For the Hard of Styling - Second Stitch Fix Box Received

So, for those of us not blessed with the "knowing what to wear" gene, I thought I would share info about my second delivery from the Stitch Fix service.

I kept everything from Box 1, and was really excited about my second Box. I had the same stylist, Scarlett, and had made it clear that I didn't want any more denim, having got the perfect pair of supersoft high waisted skinnies in Box ,1 no jewelry, no shoes, and just tops. You tell them when you set the account up what necklines/colours/fit you like.

So I got:

A lovely pale pink jumper from Danish brand Vero Moda. I didn't think much of it when I first saw it as I am blonde and wouldn't usually wear pale pink, being worried it would wash me out. However, when I put it on it looked great. The neckline showed off my collar bones nicely so that is a keeper. I couldn't find it on their website so it must have sold out in pink but here it is in brown

The most beautiful navy oversize shirt from Mint Velvet The material is so nice, and the sleeves look great rolled up. It's really comfy and ideal for WFH.

A very ladylike burgundy organza sleeved top from Mauvette which is the Stitch Fix brand. It will look great with a velvet black pencil skirt I got from Whistles in the sale.

A blue and black simple patterned blouse with fluted sleeves (which I had specifically asked for)

Finally, the item I sent back. It was a patterned blouse from another Scandi brand - Part Two. It was just too fussy a pattern for me, or maybe I am just not cool enough for the Scandi look Grin

So I was really happy again. I love the fact that I am stretched a bit, so I don't just end up looking the same all the time. I guess I don't trust my own judgement, as I wouldn't have selected most of the clothes, but when I put them on, I am really surprised how good they look. So clearly the issue is with me!!

Here is my £15 off code if any of you want to try it

I have another Fix scheduled for November and will give another honest feed back. I am keeping myself set at the cheapest level and will ask for the same stylist again as she has interpreted the reams of info I gave her about my likes and dislikes really well so far (apart from the dodgy brown and orange blouse!)

I've been doing the Style Shuffle most days and the suggestions are getting very repetitive. It's only 2 weeks now till my next box. I hope I don't get any of the summery suggestions I've thumbed up as it's blowing a gale outside as I type this. I'm not expecting a heatwave in the next fortnight. The other thing I have thought is that I wish there was a double thumbs up for things that I really like (there have only been 2 or 3 since I started) & a double thumbs down for things that make me retch on sight. There's a massive difference between something I think, "I really love that" & something I think, "It's ok, I suppose, a bit boring but I don't dislike it", yet they are both just a thumbs up.

I would only thumbs up the things you really like tbh.
cheapskatemum · 15/11/2020 19:29

Thanks, that’s a useful tip. I’ll do that in future.

IlonaRN · 15/11/2020 19:32

@cheapskatemum

I received my first Stitch Fix box yesterday and liked all the clothes, just not the bag. Actually, just the colour of the bag (shit brown). Unfortunately, 2 of the tops were damaged: small hole in one and a button came off another as I lifted it out of the box. You have to pay for them and send damaged items back for exchange, which is annoying. I really loved the dress, but it is quite similar to some Joe Browns ones I already own. The other top was great: nice plum colour and fitted beautifully. I like the picture suggestions of what the items would go with, as I can think whether I have anything similar in my wardrobe. I have a floral pattern midi skirt that I've rarely worn because I had nothing to go with it, but it matches the plum top, so brilliant Smile
Where was the top from, @cheapskatemum ? It sounds lovely.
cheapskatemum · 15/11/2020 19:36

I’m wearing it, so I’ve just had to contort myself to have a look & it’s Editor’s Cut

MaryLennoxsScowl · 15/11/2020 22:35

I’ve had three boxes - bufty - cheap - ok. The thing that really puts me off booking another is the style shuffle - why the hell are they still showing summer stuff in November? Also it turns out I like choosing my own things after all.

cheapskatemum · 16/11/2020 08:27

@MaryLennoxsScowl yes, that’s the dichotomy, isn’t it? We wear things because we like them and, hopefully, we have an inner sense of what suits us (colouring, shape, job, lifestyle etc) yet we’re bored of our “look” and want someone to wave a magic wand and change it for the better!

BessMarvin · 16/11/2020 13:34

Editors cut is stitch fix brand. My box was full of it.

Was it a thin clingy jumper not quite long enough to wear with leggings?

cheapskatemum · 16/11/2020 20:37

It is clingy and ribbed. It’s definitely thin enough to wear something over the top - which I like. I would say it is long enough to wear with leggings as it comes down over my bum at the back and to the top of my thighs at the front. I don’t often wear leggings these days though as they’re banned at work (garments that cling to the thighs may excite teenage boys).

cheapskatemum · 16/11/2020 20:38

I’m 5’ 5” tall & body is proportionate to legs iyswim. I.e. not long or short in the body.

BessMarvin · 16/11/2020 21:37

I was just curious if they had sent us the same thing. I thought the colour was lovely but the top just didn't look right on. On my description it's called editor's cut dolly skinny rib crew neck jumper. Most of my box was editor's cut.

cheapskatemum · 17/11/2020 22:44

It does sound like the same thing. Mine really suited me & I can’t wait to wear it with the skirt. That’s a shame it didn’t look right on you. Are you really tall?

BessMarvin · 18/11/2020 22:46

No I'm 5'3"! Grin

I don't know what it was exactly, sometimes things look good off but not on, or vice versa! Maybe it's the little bit of weight I could do with losing that's not helping at the moment.

Dontrainonmyparade · 19/11/2020 16:10

So in the interests of fairness - my box is here and I’m keeping all of it. Following the preview the stylist really took on board the feedback and there’s only 1 thing that is a bit summery and so I might have sent back, but it’s essentially free with the discount and I will wear in summer so nothing to return and I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed.

I won’t get another box until after the January sales now (because I was stung before with things full price from them that were in the sale elsewhere) but I’ll likely buy another box for spring.

cheapskatemum · 21/11/2020 19:20

That’s good to know @Dontrainonmyparade. Yes, I like that you can choose when to receive the boxes, after the one I’ve got coming on 30th, my next one will be spring too. Can you remember what date left you clear of sales tat, please?

Dontrainonmyparade · 21/11/2020 23:03

@cheapskatemum last year I very stupidly got a January box. This year I’m thinking end Feb/beginning of March should be safe for non Winter sale/Spring styles.

cheapskatemum · 22/11/2020 07:06

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I wouldn’t have foreseen that happening either. Thanks for the advice. End of Feb/beginning of March is perfect timing for me as I went for 4 boxes a year and my next one is due end of November.

gingercat02 · 22/11/2020 13:30

I've just pushed my next box back to March from January. Never thought about sales thanks for that folks 👏

cheapskatemum · 22/11/2020 14:08

Just reviewed the 10 items my stylist suggested for me. 8 out of the 10 were black, despite me saying previously that I like bright colours, rather than black. I said yes to the (blue) jeans people mentioned upthread, that was it.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 22/11/2020 18:52

Ok so I received my first box a few weeks ago and am keeping 3 of the 5. A lovely burgundy boat neck jumper, a dark green turtle neck jumper and the jeans. Sending back the £55 trainers I didn’t ask for (asked for ankle boots) and the laptop/tablet bag that was an eye watering £150! Will try another box this month I think though

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 22/11/2020 18:52

Also I did not realise you could review 10 items before hand how do you do this?

BessMarvin · 22/11/2020 23:14

@AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii

It doesn't seem to be everyone. I just got sent 5 items as usual.
LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/11/2020 12:21

The 10 item thing is a trial atm I believe.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 23/11/2020 12:43

@LivingDeadGirlUK would be great if they rolled it
Out to everyone! I think I would quite like having a choice

cheapskatemum · 23/11/2020 22:11

I agree, I would have been very disappointed if 4 out of 5 sent items had been black, especially as I’ve already said I don’t want black items.
