes in between, then navy from about just below the bust down. I notice it had the word "retro" in the description. I have a pretty good knowledge of fashions from the 1950s onwards and I guess it might be nodding to some aspects of the 70s, but not any that you would want to revisit. So, 2/5 this time Stitch Fix and I've asked for a new stylist.

My third parcel came earlier this week and it's all going back. It would make so much more economical sense for them to send us all a preview. I'd have ruled it all out & saved them on delivery and returns costs! I'm not going to continue as I've only kept one item from my first box...

I got a box recently that was fee free as I returned the whole of the previous one. It's all going back. Really awful looking stuff. Baggy and shapeless. All brands I've never heard of again. It's hard to believe it's the same place as the first box they sent me which was great. I don't know why they wouldn't have made an effort when I'd clearly been unhappy with the previous one.

BessMarvin · 02/12/2020 20:14

I don't mind not knowing the brands if it's nice stuff.

cheapskatemum · 02/12/2020 20:35

Same, I don't mind not knowing the brands if I like the stuff sent.

I just had a live styling session. Got to switch out some pieces that I wasn't keen on etc. Will update when I get the box.

I have just got the overview of my box. Refused the whole thing. Several tee shirts, a dress which would be way too short waisted, a sleeveless summer day dress, a gilet, skinny jeans and a flippy skirt. Not impressed
