Thread for discussing the contents of the lovely Holland & Barrett 2020 advent calendar.

Please - no spoilers! Can we agree not to give away what's behind each door before that day?

See you all on 1st December!

Loved today’s!! Been putting it on all morning and a great oil for winter lips.

WoodbytheRiver · 12/12/2020 13:28

I opened mine when I got it, but I’m enjoying seeing everyone opening the days and retrieving the items from the bag I stored them in. I haven’t tried the toothpaste as I don’t trust it without fluoride to protect my teeth😬. Glad to see everyone liking the lip oil because I’m not sure about it. Doesn’t seem to do anything to me?! Look forward to hearing about the rest of the days.

Beadley · 13/12/2020 00:27

Regarding the lip oil, I noticed earlier that it said on the tube “don’t squeeze”.

I was trying to put some on my lips, and didn’t feel like I was getting enough so I decided to give the tube a little squeeze (even though the sensible part of me was screaming DON’T DO IT!) but I did - and the ball popped off and the oil squirted out - landing on my new bedroom carpet and the bed sheets I just changed this morning... So heed the advice on the tube, don’t squeeze!

Today's is definitely useful. Ironic that I'll use it when applying deface masks as my missing face mask from number 21 appeared with it! So mystery solved Grin

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 13/12/2020 07:56

Meh about today’s, but I have short hair so I’m not its target market!

NoNeedToArgue · 13/12/2020 08:22

I think today's is great, but I have long thick hair so definitely who it is intended for! You can never have too many of this type of thing for me!

lookdeepintotheparka · 13/12/2020 08:25

Not exactly exciting but was just going to buy one of these so am pleased with today's!

Glad your face mask turned up @Bluesheep8 they've popped up everywhere in this calendar Grin

SpeckledyHen · 13/12/2020 08:32

I usually put my hair up into an M & S turban so today’s is a handy alternative. It is sooooo soft .

I’m not keen on the Weleda bath milk in the bath as I like bubbles , but it was great for a foot- soak for my fortnightly home pedicure.

Lip oil feels nice and no liquorice taste ?

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 13/12/2020 08:37

Day 13: Towelling hair band. I am not actually sure that this one is the one we got..doesn't look quite the same but it's the closest I could find on the site 🤷‍♀️

I am thrilled with it! I use a hairband all the time but mine broke a few weeks ago. I have been putting off buying a new one as I knew there would be one in the calendar so I am pleased that it's finally turned up!

I thought it was a face cloth at 1st which i definitely don't need any more of so was happy when i realised it was a headband.
I need one of these as i have a fringe which is too short to clip back when doing facemasks. It is really soft, isnt it!!

RoxyGrey · 13/12/2020 15:05

I'm loving this calendar! First year I've ever had a non-choc one and it's proven to be a really good choice for me as I will use everything so far. My 5 year old DD is enjoying it too, she's opening the doors for me every day and snaffling some items for herself (mirror, eyeshadow brush and headband so far!).

For those who have had this calendar before, is it different enough each year to warrant a repeat purchase?

lookdeepintotheparka · 13/12/2020 17:40

I'm on my second year of the H&B calendar and I feel it is a very different mix of products from last year. It's a really good calendar for trying new brands because often I've never heard of them and I've now found a few new ranges I really like.

I don't know how it compares with 2 years ago but I think most were full size products last year? I'm enjoying this year's but just felt the value for money was really exceptional last year!

secretlyhappy · 13/12/2020 19:04

Dh took bath today and found the bath oil in bathroom and tried it. He found it good. I am not keen on baths so at least somebody uses it.

MirandaWest · 13/12/2020 19:31

I used the bath milk yesterday - I enjoy baths a lot and I enjoyed using this. Wouldn’t use it for every bath but nice for a change

BathshebaWasOnTheRoof · 13/12/2020 20:41

I’ve been meaning to buy one of these for a while so I’m thrilled with today’s.

Really enjoying this calendar so much.

Housewife2010 · 14/12/2020 07:27

Today's is a lovely facial oil. Really handy pipette too.

PalacePaper · 14/12/2020 07:28

Very pleased with today's! I love a good facial oil and this one smells gorgeous. I've just tried it on the back of my hand and it feels lovely too.

I'm finding lots of lovely brands I'd never even heard of from this calendar. I'm looking forward to going into H&B in the new year to have a browse through their ranges. I also like the fact that none of its crazy expensive. I'm always tempted by the really premium calendars but I'd hate to find a new product I loved if it cost £££!

SpeckledyHen · 14/12/2020 07:44

Very pleased with this today . I use Jojoba oil normally and it will be lovely to use an actual facial oil for a change.

This happened to me yesterday with my Glossybox calendar. Tiny sample, full size is £85 but it made my skin feel amazing!

Im loving H&B today. Really lovely product.

Day 14: True Skincare Organic Rehydrating Rosehip & Rosemary Facial Oil 30ml

Gorgeous! It smells beautiful, and feels lovely on the skin. I've put it on this morning, with the BB cream on top. I sometimes use facial oil at night and can feel it still sitting on my skin in the morning, but this one has sunk in straight away.
I was using an Inkey List Rosehip oil to try to deal with my hyper-pigmentation. I definitely found that it was improving my skin tone and I looked brighter but the bottle was awful! It was plastic and just always seemed to leak and then attract dust and just look grim. If the rosehip content in this has the same effect, I will be very pleased, and the bottle is so much prettier on my dressing table Grin

Love today's! Smells lovely, looks luxurious. This is something I'd definitely buy again. I've been using Dr Organic face oil but this seems nicer.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 14/12/2020 09:57

Has anyone noticed any plumping from the lip oil by the way? I've been using it over the weekend and think my lips look fuller, but it could just be my imagination!

I was using it over the weekend and have ended up with sore, dry lips. Im hoping its just a coincidence.
Housewife2010 · 14/12/2020 11:04

I really like facial oils with a pipette because it is really easy to add a drop or two to moisturiser to make it richer. My current facial oil has to be poured from the bottle which can be wasteful.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 14/12/2020 13:51

I'm really pleased this one too wish it was full size!, I'm funnily enough just coming to the end of a H and B own brand Rosehip oil which I've liked so it's great timing. This looks a little more luxe too!
