Plus size gym gear that's not see through?

I have a pair of Lucy Locket Loves but I'm not massively impressed. I bought my size and they stretch so much they go almost white and look ridiculous. They also slip down quite badly and I constantly have to tug them up! I did originally buy some from Tesco but they were very see through so I took them straight back. It's hard to find some that are squat proof, not see through and not insanely expensive!

I use Next for gym leggings, they wash well and aren't see through -as far as I know! Although the tops are always a bit long and skinny for me. Prefer a baggier top!

notapizzaeater · 07/08/2020 23:17

LLL say there's aren't see through, I'd get in touch tbh and see what they say.

They do two ranges, one for exercise and one for general use.
@CrotchetyQuaver I know exactly what size I am thanks Hmm
sorry no offence intended, but i find sizes all over the place myself, i never know what size will fit, even using the measurements given in a guide Confused

I've just bought a pair from Primark and they're great. Not see through at all.
Sports direct is great for leggings. They sell all brands cheaper than most places.
Nike are usually pretty good.

Little tip though. Don't wear black knickers under them wear flesh coloured. You won't see them when squatting. Smile

Can I just say I HATE leggings? I’ve got drumstick thighs and they accentuate my worst bits. Why why why?

Lucygucy · 08/08/2020 07:09

I find Matalan good for a budget option. I will be honest though and say I've never checked if they are squat proof.
I'd also recommend tikiboo and sturdy by design. If you have Facebook, they both have buy and sell pages where you can pick up leggings a bit cheaper.

ASOS curve 4505 range is very good - I like their leggings in particular

bookish83 · 08/08/2020 07:56

I am a different size to you but carry weight on my bum/thighs. I tend to err on the side of caution and size up on leggings! This only works if they have a decent, tight waistband so that they don't fall down. Supermarket brands tend to be a bit flimsy..

I have had good success with m&s leggings, however I mainly wear Nike.

I believe Nike do a curves range and it is on asos. I wear a L in Nike leggings but my actual size is a M. Never had an issue with see through xx

Habbyhadno · 08/08/2020 07:58

M&S all the way. Fit well and an ok price

chatwoo · 08/08/2020 08:19

This is like seeking the holy grail!... I've spent a fortune on Nike and Yogamatters leggings... both are completely opaque and squat proof, but fall down like a b@stard!

Going to look at M&S now!

AuntieStella · 08/08/2020 08:37

If you have more to spend, go for contra-movement.com

More expensive (ethical brand made in Europe) , good quality

What do you wear for exercise instead? I'm guessing - as squat proof needed - that these are for gym classes. And I'd have thought close fitting was the better choice for practical reasons.

(Then again, I'm a runner, so what do I know!)

MrDarcysMa · 08/08/2020 10:00

fabletics power hold are amazing. super opaque.

doodleygirl · 08/08/2020 10:02

Have you tried Asos? They do an own brand legging which are not see through at all.

FlamingoAndJohn · 08/08/2020 10:05

M&S. Not the cheapest but really thick, fit well and has a key pocket as well as a phone pocket.

FlamingoAndJohn · 08/08/2020 10:07

These are the ones I have.
Really good. www.marksandspencer.com/go-move-cropped-gym-leggings/p/clp60376133?color=NAVYMIX#intid=prodColourId-60457718

Definitely M&S. I’d been struggling with finding some that stay up.

I have one pair from Primark which I love, but they are full length and I get too hot in this weather when running. I was just turning them up. I’d tried some from Sainsburys which were nice but rolled down. Got some from Sports Direct (Karimoor I think) that was super see through.

Got the Sainsburys Good Move (maybe Go Move) cropped leggings, worn then a few times and they are just perfect. Stay up, super thick and not at all see through. Loving them.
