Curly girl method curl hold for fine wavy hair

I started the CGM nearly 2 weeks ago thanks to MN. I'm loving it so far but need to tweak my products.

I'm happy with my co-wash/deep conditioner/plopping.

It's the product to hold my curls/waves that I'm struggling with.

I was using Boots gel which was easy to use and kept my waves for 3 days but it came at a price as it is very drying on my hair and made my hair feel like straw.

Yesterday I used just the Noughty Wave Hello Curl Taming Cream on it's own instead of then applying the gel. This left my hair lovely and soft but with less definition and today the waves have pretty much fallen out.

I like to scrunch the crunch but I want soft hair more and I'm wondering if all products that produce a crunch will do this to my hair?

Does anyone have any product suggestions for fine and wavy hair? I can't use anything too heavy.

I use Aussie freeze gel. To get volume I rake through a leave in conditioner, then micro plop, then scrunch in gel with wet hands. My hair is fine and thin but I can get two decent days of soft curls with limited frizz.

@welshiecurlgirl on Instagram is a good person to follow for tips for fine curly hair.

Boucleme gel made my hair feel sticky, bumble and bumble left it looking greasy, mousse doesn't give it enough hold. Curlsmith was an expensive disaster. I've been through A LOT of products!!!

@marriednotdead

It’s not strictly CG but I have fine frizz prone curls that are happiest with Palmers olive oil shampoo and conditioner. Tried the co wash but not effective enough for me. Also use the leave in conditioner spray from the same range daily but the game changer is Sebastian whipped creme- nothing like it for curl definition after washing and it smells divine. Expensive but worth it, been using it for years and on the rare occasion I’ve run out, the difference is dramatic!
This is mine, as you can see I don’t dye it and my mask has slipped Grin

@marriednotdead fab hair!!

Yesterday I used just the UG jelly and it wasn't too bad. I was outside all day in the heat so probably not the best day to judge.

My hair still feels very dry but it is bleached so that won't help.

@marriednotdead your hair is lovely!
So is your lipstick - may I ask which one that is? 🙂

Flaxseed gel. 100%. I have similar hair to you. It's super moisturising, so won't leave hair dry and the hold is fantastic.

My hair sounds like yours (2B curls after the shower, 2A the following days). Co-washing didn't work for me. I found Low-Poo much better. I'm currently using a mixture of DevaCurl SuperCream, which I found shitty, with OSIS+ Bouncy Curls, which are ok. They sort of work. My favourite styling product so far was L'Oreal Professionnel's Fix Max (tecni.art) which is apparently designed for males but works nonetheless.

Following recommendations with interest, though not much is avaliable in my corner of the world.

@raspberryraindrops thanks, it's taken a lot of years to like my hair and even longer to find products to tame it. I have received a lot of unexpected compliments (from other women I hasten to add!) about my 'highlights' which at this invisible age is a nice boost Smile

@IlonaRN it's Maybelline superstay 24hour in 340 Absolute Plum. Had to dig it out, it's usually my everyday go to but I haven't had the need to wear any in ages!
