Vogue - do you love or hate its new direction

Personally I hate it. I think Enninful is an awful editor and that if he wants to be a social campaigner then Editor of Vogue is not the right job for him. I buy Vogue for fashion and escapism and sometimes good journalism, not for virtue signalling by the fashion industry. i won't be buying it again whilst Enninful is editor.

I agree it feels more about activism than fashion now, but to me the old Vogue felt more about well connected society girls called Bunty than fashion, which I found really tedious.

I not bought it since he has become editor largely because I don't buy mags any more & Vogue had already lost because of the above. Used to buy it religiously in the 90s though, it doesn't really seem relevant anymore.

I actually wanted to buy a magazine yesterday & couldn't find a fashion one. I'm tired of the ad instagram model & miss flicking through a glossie. Will buy Vogue when I next see it.

I really agree @meltedintheheat. I am honestly considering buying it for the first time in ages. So, maybe they're on to something!

I love it but then I'm a Black female activist. Tired of seeing white images dominate magazines. Fashion steals from Black street looks anyway and always has done. Time to give jobs and power to us for a change.

That's a little different to hating the direction, people abandoning the magazine and its advertisers doing likewise though, which is what I thought you were implying up thread.
So we've been arguing all afternoon for nothing Grin Apologies if that's down to me - I've been trying to make a top (my contribution to fashion sustainablilty) so haven't been 100% focused.

No, I don't hate it. But I'm sceptical, both about Vogue changing and the world changing. While I don't miss those awful Society columns from the old Vogue days, I'm not convinced whether what we have now is any less cliquey. This is the first edition I've read in ages and frankly, I'd have preferred more clothes because that, is basically why I buy a fashion magazine. But as long as Enninful is pulling in the advertisers, he's untouchable.

That's alright, because I didn't even think we were arguing GrinGrinGrin!

I can understand why you're sceptical FWIW. But, things do change, and fashion does tend to reflect that. So I like this shift towards something more ethical and hope it does continue.
