Where is this leather jacket? Can you help me find it?

I've just given my All Saints £££ leather jacket to my daughter as I basically never wore it once in the 3 years I've had it - it always gave me DCI Gene Hunt vibes whenever I put it on and I'm not sure why? I could never come close to zipping it up and it felt a bit 'too' biker ish for me. Anyway - I basically wanted to love it but on me, I can't

I'm looking for something just a touch under the waist so not all crop length (but not oversized!) and not at all boxy. Not covered in too much chunky hardware. Preferably no quilting! Lovely, buttery soft leather would be a plus and has to be black.

Any ideas of where to look please? I'd spend a couple of hundred ish - the All Saints was about 350 and I don't want to to spend that again unless it was absolutely exceptional

I have a couple of lovely Massimo Dutti leather jackets - really lovely soft leather.

I love the look of this one

It's Alice Timperely at John Lewis

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 16:59

That's a nice one! I'll look at that thanks . Also looking at the M Dutti one too.
Hush also have a couple of nice ones too. I just don't want to make the All Saints mistake ... wish I could put my finger on what it was that made it not quite right

Thanks for suggestions so far.

What’s your budget? I have one from Whistles that sounds very similar to your description and I also have a beautiful one from Balenciaga (although that was disgustingly expensive, and mine is brown anyway). Comfy, flattering on, and I suspect will only get softer and better looking with time.

CharitySchmarity · 06/09/2020 18:31

Have a look at Joe Browns - I've been drooling over some of theirs recently.

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 18:31

Budget is a couple of hundred ideally - I'd go over £300 if I really liked it though. Not into the £400 + territory though

@CharitySchmarity I had a look at Joe Browns and didn't love them sadly Sad

Jigsaw? www.jigsaw-online.com/product/clean-leather-jacket/J33120_BK000

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 20:19

The jigsaw one is the closest I've seen so far to what I'm looking for so that's a definite contender thank you

I’ve got 3 leather jackets from Massimo Dutti and they’re fantastic quality.

coffeeandcardigans · 06/09/2020 20:53

I tried on a beautiful buttery leather jacket in a Reiss outlet shop today with very minimal hardware. I don't have a link but they are worth a look (expensive though!).

evilharpy · 06/09/2020 20:56

Would you wear a leather blazer?

Or this from Ted Baker seems to be cut slightly below the waist.

I get what you mean,,,I have this one from jäeger and love it, very soft, flattering fit and well made. My daughter has one from massimo dutti and it’s lovely.

I think you should look at non biker styles there are going to be loads around in the next year - blazers and all shapes. Autograph had a reasonably priced collarless leather jacket which has sold out quickly. Mango have one too but it looks like it has some sort of fabric/stretch panel on the sides.

I bought a leather blazer just before lockdown but it is a bit tight due to lockdown weight, I believe ovresized is how you are meant to wear blazers currently but that does nothing for me.

Lucked · 06/09/2020 21:08

Oh I love the black hardwear on the Jaeger one above. Must resist as no one needs 4 leather jackets!

Ellapaella · 06/09/2020 21:26

Which Allsaints one did you have OP?

Littlepoppet1 · 06/09/2020 21:35

I have the Ted Baker one that @evilharpy posted above. Absolutely love it!

Desperadododo · 06/09/2020 21:36

I have this one from whistles in a size 12 I do not wear and would like to sell. The shape doesn’t suit my frame. It’s so beautiful and buttery soft I haven’t wanted to part with it! But it’s sat on the rail in my wardrobe unworn for over a year

Lucked · 06/09/2020 21:39

The Ted Baker one above appears to be the same as one heavily discounted in TkMaxx here still lots of sizes available at the moment.

notanotherpothole · 06/09/2020 21:44

I have a gorgeous one from Hidepark. Its soft leather and very well made. Worth a look as they have a range of different styles.

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 22:03

@Ellapaella I've got the conroy . Well, my daughter has now! And I do like it but it's just too 'bikey' for me now - I just feel a bit like ' LOOK AT ME IN MY LEATHER JACKET!'

Almost like it's wearing me and not the other way round
