Didriksons (or similar) parka for petite person!

I'm looking for a fitted, waterproof, warm black parka. Ideally hitting mid thigh and without furry hood. I like the look of this Didrikson one but have read they come up big with long arms, and I'm only 5 foot tall and size 6/8. Does anyone have one, or any other suggestions? Thank you! www.didriksons.com/en/women/jackets/parkas/cajsa-women-s-parka-2-503504-999

Following because I had a Didrikson Thelma years ago and I ranted it because I saw it on a normal height person and realised I looked stupid .. I'm 5 foot too ( size 10) .. I usually go hip length now !

littlespeckledfrog · 20/09/2020 07:02

Oh dear... Why don't more places do petite sizes?! I wondered about children's but they don't do a suitable one.

Lands End, no prizes for style but tidy enough and they do petites in many styles.

NotMeNoNo · 20/09/2020 07:33

The "Squall" range at Lands End are properly waterproof and well made, there are various versions.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 20/09/2020 07:53

Shortie here too, I find Barbour fits me pretty well. Also worth trying Aigle as they're French and tend to come a bit smaller.

pisspants · 20/09/2020 07:59

I have got that didriksons coat or if not then one almost exactly the same and I'm 5'2" and think it looks really nice and have had several compliments. Why don't you go and try one on? I got mine from Go Outdoors last year

Paddingtonthebear · 20/09/2020 08:01

Jack Wolfskin

Thanks all for the replies. Pisspoor how is the sleeve length on you?

Pisspants! Sorry

@littlespeckledfrog I'll take some pics in a bit so you can see. Mine has a little thumb hole so I tend to stick them in there and i think that helps. I have never noticed the sleeves being too long but I am no fashion guru so maybe it looks horrendous and I didn't realise!

HoHoHolyCow · 20/09/2020 09:18

I have that coat too (or a v similar one). I'm a size 8, but not petite - 5 ft 5. The size 34 is a great fit on me. The sleeves are perfect, but I generally find that coat sleeves are slightly too short, especially in smaller sizes (maybe I have long arms!)

GenericFemalePal · 20/09/2020 09:25

Have a look at Tog 24. I was looking for something similar last year, and they were recommended on here as being neater on petite people. I’m pleased with mine, and it’s a lovely colour (I was bored of black and navy).

Thanks all. I'll have a look at Lands End and Barbour too, and may order the Didriksons in a 32.

Oh and tog 24, aigle and jack wolfskin too - lots of good suggestions!

Update on this for anyone who's interested. I ordered a Thea parka from Didriksons youth range in 170 (age 14-15). It's very nice but enormous so is going back and I'm trying a 150.

How was the 150cm?
I’m a 6-8 and just ordered the smallest size in a women’s one and it’s too big (but a great coat) so was wondering about a kids size too.

popularinthe80s · 03/10/2020 18:05

I've just ordered a Didrikson Lissabon for 160cm, and I'm 5 ft 1, size 6/8 - I can let you know if helpful.

littlespeckledfrog · 03/10/2020 18:51

It hasn't arrived yet, but I'll report back when it does!

I bought my tall 11 year old daughter a Naapuri coat. She’s about 164 cm tall and a size 8.

The coat is very similar to the Polarn ski coats she’s outgrown and very similar to my Angelina Didriksons. It’s the perfect coat in between the two. It has a furry hood trim but that zips Off. m.boozt.com/uk/uk/reima/naapuri_18351805/18352161

rk47 · 03/10/2020 20:31

Thank you @popularinthe80s

Yes please @littlespeckledfrog

Thanks @ThisIsMyGCname. Did you get her the 164? I’m 5’5” which I think is about the same.

After reading your posts I think I’ll get her a Thea 170 youth Didriksons for next year. Brilliant. Thank you!

rk47 · 04/10/2020 08:30

Thanks @Thisismygcname Smile

CottonSock · 04/10/2020 08:31

The sleeves arnt too bad on me. A bit long, but they always are. The fur on hood is removable

littlespeckledfrog · 08/10/2020 12:59

The Didriksons Thea 150 has arrived and it's just right Smile
