Let myself go

I’ve just separated from DH after a long, slow painful period during lockdown. Looking in the mirror I’m horrified at how fat (3 stone over) drab and old I look (46 for context).

How do I start? Please don’t suggest drastic diets, just haven’t got it in me. I buy Clinique and Estée Lauder face stuff but it doesn’t seem to be doing much!

I get my eyebrows done, face waxed Shock but rubbish with make up - big pale moon face.

Any ideas? Thanks x

Another 46 year old here also 3 stone overweight. Feel crap and sluggish. Face looks jowely and my neck looks horrible in zoom meetings.

Living in leggings and mortified at school gate because I look so shite.

Need to good kick up the arse.

Lockdown has seen me cooking over indulgent meals and boy it shows.

I'm loathe to cook myself better food because my effort for the nice stuff is not for me.

I know diet is the way forward but starting is hard

Diets are for other times. Right now just make sure there is plenty of fresh fruit and nice bright coloured things to eat. Go easy on the take always.

Also, wine doesn’t work. Try to do without that.

Buy smaller quantities of tasty proteins and extend them to you plus kids with colourful vegetables via stir fries and casseroles. You tick the boxes of smaller portions and a better vitamin/health balance. And all the stuff about a lot of self-caring. At 46, you are young enough to bounce back, healthier and more competent. A flattering pair of jeans would not hurt as most of us wear them for almost everyday activity. Aim to look like the best version of yourself. And walk, drink water, and take any opportunity to laugh.

I found noom quite good for gentle diet changes that add up over time.
