Yes that green and black dress looks lovely on her (had a squint when you mentioned her) I think it really suits her colouring.
I just got the long Oxford shirt today in lilac thanks to the John Lewis discount. It’s a lovely shade not too summery and lovely weight now it’s getting cooler (not that it was ever warm here) .
Anyone bought anything else?

Laska2Meryls · 24/08/2020 17:57

Brilliant faustina .. I have kind of given up on getting one though ( having just missed a couple last week)..I did get 28% off the black one though , but that was still £92! I do love it though .. Also got the striped Emma T and a Francis T in cumin.. ( all from Toast with the 20%.. but even withthat discount allwas was just shy of 200 !! Hmm )

But today a pair of the Gabi trousers in Dark Cyan arrived ( ebay purchase BNWT and a really good price ) very pleased with them..

I also bought the Kin denim dress with the 20% JL code last week..

I do need to stop buying..!
(have had another ebay sale of a few things myself though since I was last here )

Laska2Meryls · 24/08/2020 17:58

Was 20% off the Toast stuff, (not 28) I had a mention me code

Laska2Meryls · 24/08/2020 18:01

Here is the Kin dress.. This is the XS !

Looks good with my Toast Japanese linen trousers, I think..

AmethystMoonShine · 24/08/2020 18:26

Yes @Saurus72 her shoes were fabulous weren’t they!

faustina · 24/08/2020 18:59

@Laska2Meryls - love the dress! I ordered that giant gingham shirt last week - and it really was too giant so it went straight back.

I should think almost your entire wardrobe is toast by now - I must say mine is pretty much too, thanks to good old John Lewis, and I'm really looking forward to playing with it over the next few months - especially if we go the way of the rest of Europe virus-wise.

ilovecherries · 24/08/2020 19:08

She looks fab in that dress. She looks tiny in that pic though, I always imagined her as tall. Maybe she’s just standing next to giants!

I sent the gingham shirt back also faustina Mine was an 8 .. but just far too big.. I knew that I would never actually wear it .. Ioften wonder who buys the large sizes in Kin.. as I am usually a 12/14 on top.

Yes! I have a lot of Toast now.. today I have been wearing the blue Japanese linen trousers from 2019 summer sale and a long blue chambray stripe shirt from a couple of years ago.. Grin..

Morning everyone, oldies and newbies alike! Warning: random (and possibly very boring) sock alert coming up...actually it’s not that random as there was a query about decent brands of socks many pages ago. Anyway, since I am very particular about socks (sensory issue), one of my preferences is for bamboo socks by Thought. Naturally, these are £££ - usually £7 a pair in my local eco shop. However, I have just discovered them in TK Maxx for £2.49 a pair or £5.99 for three, as opposed to £18.95. For those not yet keen to venture into stores, they are also online

www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/clothing/lingerie+nightwear/socks+tights/multicolour-winter-fruit-print-three-pack-sock-set/p/55016566

The colours and patterns are glorious, and, in my humble opinion, the perfect foil to Toast fabrics and shapes. Today, I’m wearing my Japanese indigo pleat front trousers with the duck egg blue pear print socks and my trusty Veja V10s!

ilovecherries · 25/08/2020 16:54

I ordered all the socks, thanks moom. September always requires new socks and these look lovely.

I have ordered the Sadie shirt with the discount here so many thanks - also a few sale pairs of trousers from Jigsaw. I think I need a 20% code for Toast as well - my wish list is long. Starting to head into work more frequently which means a slightly different wardrobe - Toast dresses and trousers feel a bit too stylish - am I weird??

Moominmammaatsea · 25/08/2020 18:32

@Laska2Meryls, quick, check out the new Toast online workshops - there’s a basketry one and I thought you might be keen, given your Cercle bag & penchant for raffia!

I’ve booked myself into the autumn styling event with Graham St and Toast, plus the natural pigments and a Japanese one for my 12-year-old, who is obsessed with anything to do with Japan. Can’t wait!

cherries, I’m glad the Thought sock spot was useful for you. I hear you, regardless of age, I love the back-to-school anticipation of new socks (and shoes)!

Laska2Meryls · 25/08/2020 19:57

Oh thanks I will look moomin.. I managed to miss the last one I booked though (indigo dyeing) Blush. I wore my new Toast Emma top and the Gabi trousers that I bought on ebay today. Really pleased with both ..

Lovely outfit, Laska, I’ve been eyeing up that t-shirt, especially as I love a striped top and they’re all ‘my’ colours; what’s the sizing like? Bearing in mind that I have various Toast T-shirts in Size M that could probably house an entire family and then there’s the linen boy t-shirt which was clearly made for a doll rather than a grown woman!

I’m still managing to pick up the odd bargain on the JL site - I’ve bought the linen slub jumpers in olive and bone and I’m just off out to collect the linen cap sleeve sweater in bone that I’ve been coveting for weeks. I also reordered your Monty Don jacket, which I rashly and foolishly sent back, and I’m wardrobing it for next summer.

A surprise purchase - as in it definitely is better in real life than in the very drab photo rather than a wine-fuelled shopping spree - was the twill wrap-around pleated skirt. I ordered it because it was hanging around on the JL site for weeks, making it look untidy! 😂

Laska2Meryls · 25/08/2020 20:50

The Emma tee I am wearing is a L (I do like them loose as im busty with wide shoulders) and I think the same sizing as the red linen half sleeve one recently in the JLsale if you bought that.

But I think I could have got away with the M as its relaxed a little on wearing all day..
I do think that the boy tees are bigger. ( With the exception of that white linen one.. which was small)
So maybe go smaller?

Laska2Meryls · 25/08/2020 20:55

My last JL purchase was the Almond print shirt which was much nicer than I thought it would be .. Oh and I did get the slate linen jacket as a late buy also.. I was really thrilled to get that as I had previously bought it in Toast own sale and the JL one was about £35 cheaper Smile . Not worn it yet though ..
I have worn my Monty Don jacket lots !

faustina · 26/08/2020 15:37

If anyone still doesn't have enough linen trousers yet, I've just had these delivered and they're lovely! Full length on me (5'4) so I roll them up. Fantastic quality thick linen with a kind of button opening like the toast denim trousers.
Also this top - equally lovely. I didn't know Seasalt were so nice!

Spottyegg · 26/08/2020 19:49

Here I am at work wearing my Franca dress in indigo twill - this is a 10 - bought what seems like ages ago at beg of sale

Toast the Third
Moominmammaatsea · 26/08/2020 20:25

@Spottyegg, you look absolutely lovely! I’m glad you caved in and decided to wear your new Toast dress to work. I, too, have been guilty in the past of saving things for best and leaving new garments hanging in the wardrobe while rotating the same-old same-old boring outfits while stuck in my comfort zone of boring-ness. Posters here have encouraged me to be a bit braver and bolder and to take joy in clothes in the same way as I do art, for example. I’ve previously felt very guilty for ‘squandering’ money on clothes for myself, as the parent of two children. I’ve really enjoyed my new Toast 70pc off at JL wardrobe and the camaraderie here has really played a positive role in protecting my mental health and well-being during lockdown. I’ve finally realised that appreciating beautiful clothes doesn’t make me a shallow person.

ilovecherries · 26/08/2020 21:10

It sounds a bit naff, but I see beautiful clothes as a type of self care. By choosing them, (whether new or second hand), wearing them with pleasure, caring for them, I believe the message we are sending to ourselves is that we are deserving of good things, and that we matter.

Great philosophy Cherries I completely agree.
I bought this Kin shirt I am wearing today for 18 on ebay.. Arrived yesterday.. Nice eh? Not sure if we are still 'allowed' to wear leggings according to MN S&B but , Poo ! I am! Grin

ilovecherries · 27/08/2020 10:11

faustina · 27/08/2020 11:06

@Spottyegg - that dress is so beautiful on you!

@Laska2Meryls - love that shirt! Hadn't thought of looking on eBay for Kin

Completely agree about the beautiful clothes. it's been the most delightful distraction and we are all worth lovely, interesting clothes!
