My mid-40s Botox experience (good!)

Just posting to say, if you're my sort of age and undecided, do it!

I'd 'ummmed' and 'aaahed' about it for ages and kept persevering with different serums, moisturisers etc, hoping for the magic elixir!

Cost put me off and the worry of it going wrong, or looking silly. I finally had it for the first time last week. Saw a highly recommended local aesthetician who was very knowledgeable, went through all my concerns etc and even suggested I DIDN'T have my laughter lines done as it wouldn't suit.

The full results show in two weeks, but already I can see an amazing transformation. I look as happy as I am, rather than the slightly cross look my 11s gave. It looks natural, there's still movement, it just all looks a lot less creased! Like a nicely ironed pillow case

I love my botox too!! Started with 11s and crows feet and last session added in forehead. Been having it for a year and for the first time in my 48 years I've recieved compliments of 'you look well.

I’ve been having it for years off and on. I end up with a vertical line across the bridge of my nose which is terribly ageing and makes me look constantly miserable. Botox is the only think that lifts the area above this so as to remove this line.

I’m only 35 but have a very strong “11”. not so much to do with ageing, it’s something I’ve inherited off my dad and it’s always been there. I just feel so much better when I haven’t got my constant frown and my eyes feel more open.
I really look after my skin but only Botox will fix that I love it.

Don't know how to tag.... A friend told me where she'd had her lips done (I'd never have known, they look great) and I took it from there. Checked their Facebook page, feedback, the before and after photos etc. What I liked was that the two people who run it were both nurses previously. Years ago I'd read that was a good thing. It's hard to find recommendations though as it seems a lot of friends keep it secret! (Understandably, there's always a critic). I realised through lockdown that quite a few friends must have it, just from their photos on social media...as time went on their previously smooth forehead looked more like mine! That was the decider really, that "everyone else has it..." And it does look sooo much better. I've had a huge amount of stress and worry the last ten years, and it really showed in my face. Things are great now but the lines were there and I wanted to look as happy and chilled as I am.

I got my first lot last year age 45 and overall I love it. I’ve had it four times now and it seems to last only about 3 months and really does make me feel younger looking.

Only complaint is that it seems to make my cheeks look a bit more prominent when I smile. I am guessing this is because I have my crows feet done, which is amazing btw, completely gets rid of all wrinkles so I don’t want to not have that part done. Oh and also my eyebrows slightly went up at the ends last time. I will be looking for a new practitioner now as I have moved town. Does anyone know of anything I can do to stop this happening or is it just one of those things that happens?

Does botox help if you get those weird lines down diagonally from your nose to the sides of your mouth?

It always looks like my face is sliding off but I'm only 30

You do know the dose doth maketh the poison? The dose of Botox used for cosmetic procedures is miniscule, far far bigger doses are used in medical treatment and it is still safe. As an example, I would consider alcohol, a grade 1 carcinogen, with very many potential serious health sequelae, a far greater 'toxin'.
Apple seeds are toxic, they contain a form of cyanide, and are a great example of the dose making the poison. Even water can be toxic, depending on the dose. So no, Botox won't poison you. But I digress.

I'm with you OP. I love the results.

I'm 53 and had Botox for the first time 2 weeks ago. I love it! Going back for a top up today as my 11's haven't diminished much.

@Derelictwreck I don’t think Botox can help with that but filler can sort that out - it may be a cheek filler to lift and so the side effect is the nose to mouth lines are reduced, or you can have filler directly on that area. I’ve had each one and the cheek filler is my first choice though last time I had filler left over and she put it right on the nose / mouth area but right at the nose part. It made a subtle difference without being noticeable. No bruising and no complaints.

@Derelictwreck no you need filler in your cheeks which lifts them and smooths out those lines. They're called naso labial folds.
I also had filler a month before the Botox , non surgical face lift. Great results

I think the proper name for 11s is frown lines.

They are glabellar lines.

You do realise that pretty much everything is 'poison' right? It's just fuse dependent.

Also why the objection to an adult making a legal informed decision for themselves? Should we all be checking in with you first??
