Plus size gym gear that's not see through?

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 14:36

I have a pair of Lucy Locket Loves but I'm not massively impressed. I bought my size and they stretch so much they go almost white and look ridiculous. They also slip down quite badly and I constantly have to tug them up! I did originally buy some from Tesco but they were very see through so I took them straight back. It's hard to find some that are squat proof, not see through and not insanely expensive!

Have a look on Instagram at fullerfigurefullerbust, George works out every day and I think may even have her own sports gear range, it’ll be on there.

My best leggings have come from H&M, although you need to buy online as the shops don't carry all sizes in my experience. Had a few pairs and much less see through than the likes of Adidas (and much cheaper!)

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 17:59

What about Yours Clothing? Their prices seem reasonable, anyone tried their stuff out?

I got some xxl leggings from Costco and honestly they are so soft but don't go see through at all. £12 for two pairs as well

Jellycatspyjamas · 07/08/2020 21:20

I’m a size 18 and buy Sturdy by Design - leggings are definitely squat proof.

CrotchetyQuaver · 07/08/2020 21:29

be brutally honest with yourself about what size you need to get rather than what's the smallest size you can squeeze into and just get some big black granny knickers to wear underneath. nobody will be offended by their outline if it shows. it doesn't matter how small and pert your backside is or isn't, it's horrible when the person behind gets to see the outline of your thong because it transpires the leggings are see through under strain.

Tikiboo.

Have Lucy lockets and Tikiboo and Tikiboo are fat superior for fit and quality. They don't go white.

tldr · 07/08/2020 21:52

Tikiboo.

I buy from Yours for normal clothes but I wouldn’t expect their workout wear to be technical or moisture-wicking or anything.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 22:00

@CrotchetyQuaver I know exactly what size I am thanks Hmm

Tikiboo look amazing but they're so expensive Sad

What size are you? Plus size starts at 16, which will have a much wider range of shops then if you’re over a size 20. I’m a 16-18 and find H&M and decathlon good value and I don’t think they’re see through (although I mostly work out at home). And I know you were snippy with crotcheyquaver but my first thought was also that the leggings you desk fine in your OP sound too small.

secretnurse · 07/08/2020 22:15

I swore by Sainsbury's leggings when I was bigger, they're amazing!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 07/08/2020 22:23

Sainsburys or primark. I’m not usually a primark shopper but my sister gave me a set of primark work out gear for Christmas and it was fab. Black leggings that have stayed black and are not see through. Nice shaped t shirt. Could have been a fraction longer for my liking but has washed and worn really well.

Think for the top and leggings it was about £12. Comes up quite big. An xl is an 18/20 I think and I’m a 16/18 and exchanged for the L. I have brought more leggings since as well.
Masonry be fooled into fabletics. They are not great especially for the price. If you get the two for £24 deal (think it might be two for £28 in plus size) and cancel then yes the pricing is about right but the supposed rrp is well off of the mark.

Other reasonable places have been Sainsburys. Again leggings come up big so size down. Have some fab dark blue with a pink/black/blue pattern cropped ones that were £10 ish.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 22:27

I'm 18-20 which is so frustrating because a lot of places do sizes like this: 16-18, 20-22 Hmm I got size 18 LLL because they say if you're between sizes, size down 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe they're just on the small side or something, I don't know.

Sorry @CrotchetyQuaver I didn't mean to be snippy, I'm just getting so pissed off with stupid sizing and/or see through leggings Sad

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 22:28

Oh yes I get plenty of Fabletics sponsored ads on my Facebook feed. The amount of angry reacts and comments is enough to put anyone off! Who TF needs gym clothes on a subscription anyway?

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/08/2020 22:31

Will check Sainsburys out, thanks. My town is ridiculously useless and we don't have Primark or Sainsbos, or even Asda! Our New Look closed down and our Next is pitifully small. We do have a Sports Direct but I'm not keen to shop there.

HermioneWeasley · 07/08/2020 22:33

The fabletics subscription model is indeed baffling, but you can cancel straight away. I got 2 pairs of their power hold leggings for £24 and then cancelled my subscription before it was charged.

The leggings are brilliant - soft, thick, don’t roll down and hold you in (very flattering!]. I’m a size 16 and take the large.

AuntieStella · 07/08/2020 22:45

Try Decathlon

Stay ck levels are a bit weird at the moment though.

But they really cannot be beaten for value for money; they don't go see through, and have useful things like people diets and drawstrings

AuntieStella · 07/08/2020 22:46

'stock' not stay ck

AriettyHomily · 07/08/2020 22:53

Fabletics. The leggings are fab. Get the offer of two for £49 or whatever it is and then cancel the subscription. They are the only truly squat proof leggings I've ever had.

tldr · 07/08/2020 22:54

Oh yes, Sainsbury’s! I liked them when I was smaller. 😂

Far superior staying-up power to Marks and other high street ones.

SospanFrangipan · 07/08/2020 22:55

Nike leggings are the best I've come across! They're super comfy and don't go see through x

Tangelo · 07/08/2020 23:02

I have two pairs of Nike leggings - the more expensive ones are more squat proof. I also have a couple of pairs of M&S Good Move leggings - they are nice and thick, but I find the pair without a drawstring tend to fall down given half a chance

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 07/08/2020 23:04

Next own brand were good as well. I always forget about them though. Have a feeling I sized up as in an 18 not a 16 for them to be not see through though.

GreenPlum · 07/08/2020 23:06

I got LOADS last week to try on at home. Yours stuff was shit. Sent it all back. Simply Be wasn't much better. M&S go up to size 24 and it was all fab. Kept it.
