Face masks

Looking for face masks recommendations. I've bought a few different ones and they either seem too tight behind my ears, or just don't fit snugly on my face. I've seen so many people with ones that seem to fit the contours of the face which look comfortable and also offer better protection. Any recommendations to save me spending more money on masks that don't fit? Thank you Smile

I have the same problem OP!

I think I’m going to try those neoprene type ones next as they seem to look the neatest since they stretch, although worried they will be too sweaty. Or maybe I will try child/teen size ones since I am small and have a small face.

RaingodsWithZippos · 27/09/2020 16:39

honestly I'm not on commission but can't recommend the ones I bought from etsy highly enough.

Etsy link

They are soft around the ears and if you pinch the nose wire to your nose it stops the foggy glasses!

Sockbogies · 27/09/2020 17:01

Thank you, I'll check these new out. With the number of different face shapes, sizes, positioning of ears etc this is the one thing you really need to try before you buy! And they aren't exactly cheap.

tk maxx have cotton ones which i like, can adjust ear loops and fit nice on vace without feeling too tight

Frappuccinofan · 27/09/2020 23:06

I have a small face/nose so most masks tend to overwhelm my face. I even tried children’s sizes, which fit my face perfectly, but then were too tight around my ears and would pop off!

I have resorted to using bog standard disposable surgical masks, I twist the ear loops for a tighter fit. Not the most fashionable but that’s okay.

spiderlight · 28/09/2020 14:02

I've just got some nice ones from Gap that fit really well.

CthulhuInDisguise · 28/09/2020 20:32

I've heard about the Gap ones but we don't have one anywhere near us. Are they worth tracking down online?

saltysquid · 28/09/2020 20:53

Bloch, Nudea and Isramasks are all really good. I have tried alot!

Wagsandclaws · 28/09/2020 22:05

The big bloomers company that a poster linked to above are the most comfy ones I could find. Can wear for hours without any discomfort. Highly recommend!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 28/09/2020 23:25

I got a couple of the Sophie Ellis-bextor ones. They go over your head with an adjustable toggle. Much more comfy than around the ears.

I thought this was going to be about a different kind of face mask

LightOfAThousandStars · 01/10/2020 19:11

Saw some lovely cotton ones in TK Maxx, they have a good variety of designs

DoraemonDingDong · 01/10/2020 19:28

We have both the pleat ones and contour ones from Gap, they've been fine and have washed well too. The contour ones have a toggle to adjust the ear straps.

I think the pleat ones are bigger than the contour ones, but they suit different members of our household.

Brilliant, I'll check out some of these recommendations and report back! My ears seem to be getting pulled more out of shape as time goes on!

I've just ordered a couple of pure silk ones. £19.99 each - I'll report back when they arrive.

Audreyhelp · 01/10/2020 20:45

Another shout for the big bloomers company I have tried six types these are the best.

Toilenstripes · 01/10/2020 20:48

I’ve got a couple from Caroline Gardner. Extremely comfortable and have the adjustable toggle on both sides.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 01/10/2020 20:54

I'm going to sound like a knob, but I made mine. Hand sewn, as my machine is broken. It's fun choosing fabric !

Sockbogies · 05/10/2020 13:02

@RaingodsWithZippos I took up your recommendation and got some masks today - amazing! They are so super comfy and I don't have to worry about my ears being pulled out of shape permanently. Really impressed - thank you so much! Thanks for the other suggestions too.

Like @ThomasHardyPerennial I have started making mine. My face is too small for grown up masks Grin
I found a pattern online, then used an old duvet cover to practice until the sizing was right for me. I have since discovered that old stretchy t-shirts work better than cotton in terms of fit and comfort.
My sewing is rubbish, but no-one gets close enough to see the stitching and I feel a lot more comfy in my masks now!

RaingodsWithZippos · 06/10/2020 23:40

Ah so glad you like them too sockbogies I have just ordered a couple more for my mum and auntie. I am eyeing up the fox design as well. Which ones did you get?

LightOfAThousandStars · 17/10/2020 21:34

Where can you find the size chart for the Etsy Masks? I was going to order some to try but can't find it
