Black jersey wide leg trousers?

Asterope · 22/08/2020 10:33

I have some tummy trouble and can't have anything tight on my waist but I don't want to look like I'm in loungewear either. I can't find anything suitable! Hoping I will find some recommendations here. M&S looked hopeful but out of stock🤞🤞

I have a pair of the s&s trousers and i like them, but i don't love them. They are very comfortable, though, and I've had compliments on them.

I also have their biker jacket and i love that! I don't think there's a quality issue, but i don't really buy very expensive clothes anyway, so what do i know?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 23/08/2020 07:48

I've got some from H&M

LadyCurd · 23/08/2020 07:50

I just ordered the saint and Sofia ones thanks to this thread (sucker!) but now I’m worried about the fabric as I am mega fussy about fabrics. Is it a super soft stretch jersey cotton? if it’s at all rough or static generating (generally too much acrylic or polyester in the stretch mix ) then it will set my teeth on edge and I won’t be able to wear them!

Immigrantsong · 23/08/2020 07:52

@CeeceeBloomingdale can you please put a link? I would like to get some affordable ones.

SpringerJS · 23/08/2020 07:52

I have the Baukjen palazzo pants and would recommend, thick food quality jersey and v comfy. Also have the Neath tapered trousers from them which are actually smart enough for work too.

I've looked through and can't see the exact ones I bought but if you search "wide trousers" on their website a few alternatives come up. Annoyingly I splashed bleach on mine the other day so I'm in the market for a new pair too. They were something like £12.99 or £14.99 so great value.

Asterope · 23/08/2020 09:04

@LadyCurd I'm the same! Was just about to order their runway pants then saw they were mainly polyester. I'm more interested in the cotton ones. Which ones did you get?

I like the look of the White Company ones.

I completely agree. Hate polyester and can't understand why there is so much of it (who buys the crap) and why it is so overpriced.

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 23/08/2020 11:55

I can confirm Me &Em jersey is amazing quality and White Company is absolutely not! I'm always shocked at their clothing prices.
I am interested in Saint and Sophia quality as the clothes look lovely.

Estrellente · 23/08/2020 13:28

I have the Saint &Sofia trousers and I LOVED them... till I washed them for the first time and the black faded massively. Gutted as they were exactly what I wanted but after a wash they looked awful.

LadyCurd · 23/08/2020 16:46

I went back to double check and it says 92% organic cotton 8% elastane so will report back. Shame about the washing of them though!

Mystraightenersarebroken · 23/08/2020 20:19

I coveted some Saint & Sofia ones and waited with excitement for the 34" leg to become available.

I was so disappointed. The fit was very unflattering - I am 5'10" and size 8. The fabric was unpleasant and cheap looking.

itssquidstella · 23/08/2020 20:22

I had some great ones last year from Cos.

Asterope · 23/08/2020 20:28

@Mystraightenersarebroken Which trousers were they?

Starting to worry now.. :/

SlipsAndLols · 24/08/2020 17:37

I’m a shortarse, I’ve got some Saint&Sophia ones and I love them. I’ve worn and washed them loads since lockdown too. They didn’t fade when I washed them, they’ve always been washed at 30C with Persil washing liquid if it makes a difference.

I'd buy more if I wasn't due to go back to work soon. I will when the colder weather sets in.

They are made from soft, stretch jersey cotton.

I didn't contact customer services so I can't comment on that, my parcel arrived quickly and in good order.

tentative3 · 24/08/2020 17:44

I've been toying with the saint and Sofia ones for months now and have an endless stream of adverts from them on Facebook. I can't see anything else that's quite the same. Me + Em only have them in size 6, baukjen they're viscose. I'd love to see some reviews from people on here reporting back on purchases if they don't mind

Kolo · 24/08/2020 17:49

[quote balzamico]I have lived in a pair I got from Monki recently. I'm 5'4" and they're full length not cropped on me. They're kind of silky on the inside so they hang beautifully

I was going to suggest Monki. They're very good at the wide leg trousers. Such comfortable clothing, very flattering, great sizing for all body types and really reasonable prices.

Kittyclaws · 24/08/2020 17:52

Try boohoo they have some decent quality petite wide leg trousers

Si1ver · 24/08/2020 17:58

There was a thread on this a while back and I bought some Boden trousers off the back of it.

I think it was this set and I seem to remember it was worth sizing down

Asterope · 24/08/2020 18:00

@SlipsAndLols - was it the Camden ones you had? I'm interested in the apartment and runway ones too

OP posts:
SlipsAndLols · 24/08/2020 18:18

Wink I'll tell you if you promise not to tell my DH Grin

I bought the Camden Wide Legs in black and I loved them so much that I bought some more in Navy with a pair of Pimlico Pants.

I like them all and the Pimlico Pants are just about smart enough to wear to work with some heels, a satin shirt and my ethically soured pearl necklace.

SlipsAndLols · 24/08/2020 18:19

sourced not soured obviously.

Asterope · 24/08/2020 18:23

Thanks for sharing @SlipsAndLols - also tempted by the Pimlico!
