For the Hard of Styling - Second Stitch Fix Box Received

So, for those of us not blessed with the "knowing what to wear" gene, I thought I would share info about my second delivery from the Stitch Fix service.

I kept everything from Box 1, and was really excited about my second Box. I had the same stylist, Scarlett, and had made it clear that I didn't want any more denim, having got the perfect pair of supersoft high waisted skinnies in Box ,1 no jewelry, no shoes, and just tops. You tell them when you set the account up what necklines/colours/fit you like.

So I got:

A lovely pale pink jumper from Danish brand Vero Moda. I didn't think much of it when I first saw it as I am blonde and wouldn't usually wear pale pink, being worried it would wash me out. However, when I put it on it looked great. The neckline showed off my collar bones nicely so that is a keeper. I couldn't find it on their website so it must have sold out in pink but here it is in brown

The most beautiful navy oversize shirt from Mint Velvet The material is so nice, and the sleeves look great rolled up. It's really comfy and ideal for WFH.

A very ladylike burgundy organza sleeved top from Mauvette which is the Stitch Fix brand. It will look great with a velvet black pencil skirt I got from Whistles in the sale.

A blue and black simple patterned blouse with fluted sleeves (which I had specifically asked for)

Finally, the item I sent back. It was a patterned blouse from another Scandi brand - Part Two. It was just too fussy a pattern for me, or maybe I am just not cool enough for the Scandi look Grin

So I was really happy again. I love the fact that I am stretched a bit, so I don't just end up looking the same all the time. I guess I don't trust my own judgement, as I wouldn't have selected most of the clothes, but when I put them on, I am really surprised how good they look. So clearly the issue is with me!!

Here is my £15 off code if any of you want to try it

I have another Fix scheduled for November and will give another honest feed back. I am keeping myself set at the cheapest level and will ask for the same stylist again as she has interpreted the reams of info I gave her about my likes and dislikes really well so far (apart from the dodgy brown and orange blouse!)

Well it appears that it's not so straight forward as price matching sale items.

They can't honour the sale price (which unfortunately had dropped from 25% to 20% overnight) because it's a limited time sale and not on sale until it's sold out.

mashpot · 23/10/2020 13:51

My box was disappointing. Some horrible lace up boots, a nice jumpsuit but spaghetti straps and cropped trousers so zero use in October. A dress that was ok but not worth keeping, a mumsy not good length skirt from Joules and a really boring long sleeved black top (which I kept because I least I’ll wear it but not what you sign up for!).
I’m still deciding whether to bother with another box or cancel. I like the idea but I just don’t think they send stylish clothes or things that met my brief.

BessMarvin · 23/10/2020 15:12

I really liked my first and kept 4 out of 5 bits. The second one wasn't so good as there were ugly shapeless tops (which are presumably fashionable but just looked like ugly shapeless tops to me!), my third will come in November so I'm hoping that goes a bit better. I figure the more you do it the more they will get what you like. Plus I'm hoping to give my season and body shape soon.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/10/2020 15:18

Well after keeping everything in my first box I think I'm sending everything back this time. Given I actually picked the 5 items from the 10 offered I appreciate that sounds a bit riduculous :p

The two jumpers looked great in the pics but one is really scratchy and the other looked too shapless on me.

Of the two tops one is lovely but reduced from 60 to 14 on Asos, the other is a wrap top which is lovely and soft but doesnt fit well.

I quite like the dress they sent and might keep it still considering.

Might make this my last for now, i never price checked the last box but now have a feeling it all might be a bit over priced really.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 24/10/2020 16:03

My third box is coming on Wednesday. I've kept a few things from previous boxes and they do seem to respond to feedback. I previewed 10 items but only liked two of them so have asked for specific colours that haven't been included so we'll see how that goes.

When it works, it's a good solution for me because I hate clothes shopping.

Candleabra · 24/10/2020 20:25

Thought I'd update, I got my box today. I was pretty pleased with everything. I'm keeping 2 out of 5. My criticism is that it was all a bit boring. I specifically said I wanted to liven up my wardrobe. Anyway, a good start. I'll definitely order another box soon, and give lots of feedback.

gingercat02 · 25/10/2020 10:29

I ordered a box and am surprisingly pleased even through I am only keeping 2 out of the 5. Sent back Mauvette skinny jeans (too short), a weird grey popper fastening short coat (horrid) and a really lovely grey/green wrap dress (too short waisted and the popper on the bust didn't stay fastened even though it wasn't too tight). I am tall and long waisted so fit is often an issue. Keeping a burgundy slouchy jumper and a teal batwing (hello 1985) top both Mauvette and both I would have choosen. I'll see what the January one brings before making any decisions

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/10/2020 20:02

I've been offered another box with no styling fee as I sent everything back. Thought there is no harm in giving it a go.

MustardMitt · 25/10/2020 20:15

I tried them for a month but I’m too fat unfortunately. I will start up again if I lose a bit of weight, but probably with a different stylist as the jeans sent in my first box were nice (although too small!) but I didn’t like any of the tops.

cheapskatemum · 25/10/2020 20:28

I received my first Stitch Fix box yesterday and liked all the clothes, just not the bag. Actually, just the colour of the bag (shit brown). Unfortunately, 2 of the tops were damaged: small hole in one and a button came off another as I lifted it out of the box. You have to pay for them and send damaged items back for exchange, which is annoying. I really loved the dress, but it is quite similar to some Joe Browns ones I already own. The other top was great: nice plum colour and fitted beautifully. I like the picture suggestions of what the items would go with, as I can think whether I have anything similar in my wardrobe. I have a floral pattern midi skirt that I've rarely worn because I had nothing to go with it, but it matches the plum top, so brilliant Smile

Candleabra · 25/10/2020 21:17

I've had second thoughts about my box and I'm sending the whole lot back. It was fine, but boring. The whole point was to get some new ideas. I can't see anywhere on the account to provide feedback on the items. Where do I do this?

When you go through checkout you should be able to fill in details
Puppylucky · 27/10/2020 20:15

I think I've commented on this thread already but just to add - after a truly disastrous box a few weeks ago, I succumbed to a lovely email from Customer Service, that was full of the personal touch, offering me one more chance for free. I received that latest box last week and genuinely feel like I've been Catfished! The selection was worse than ever and none of my requests (ie for trousers not tops) or stated style preferences had been taken into account. The brands featured are also getting a bit sad - Boden and Hobbes vs Warehouse in my first boxes. Overall this now has the feel of a brand /idea on the spiral of doom and I won't be bothering again.

LunaNorth · 27/10/2020 20:19

I cancelled after my second box.

They sent me a box of black items. Literally, every single thing was plain black - including a pair of cargo pants, two black cardis, and two black jumpers.

I kept one of the jumpers, sent the rest back and cancelled.

Very disappointing.

Candleabra · 27/10/2020 20:54

Further reflections following my first box: I got offered a free box after sending all mine back. We'll see how that goes. I was also disappointed with the amount of black. And I specifically said no black. After being colour analysed years ago it's a definite colour to avoid for me. All the clothes were mauvette, is that their own brand? Expensive if so.
I will give them another chance but none after that. But if nothing else, it's given me a kick up the bum to sort myself out a bit.

MrsPerfect12 · 28/10/2020 12:41

Urghh! My box this month is terrible! I might keep a jumper but looks like one of those that might catch easy and be worn once.

SJaneS48 · 28/10/2020 13:40

I frequently see them on my timeline on Facebook, thought the items looked nice but been a bit ? that what a stylist in their twenties might send me as a 50 year old woman might be not what I want to wear. Will have a look! Do you think it might be suitable as well for a 12 year old? My DD is now in petite size 10 clothes, absolutely hates shopping, leaves it to me to choose her clothes but hates what I get her. I’m really not ‘down with the kids’ anymore!

cheapskatemum · 30/10/2020 23:16

Having complained that you have to pay for damaged items, then return them & then wait for the replacements, I need to apologise. The replacements came on Wednesday and I've only just managed to send the damaged ones back today (of all the weeks for the local Post Office to be closed for refurbishment, it had to be this week 😤).

LivingDeadGirlUK · 05/11/2020 16:44

Ok so I got my 3rd box today.and I love everything. Its a new stylist and the items have lovely details I might not have picked myself.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 05/11/2020 16:45

This was the free styling fee one they offered me because i sent all the last one back.

Candleabra · 05/11/2020 19:03

I also got my 'free' box this week. Much better. I only kept one thing, but I'm pretty fussy. They'd definitely listened. (Though I did reject all 10 of their preview items).

veneeroftheweek · 06/11/2020 14:10

I got my first Stitch Fix box yesterday and was disappointed. They sent me a pair of jeans which were huge snd I realised they'd sent the wrong size. The blouses looked cheap despite looking nice in the preview pictures. There was a jumper which was really unflattering and a pair of trainers which I'm going to ponder with a few outfits before I decide whether to keep them. It felt a bit mumsy and that was exactly what I wanted to avoid. Not sure whether to bother trying again. Are there any other companies that do similar?

BessMarvin · 06/11/2020 22:53

3rd box arrived today but not yet opened. I wasn't sent an email giving me a choice of 10 items though. How did other people get to do this?

emma6776 · 07/11/2020 19:03

Got my first box this morning. One hideous printed polyester top, a gorgeous jumper that I already own, another nice jumper that I would’ve kept prior to lockdown weight gain, a very itchy cardigan (I’d specified no cardis) and the best jeans ever!

Dontrainonmyparade · 12/11/2020 18:21

I have had a mixed bag previously, some good, some overpriced (on sale elsewhere) etc. I cancelled the subscription after that as I felt a bit conned but this thread inspired me to try them again - I have a fix coming next week but the 10 item preview was so disappointing.

There’s only 1 that I’d try and I’m very unsure about that item really, nice colour but style may be a bit summery for winter. I don’t feel listened to at all, it was very drab colours, shapeless and boring. I’ve fed that back and tried to be more specific about what I would like but I’m really not feeling confident.

I really want to like it as I hate traipsing around shopping and getting stressed.
