Where is this leather jacket? Can you help me find it?

I've just given my All Saints £££ leather jacket to my daughter as I basically never wore it once in the 3 years I've had it - it always gave me DCI Gene Hunt vibes whenever I put it on and I'm not sure why? I could never come close to zipping it up and it felt a bit 'too' biker ish for me. Anyway - I basically wanted to love it but on me, I can't

I'm looking for something just a touch under the waist so not all crop length (but not oversized!) and not at all boxy. Not covered in too much chunky hardware. Preferably no quilting! Lovely, buttery soft leather would be a plus and has to be black.

Any ideas of where to look please? I'd spend a couple of hundred ish - the All Saints was about 350 and I don't want to to spend that again unless it was absolutely exceptional

Don't think I'd wear a blazer style - I'm very very casual and always just wear Hush harem pants or joggers and a t shirt or sweatshirt. So I need something with a real casual vibe

How do the Massimo Dutti ones come up size wise as that's another consideration? I'm a very chubby size 12/14

Massimo dutti is small made for their leather jackets. I’d size up.

AllTheCakes · 06/09/2020 22:12

Not up there with the high end names, but this one from Tu looks similar to the Jigsaw one you liked up thread. tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Black-Leather-Biker-Jacket/137190677-Black?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

Sexnotgender · 06/09/2020 22:13

If a large 12/14 I’d get large or extra large from massimo dutti

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 22:15

I'm probably closer to a 14 than a 12 and I like a little bit of room so I'd be tempted by XL in Massimo I think as you've said that. I find that with a lot of these jackets they're restrictive anywhere due to the nature of them and I hate the trussed up feeling.

@ArfNArf I had the same dilemma with biker jackets for years. I tried loads and none of them ever liked quite right. Either too bulky on the shoulders or too loose to be flattering.
Eventually my Mum actually bought me the Allsaints cargo (see below) as a lovely surprise.. and it's perfect. Have a look as it's nicely fitted, not too bulky and is beautifully soft leather.
I think the Hush ones also look lovely.

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 22:17

@AllTheCakes I don't hate that at all! I'm actually quite tempted - I don't have to have a 'name' (although that's my preference which I know is stupid) so I may order it as you're right , it's similar to the Jigsaw one and I like that it's not quilted in places nor covered in jangly silver hardware

ArfNArf · 06/09/2020 22:19

@Ellapaella ooh that is nice. But I think I'm done with All Saints ones for now - I can't get the bloody things zipped up Grin

I'm a huge Hush fan anyway so very drawn to theirs

My taste a bit 1970s perhaps which might be like what you gave away but coach website usually has lovely leather jackets

Nannyamc · 06/09/2020 22:22

I bought the hobbs one about 5 years ago
Its perfect butter soft leather. I have worn it lots and still looks new. Comfortable and classy still get lots of compliments on it.

WiserOlder · 06/09/2020 22:24

Too 70s?

That is almost identical to the jigsaw one, and slightly better imo.

Candleabra · 06/09/2020 22:35

Lots of great jackets here. But still think they're all quite similar to the one you've just given away...
Have you worn and looked good in a leather jacket before? Maybe they're not your thing.
(No offence meant, there are items of clothing I love and wish I could wear, but always feel ridiculous, like I'm wearing dressing up clothes)

I went into All Saints one day a couple of years ago and tried on every single jacket they had and the Cargo was the clear winner, it fit me beautifully and had none of the flappiness or boxiness that many others seem to. Sadly I've just never been able to justify it being the owner of multiple leather jackets already, but I might treat myself this year.

LizzieMacQueen · 07/09/2020 15:50

Reiss and with your budget look out for their sale.

ArfNArf · 07/09/2020 16:35

The search is over!

I was all set on ordering the Sainsbury's one at £120 to see what it was like. But I was in a department store today and came across one from Jaeger and loved it! Tried it on and it was so so soft and comfortable to wear - I didn't feel all trussed up like I do in the All Saints one. It's not particularly blingy, there's no quilting and I can get it zipped up. Err just. Went for the size 14 and it's nice and slightly roomy in the arms and not tight over the shoulders.

I didn't want to spend £300 really but couldn't resist it

@Candleabra you may have a point there! I've got a lot of previous for buying things I want to look good in but maybe don't (hard stare at Grenson Nanettes and Acne pistol boots)

It's a thing of beauty OP 😍

ArfNArf · 07/09/2020 16:39

Oh and today I'm wearing New look black cuffed jogging bottoms, a cos plain black t shirt and some super ga trainers - so I'm my usual scruffy self! And the jacket just seemed to blend in nicely with it all

@Ellapaella oh thanks!

Maybe I'll move onto a winter coat next?! 😂
