Please no harsh comments feeling delicate . I want to wear this dress but I don’t know where I’d go in it or how I’d style it . Can anyone help .

Honestly, I think it looks a bit matronly. The neckline is too high.
I think the combination of high neck, long sleeves, and calf length mean it looks very conservative.
I'm not sure a pair of trainers and a jacket is enough to make is look good

Palavah · 12/09/2020 16:22

Ps - if you're not keen on a belt I'd be tempted to go for a more tenty style.

Ohwhatbliss · 12/09/2020 16:23

@FunorFitness I wear these Veja trainers with pretty much everything atm

Love it. Very chic

Cocklepops · 12/09/2020 16:38

Oh I love it! It strikes me as very Lucy Worsley - which sort of ties in nicely with your dream job (well it doesn’t, but you know what I mean - it’s the same kind of arena). You could accessorise it in a Worsley way!

Just to be clear - I think your figure looks great but you look quite petite and the dress swamps you somewhat.

Maybe try some of the more constructive accessory suggestions on this thread though. I'm certainly no style guru!

RelaisBlu · 12/09/2020 16:42

Don't send it back! It looks really nice on you

Thanks, I was eyeing up my Air Max thinking surely that's not what they mean!

I've just this minute been looking at this dress myself! I'm about to order one of their cardigans. I like how it's styled on the website:

Love this. I'd wear it to work, looks stylish yet comfy. It could be dressed up or down. I'd prob wear it with knee high boots.

diddl · 12/09/2020 17:02

I think for the price you could get something much nicer.

Elasticatedwaist · 12/09/2020 17:08

Think I’ll try with a belt thanks for all the positive comments . I’m not bothered about finding one cheaper , it was an unusual for me , impulse buy and I spend so little on clothes that it’s ok so long as I can actually feel good wearing it !

@Elasticatedwaist

Thank you so much . I have a black biker and a pair of Stan smiths , I’d feel more comfortable casual I think but ... I am 45 and I worry I’m too old looking for that style ? I really don’t know how to dress any more . Having a bit of a crisis ! I don’t work anywhere nice enough to wear a dress . In my fantasy life I’d work in an old library swishing about in a dress everyday 😃😃
I’m more than 20 years older than you and wear a leather jacket and trainers. Of course you may see that as a bad thing ...

Dress in what suits you and forget your age - it’s an insignificant number. And it’s a great dress.

OhRosalind · 12/09/2020 17:27

I love it (love Sezane!) and think it’s really versatile, can be styled in different ways. Would look nice with a leather, denim or tan suede jacket, or long slouchy cardigan (open or belted over it). Would work well with both white trainers or boots. DMs would give a totally different look to slightly 70s knee high boots. The thick brown belt it’s styled with on the model looks good. I love black but I’d probably add a bit of colour via the belt or a bag, even if it’s just tan leather.

WingBingo · 12/09/2020 19:20

That is a very nice dress, and looks great on you.

VioletCharlotte · 12/09/2020 21:31

Love it! I bought a very similar one from H&M. I wore it today with a denim jacket, trainers and crossover bag. Really easy to wear and comfy too.

nevergooogle · 12/09/2020 21:56

The fit on you is perfect.

StCharlotte · 13/09/2020 08:44

I personally wouldn't wear a belt (even though the model is and it looks fine of course) as the waist is a feature in itself.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/09/2020 09:04

Will be great with biker/denim jacket and Stans. I'm older than you and wear that sort of outfit a lot. Great with flat or heeled ankle boots too. It's lovely.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/09/2020 09:05

and definitely no belt. It would be silly, when the waistline is already defined.

Craftycorvid · 13/09/2020 09:11

It’s a great style to build lots of looks around. I’d most likely go down the denim jacket and trainers route myself, as anything that looks very ‘smart’ seems to age me these days 🤷‍♀️

Chewbecca · 13/09/2020 11:47

It’s a great fit on you & is just what the cool women in my area are wearing with trendy trainers & biker jacket.

Whatthebloodyell · 13/09/2020 12:06

It looks like an easy to wear dress, no ‘styling’ required. I bet you will get tonnes of wear out of it as it will look nice with trainers or ankle boots or sandals , dress it up or dress it down!
