Hi all, I just wondered what you've all bought recently that you have either loved or been disappointed by? I'll kick things off!

Loves:
Exuviance age reverse night repair. Sweet jesus, I'm in love with this stuff. My face is smoother than a millpond, I use it day and night as my skin is quite dry and it's just fabulous stuff.
Mutha scrubber, transformed my hooves into actual soft smooth feet, only a fiver and really bloody works.
A £2 brow gel from revolution that's better than my usual benefit one.

Disappointments:
Glossier boy brow. Horrible. Waaaay too dark, more black than brown, bitty horrible stuff, leaves tiny balls of the stuff all through my eyebrows.
Armani luminous silk foundation. Total waste of money, dry, horrible stuff that flakes and rolls off under my fingertips, read so many rave reviews but hate the stuff.

Over to you!

Ooh, I love these!

Loves: The White Company cleansing balm. I thought nothing could replace my love of Neal's Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm but this is absolutely gorgeous! It smells like a weekend in a spa.

L'Oreal Plump & Shine Lipstick: I bought this in the colour 'Guava' because the colour looked so impossibly beautiful in the tube (like something Audrey Hepburn would wear) but it has the most beautiful modern finish as well, somehow sheer, nourishing, and plumping at the same time. I absolutely love it.

Disappointments:
Pantene Dry Shampoo Foam. Literally useless, what's the point of a dry shampoo that makes your hair look greasier?

L'Oreal Skin Paradise. I completely fell for the hype, and yes it does make your skin look glowy but I bought the shade 'fair' and its so orange that it just looks odd.

Just googled the lipstick, they look great! I'm trapped in the rut of wearing the same colour everyday.

Oh.

Loves:
Italian Korean towels. The get sooooo much disgustingness off. Super satisfying.
Batisse. The stuff of dreams. Cheap. Smells good works. But you have to spray the night before!
Micro fibre turban thing. Hair loves it and it’s faster to blow dry.

Disappointing:
Glossier boy brow. Colour was ok but consistency was weird. Loads came out and there were big blobs.
Glossier cloud paint. Again really runny and didn’t last.

amieejust · 02/10/2020 14:08

Love: Asda Vitamin C Face Exfoliation Cream, also their eye make up remover and cleansing cream. As good if not better than the more expensive stuff.

Disappointment: Lacura eye cream - not getting any result.

MidnightFlit · 02/10/2020 14:10

Loved: the No7 Retinol night treatment thing. I've got sensitive skin and was prepared for my whole face to flake off, Footner style, but it's very gentle yet effective. I've been using it three times a week and my skin's noticeably softer and clearer, and moisturiser sinks in .

Victoria Health Fulvic Nail Cream: small tube, small amount on the nails every morning while timewasting starting the day's emails, massive improvement in my nails, albeit over the course of a couple of months.

Disappointing: Shay and Blue Black Tulip EdP. Smells gorgeous initially, lasts about half an hour, tops.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 02/10/2020 14:18

Yes to the Korean Italy towels, I've recommended them on here a few times. So satisfyingly gross.

Loves: Bobbi Brown highlighter thingy, can't remember its name. In a palette like Givenchy used to do. Adds soft focus without glitter.

Disappointments: the L'Oreal you've been tango'd Skin Paradise here too. It's like 1970s fake tan.
Hada Labo HA. Both the white one and the gold standard premium with the Japanese writing. Well, meh.

Razzlefrazzle · 02/10/2020 14:24

Loves - Trinny London BFF de-stress. I was already a fan of her BFF cream but was thinking the coverage would be too sheer for winter. Just as I started looking for an alternative, this launched. Feels very light but really does give that 'my skin but better' look.

Don't love - another vote for boy brow. Clumpy gloopy mess 😬

Wildwood6 · 02/10/2020 14:32

@Fiftysixthnamechange the lipstick is fab! Super sheer but very lovely. I'm about to buy my second tube!

@TheSeedsOfADream I'm glad its not just me, its got definite hints of Donald Trump about the colour hasn't it? Most unsettling...

As Wildwood trundles off to google Korean Italy towels....

Elllllle · 02/10/2020 14:46

Loved: Dior pump and volume - fab mascara that doesnt make my eyes run

Paula's Choice body lotion with 10% AHA - gets rid of bumpy skin on thighs and upper arms

St tropez tinted gradual tan lotion. No streaks, huge colour payoff for a gradual tan, very moisturising

Stila liquid eyeshadow in kitten - perfect champagne shimmer, lasts all day

Disappointments:

La roche posay bronzing powder wheel thing - muddy and too pink for me

TheFormidableMrsC · 02/10/2020 14:48

Rapidlash. 3 weeks post chemo all my lashes fell out. I've managed to keep my hair with scalp cooling so it was a shock. DD recommended this. In 16 days I've got at least 2mm growth. Amazing stuff.

Hopefully · 02/10/2020 15:09

Love: every single item in the Balm Balm pamper yourself gift set I just treated myself to as a house warming present. Just so nice, and my skin is feeling much more ‘normal’ after a few months of swinging between oil slick and desert. Biggest hit is probably the beauty balm used as a cleanser.
Silicone free shampoo and conditioner (Tresemme undone conditioner and a herbal essences silicone free shampoo) - my hair feels so much better and genuinely moisturised rather than dry with a fake shiny coating. Less snapping too.
Wide toothed comb for detangling after years of using a ‘normal’ comb. So much kinder to my hair.

Disappointments: lixirskin skincare. I loved the minimalist simple idea, but it dries my skin out and I have to use loads of product for it to feel ok.

Grandadwasthatyou · 02/10/2020 15:26

@Fiftysixthnamechange .. where do you buy the Exuviance cream from? I've looked online and I never quite trust the cheaper prices as I often wonder if they are just a fake copy.
Are you UK based?

Grandadwasthatyou · 02/10/2020 15:34

And which one is it, the Age Reverse Night Lift?

Fiftysixthnamechange · 02/10/2020 15:51

Yes, I bought it online from face the future. I think it was about £45, yes I'm UK based. The salon where I have my nails done are stockists and the beautician gave me some samples. Absolutely fatal, got my eye on the eye cream too which is also brilliant.

Oh no Shock have Glossier messed with Boy Brow? Mines super old and worked amazingly, no clumpy weirdness - I was planning to reorder soon

NW2SW · 02/10/2020 15:57

I found most things on Beauty Pie to be a bit meh. The tinted moisturiser is so orange!

Really liking the Ordinary moisturiser. And Bodyshop bath bombs, smell lovely and none for the glittery rubbish.

Plussizejumpsuit · 02/10/2020 16:12

I love brow boy. I buy a mid brown colour. But I find it expensive and I'm not particularly adverse to spending money on make up if its good. I perhaps mean poor value. As its tiny and £15 plus delivery and it doesn't go far so its not like it lasts forever. So now mines run out I'm looking for a replacement. Could you please link the revolution one?

I got really dry lips a few weeks ago when picking up some vasaline I got some Dr paw paw balm (yellow one) really like it for lips but it's also recommended as a multi purpose balm which I can see myself using as I get dryer bit in winter. Particularly on hands as we're washing so much!

I will never buy any other mascara than P&V. It is absolutely amazing.

@Fiftysixthnamechange ..is it Age Reverse Night Lift?

Terralee · 02/10/2020 19:39

My Mum (aged 71) tried Boots No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Night Concentrate - she got it on offer for about £25... all I can say is don't go there unless you're prepared for painful effects !

She applied it all over her face & neck for 2 nights then applied her usual Boots No7 anti ageing day cream in the morning (not sure which one she wears).

She said her face began to really sting & peel off on applying her day cream on the 2nd morning, so I told her to stop using the retinol as I guessed it was the culprit!

All week her skin has felt awful like 'glass' & her neck was red & had strange vertical lines in it like it was very dehydrated.

So she's been trying to put the moisture back in her skin.

She went back to the No7 counter & the young woman was very defensive of the serum, didn't listen to what my mum said or offer her money back, just kept saying did she take a selfie of her skin - my mums 71 & doesn't do selfies.
I wanted to go in & get her money back but mum wouldn't let me.

I have no experience of retinol myself but I'm sure it's not a normal reaction that my mums skin had??

nitgel · 02/10/2020 19:41

Love dr haushka day cream.

Terralee · 02/10/2020 19:44

Meant to add it's like my mum has had a chemical peel on her skin.
I have heard that is partly what retinol does but there should be more warning on the product for ordinary women who don't understand about these chemicals.
