Please no harsh comments feeling delicate . I want to wear this dress but I don’t know where I’d go in it or how I’d style it . Can anyone help .

It's nice, looks like a work dress to me. How long is it?

Elasticatedwaist · 12/09/2020 15:41

It’s calf length on me because I’m short

Love it! I'd wear it with white trainers and a leather jacket for a casual look.

Or with a belt and boots.

girlofthenorth · 12/09/2020 15:43

It's lovely . Where's it from?
I'd wear it for work with long or ankle boots. Or trainers actually. Jumper and blazer/ denim jacket / leather jacket for autumn

Sk1nnyB1tch · 12/09/2020 15:43

That's lovely, could wear it anywhere. I'd wear it with white runners and a cropped leather jacket.
Other people would probably do boots, I'm just loving the runners as fashion trend will milk it to the end 🙂

Sk1nnyB1tch · 12/09/2020 15:44

Sorry, runners are trainers.

ParisianLady · 12/09/2020 15:44

It's nice, I like it, seems flattering too.

I'd wear that most places: to the supermarket with plimsolls or sandals, on the school run with a leather jacket, in winter with healed boots for lunch out with friends (when will this happen again!?!), carol singing with same boots and warm coat, and of course it's perfect for the office I'd imagine.

I'd be tempted to experiment with a longer pendant necklace to break up the blockiness. I also, personally, would keep the sleeves pushed up for the same reason. And, if I were feeling adventurous I'd try a contrast belt give that you have a fab waist.

Where you'll you like to wear it to?

girlofthenorth · 12/09/2020 15:44

Yeah I agree with belt- maybe a brown one

SmileyClare · 12/09/2020 15:44

Just go about your normal day in it. I like it.

Dress it up with heels and jewellery, silver or gold bangles would look nice with the 3/4 sleeves, or dress down with boots or flats, maybe a denim jacket. Probably not best for gardening, going for a run in Grin but you could wear it pretty much anywhere I think.

kevinn · 12/09/2020 15:47

It's a great dress and it really suits you.

Do you have a leather jacket?

ouch321 · 12/09/2020 15:49

You look fine, don't worry...

At that length and that colour and pattern and shape yes it's a work dress I think.

I'd wear with tights and black knee boots for a straight forward look. Ballet pumps for warmer weather.

Elasticatedwaist · 12/09/2020 15:56

Thank you so much . I have a black biker and a pair of Stan smiths , I’d feel more comfortable casual I think but ... I am 45 and I worry I’m too old looking for that style ? I really don’t know how to dress any more . Having a bit of a crisis ! I don’t work anywhere nice enough to wear a dress . In my fantasy life I’d work in an old library swishing about in a dress everyday 😃😃

Oh it’s lovely and looks great on you! You can dress it down for daytime with trainers/boots/plimsolls and up slightly with courts/ankle boots for evening at the pub or lunch/dinner out.

Pagwatch · 12/09/2020 16:02

the dress and trainers / biker boots is fine for any age. you are
not too old for it at all.

i wear dresses most days. they are not too fancy for everyday unless they are going to be at risk from stains etc .

Pinkshrimp · 12/09/2020 16:08

That might actually look flattering on me! Where is it from op?

Elasticatedwaist · 12/09/2020 16:15

It’s from Sézane . It wasn’t cheap but I have a thing for polka dots and couldn’t resist ordering it . I rarely order clothe and if I do send back because I can never make things work but thanks everyone I now have some inspiration !

Elasticatedwaist · 12/09/2020 16:16

The good thing is @Pinkshrimp the waist is elasticated so nice and comfy 😀

Lovely dress and I would also wear it for work.

I keep seeing dresses and trainers recommended, what kind of trainers are we talking about?

ChaChaCha2012 · 12/09/2020 16:19

You look lovely in it. But it is pretty much identical to one M&S did last year that was super popular. So most people will assume you're wearing M&S and not something that probably cost three times more.

Ohwhatbliss · 12/09/2020 16:20

It's a lovely dress and looks great on you. I'm 41 and I've worn a similar midi dress to and early dinner tonight with white Veja trainers and denim jacket. I asked DH if u looked like mutton dressed as lamb and he said I looked fabulous 👍🏼 You look great. Wear it whenever you want and be happy!

Illdealwithitinaminute · 12/09/2020 16:21

I have a somewhat similar black dress from Primark and I wear it with a fake biker jacket (which is nicer than it sounds) or a denim shaped jacket and different shoes. I feel really nice in it, I'm 50 plus and don't feel like I look ridiculous or anything. The time to wear things is now!

Palavah · 12/09/2020 16:22

Im not a big fan of the frilly elasticated waist tbh. I think it needs a belt.

Agree with the styling comments.
