£1k for yourself - what do you spend it on?

Let's assume that through a fairy godmother, or hard work and saving, or a lucky win, you have £1k to spend on something memorable for yourself. What would you get? A Mulberry bag, a watch, an iconic DvF dress? Or jewelry maybe?

I'd love to hear about your 'one day' items

At my present state I would probably spend it all on personal training to fit into my existing clothes! But since you asked in S&B, a celine cabas tote or a brora shawl+nice sunglasses and ankle boots or a max mara coat (for which I would need to top up the £1k, but well...)

An Aspinal of London grey large tote bag and blow the other £400 odd on a pair of Fairfax and Favor Amiras

A timeless watch that I’d still love in 15 years. Definitely a piece of jewellery as I’d worry if go off a handbag quickly

lotsolove · 07/09/2020 19:33

New shoes.

dementedma · 07/09/2020 19:33

Some Sheila Fleet jewellery.

Treehuggertastic · 07/09/2020 19:34

3/4 length shearling coat

SandysMam · 07/09/2020 19:38

Tom Ford Sunglasses, Nice leather bag, Nice leather boots. Then the rest can be primark but having those expensive things can make anything classy!

Toilenstripes · 07/09/2020 19:40

Teeth whitening and diamond stud earrings.

IdblowJonSnow · 07/09/2020 19:42

I'm very into long winter coats so I'd spend half on that and then buggar off somewhere swish for a couple of nights to show it off! Wink

Pugdoglife · 07/09/2020 19:44

For me it would be a mulberry handbag, I've wanted one for so long. The design is timeless and classic.

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/09/2020 19:44

Night in a hotel by myself.

Nice earring and necklace.

Happy me.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 07/09/2020 20:01

Oh my goodness I have never had this amount to spend on myself ever, everything spare goes on my children these days even if I did have it. BUT if I was allowed to spend 1k on me I'd buy some lovely clothes that would last me a long time, a few pairs of comfy shoes and a new pair of running shoes, and some new makeup and skincare.

BrunoMars · 07/09/2020 20:05

A leather jacket, mulberry handbag and get my teeth whitened

CatBatCat · 07/09/2020 20:15

I'd build myself a wonderful collection of hats from Lock & Co, Christys and Bates. Starting with a black fedora and a red beret.

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 07/09/2020 20:21

A leather jacket and some antique jewellery

PersonaNonGarter · 07/09/2020 20:39

If it just fell from the sky then either a shearling coat or a really lavish pair of pyjamas and gown.

If I have saved up then probably a lovely coat and a pair of boots.

Maybe a beautiful piece of luggage. I’m not very interested in handbags tho.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/09/2020 20:57

I'd struggle, tbh... I spend birthday and Christmas money on foodie bits and stuff for the house/garden because I'm very content - I live in black ballet flats, multiple identical black pencil skirts and inexpensive plain tees in many colours and have no interest beyond my basic powder, mascara, red lippy makeup routine. I'm no good to buy presents for, either, DH tells me...

littlecatfeet · 07/09/2020 21:00

I need a new camel coat for Winter, and to replace my every day black tote. I'd throw the money at those two things.

AgeLikeWine · 07/09/2020 21:01

A holiday. Every time. I couldn’t care less about ‘stuff’, but I love to travel.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 07/09/2020 21:05

Louis Vuitton handbag to add to my growing collection of bags!

Ponks · 07/09/2020 21:05

A black leather tote bag or rucksack. And a replacement leather jacket to make up for the one the dry cleaner ruined - though I've never found one I liked to replace it.

Putting it towards dental work would be great.

I got a long service award at work of that amount, I bought a new sewing machine and some original textile art.

ifiwasascent · 07/09/2020 21:20

I got a secondment for 6 months with an additional pay of £200 a month so I brought a LV never full checkered bag. Still brings me so much Joy

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 07/09/2020 21:34

Not glamorous but it would make a permanent difference to my appearance - I'd put it towards getting the veins in my legs done. And if that's not allowed (because more than £1k) I'd get my upper lip and chin lasered, and maybe investigate eyebrow microblading.

But it's more likely I'd get a couple of rooms redecorated and buy some plants for empty spots in the borders (box caterpillar, sob).
