Wide fit waterproof walking shoes/boots

I'm trying to walk more in my efforts to get fit. A lot of my walking is over grass. My usual trainers are not up to the job in this wet weather and wellies are too unsupportive to walk any distance in, yet i'm struggling to find decent walking shoes. I'm a size 8 and my feet are quite wide. I've tried Regatta walking shoes/boots and similar but they just feel too snug on the toe end of my feet. I'm itching to get home and take them off, which does little for mu motivation! Anyone found any decent wider fit waterproof shoes to walk in?

Ariat do different width sizes. B for example is their medium I think but that is wide enough to accommodate thick socks.

Gertiegumboot · 02/10/2020 10:49

They are a bit £££££ though although hard-wearing.

SpringIsSprung1 · 02/10/2020 10:52

Watching as am looking for the exact same thing. Same size too.

randomsabreuse · 02/10/2020 10:52

Merrell worth a try, Salomon have wide toes and narrow heels. Karrimor might be worth a try too.

Men's selection will generally help with width as an 8.

Scarpa

Athrawes · 02/10/2020 11:28

Keen are the way to go. I have feet like a duck and have their trail shoes and boots and can walk days in mountains in them. All others including those listed above are too narrow.

NannyR · 02/10/2020 11:30

I've had Scarpa and Lowa brand boots that fit my wide feet well.

MJMG2015 · 02/10/2020 11:31

I need some too.

I have some merrels but they rub & I get blisters. They're too hard fir me, I need something softer (live my sketchers!!) but properly waterproof!

Threehundredmiles · 02/10/2020 11:55

I got a pair of northwest territory walking boots for £38 from amazon. Didn't have high hopes for them but they fit my wide feet well and I climbed 3 munros in one day wearing them less than a week after they arrived.

Fressia123 · 02/10/2020 11:57

Sorels I love mine

mumwon · 02/10/2020 12:00

Hotter? not cheap but waterproof

Boopear · 02/10/2020 12:03

I have wide feet and have a pair of GTX Salomons. They're great - like slippers! Best to go to somewhere and get a proper fitting if you still can at the mo..

katcatkat · 02/10/2020 12:09

Honestly it sounds like you need to size up to a size 9 rather than squeezing into an 8 the only problem is then your looking at a men's shoe but they tend to be a little wider as well.

OneMillionSteps · 02/10/2020 12:17

I’ve recently bought these waterproof wide fit trainers from New Balance.

I have the same problem with narrow toes. Adidas do waterproof hiking shoes now. I bought these for a trip to the lakes and they were amazing for long walks and in all weather's... www.adidas.co.uk/terrex-folgian-hiker-gore-tex-hiking-shoes/EF2271.html

I have Mindel walking Boots... they are a bit pricey but I think they are worth it.

I also have a pair of mountain warehouse shoes that have a wide fit. They are not as comfortable as the Mindel but ok for regular dog walking.

Sundaypolodog · 02/10/2020 12:26

Try these - I have wide feet and high arches and I've worn these nearly every for walking my dog and for longer walking. I went a size up so I can wear thick socks with them. I've had them 2-3 years - they look food with jeans too

NotABridezillaToBe · 02/10/2020 12:28

I am pretty wide of foot and have timberland boots, super comfortable

Cookies2523 · 02/10/2020 12:31

Have you looked at Fashion World/JD Williams/Marisota? They have footwear in different widths up to EEE. Good luck - I hope you get something suitable.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 02/10/2020 12:36

My meindl shoes are wide fitting and waterproof and practically bombproof, they seem to last forever. I love my Scarpa hiking boots too, so incredibly comfortable.

haggisaggis · 02/10/2020 12:41

Keen are wide - I have a men's size 9 and they're very wide! I bought them on dh's recommendation forgetting he had wide feet and I don't..
He likes Oboz and is on his second pair. Says they're extremely comfortable.

Firefretted · 02/10/2020 12:49

Saloman GTX are brilliant

123tigger · 02/10/2020 13:00
