Argh!! Missed them again! Damn you cake-making on my day off!! I missed the Alix again and @neveradullmoment99 I'd be quite interested to see what the check smock thing is like, I have been looking out for it for ages but it hasn't come back on sale very often!

Moominmammaatsea · 28/07/2020 17:12

@neveradullmoment99, I was duelling with you for the boy linen T-shirt - shall we make it a fight to the death next time? Winner obviously gets to keep the T-shirt. Wink

@Saurus72, I know, but I’m not counting my chickens till I’ve got my grubby mitts on the actual size 10s!

faustina · 28/07/2020 17:13

@Moominmammaatsea - I missed everything but I am so so glad you got the trousers!!!!!

faustina · 28/07/2020 17:15

@neveradullmoment99 I have been stalking that gingham shirt for ages! If you don't like it, would you mind very much messaging me before sending back?

Moominmammaatsea · 28/07/2020 17:17

@Uponmytiptoes, so sorry, in all the excitement of (possibly) finally getting my hands on the trousers that have so nearly been mine, I forgot my manners and neglected to say thank you for the JL tip-off. Much appreciated!

Railingsohno · 28/07/2020 17:29

@Saurus72 that’s really lovely. Will be perfect for autumn

slipperyeel · 28/07/2020 18:32

Just grabbed the linen sleeveless sweater in bone from JL at £37.50, there was a medium in stock!

Moominmammaatsea · 28/07/2020 18:39

@faustina, thanks! I think I’m a bit over-invested in these trousers!

@slipperyeel, good for you, my fingers were hovering on the ‘add to basket’ button but I really don’t need any more sweaters.

@Saurus72, the Maud skirt looks lovely styled for autumn; you’ve given me inspiration as I have it also and I was loving wearing it with the white linen tee plus my red Saltwaters back when the skies were blue (a distant memory here, where I was today wearing my - Toast boro grey wrap -scarf because it was only 13-degrees).

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2020 19:26

@faustina - Will message you if returning :)

Countmeout · 28/07/2020 19:44

I went to the garden centre and missed it all!
The Oatmeal long sleeve T-shirt arrived ( the Ashley jeans are following, possibly tomorrow or Thursday) the colour does nothing for me so it’s going back. Bit disappointing but probably as well.

Countmeout · 28/07/2020 19:48

I like those boots @Dottty.
I have a pair of Bertie Peplume boots from the January sale
This is them in black , mine are brown though

Dottty · 28/07/2020 20:32

Alix 12 Desert on JL now

Moominmammaatsea · 28/07/2020 20:38

Go, go, go! Two pairs of Alix 12 Desert now live!

Laska2Meryls · 29/07/2020 09:39

Oh I missed it all as well, had family visitors for the first time since February..my linen boy T arrived and the bone shoulders pleat one ( which is a bit too big) but nice anyway.. .

Laska2Meryls · 29/07/2020 10:00

I found that the linen boy T cane up small, but as I had only been able to grap xl anyway that wasn't a problem. i reckon the L should be ok Never.. I would like to get the shoulder pleat one in a smaller size though .. hopefully more will come back in.
Goldpendant I only ebay things singly. And only well known labels ( like Toast or Hush) in vgc or new with or without tags ..have found that its not worth bothering for anything else . You can check recently sold item prices by clicking 'completed listings' in the side bar if you search for your item

Saurus72 · 29/07/2020 10:23

@goldpendant I’m in the midst of an eBaying frenzy and agree with Laska re: listing well-known brands. So far I’ve sold 38 things and made over £800 so I’m pleased - just working up to the last few, about 15 more I reckon.

I’ve found very little rhyme or reason as to what gets a good price and what doesn’t. Whistles seems to be consistently good, Jigsaw seems to have very little resale value whereas to my mind, they’re similar in quality/price. I put in lots of measurements and had no queries about sizes etc which saves a lot of to-big and fro-ing.

The biggest surprise was a Mulberry coin purse that I had used every day for 5 years and was in very ‘well-loved’ condition (that I pointed out in the description/photos) but it sold at a buy it now price within 30 mins 🤷‍♀️.

I’ve found ending listings on a Sunday evening works best for me - weekends are when the most bids seem to come in. I haven’t found any difference between listing for 5 or 7 days - it’s the end day/time that has most influence I think.

I’ve sold quite a few silver jewellery pieces (Alex Monroe/Tiffany) that I haven’t worn for years and got good prices on those.

Good luck, the eBay app is pretty good - hearing all the bids come in is addictive 😊

goldpendant · 29/07/2020 10:49

Thank you both! Very helpful, I'm
Going to have a go with a whistles dress and see how it goes!

Laska2Meryls · 29/07/2020 11:13

Good haul SaurusSmile. I am up to 900 now ( paid for all my Toast bargains!) . I have a few more finishing today.. weekends are good but since lockdown have found weekdays just as good but yes finish them 19.30 to 21.30 for best results .. (you can schedule when they start to save you having to actually do it at the time) . Lots of photos, lots of measurements.. point out any faults with photo and if new ( with or without tags )say in the title ..

Gymntonic · 29/07/2020 11:13

John Lewis delivery has brought the blue poplin dress and the faux wrap green and gold one to my door. The poplin dress is a strange fabric, seems almost shower resistantConfused. I'm not sure it's especially flattering but is very easy wearing. People are selling theirs on eBay already at twice the price I paid thoughShock.

The faux wrap dress is a bit gaping at the bust, despite having lots of fabric, and I'm not especially busty. Maybe my wide shoulders pushing it out of shape again. It's nice from the waistband down. I do have the green Tokyo dress, which I prefer, but I could imagine wearing this to work quite often. Assuming I ever go back into work, that is. I'll have to play around with a pin and maybe add a press stud to save my modesty.
Scrolling back through and I see the denim pinafore has had mixed reviewsGrin. I do like mine but I can now see what you all mean about the shoulders.
Just awaiting some Alix trousers in a 12, ordered last night. I could do with some longer length ones really but we'll have to see.

Laska2Meryls · 29/07/2020 11:14

Meanwhile I am still stalking JL because I am an obsessive 😂😂

Saurus72 · 29/07/2020 11:30

Me too @Laska2Meryls 😉. I want the khaki linen coat dress and another linen boy t-shirt.

Laska2Meryls · 29/07/2020 11:40

What are you doing with them all?

Saurus72 · 29/07/2020 11:48

T-shirts? I only have one so far - would like some more because it’s so lovely to wear with PJ bottoms. May venture into dyeing..,

Gymntonic · 29/07/2020 11:58

@Saurus72 I have some Toast linen t shirts from many years ago. Picked up in a sale. They are absolutely the most comfortable thing to sleeping in. After many machine washes, one has developed a small hole. Fantastic quality
