She looks stunning, and so lovely that the dress and tiara was leant to her by the queen ?

Not keen on the puffy sleeves and odd length but it's quite pretty otherwise.
My least fave of all the recent royal wedding dresses but she still looks lovely.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/07/2020 00:11

Interestingly enough, I just googled QEII and Beatrice's heights and they're both 5'4" (I'm sure HM is shorter now). So the gown didn't really need to be lengthened with the right shoe unless Bea has much longer legs.

I wonder if the fabric was added to the bottom to protect the original fabric from possible damage or getting dirty at the hemline.

853ax · 20/07/2020 00:22

She looked amazing love the dress, the sentiment ect.
Best of luck to them in married life
Who would want to look in a shop when granny has palace full of ball dresses wow

Mintlegs · 20/07/2020 00:24

Loved it, the sentiment, the style, it’s cool, classy, sophisticated. It was simple, a triumph! (Compared to some of the things she has worn).

LightDrizzle · 20/07/2020 00:33

She looks beautiful but I don’t like the length or the deep hem, the hem in particular, it doesn’t fit with the rest of the dress at all.
I love the sentiment but aside from Diana’s crumpled monstrosity, it’s probably my least favourite royal wedding dress.
It’s lovely in parts but that hem really irks me.

QuidcoQueen · 20/07/2020 00:38

I adore it. The jewels are amazing. I love vintage so this is right up my street.

Chienloup · 20/07/2020 00:41

It's an utterly beautiful dress and all the photos look so gorgeous.

TheCraicDealer · 20/07/2020 01:13

There's a definite filter/sepia tone to the photos which probably makes the dress look a warmer tone than irl.

I love it. I would have loved to have seen some additional jewel embellishment along the hem to soften the join a bit, but I suppose that might have been a deliberate choice. I wouldn't have picked the sleeves myself but the end result looks amazing.

Small private wedding of 20 guests, she walked to church, recycled dress, bouncy castle at the reception- it sounds really refreshing for a royal do!

EvilHerbivore · 20/07/2020 01:36

I'm sure Zara's wedding dress had a band like that around the bottom too

Limpshade · 20/07/2020 01:57

This is very my aesthetic (without the budget) and l love it. Good for her! As a PP mentioned, she has gotten quite a bit of flak for her clothing before so how lovely that she looked this great on her wedding day.

Tavannach · 20/07/2020 02:00

Beatrice and her husband look radiantly happy, but I prefer the dress as the queen wore it with petticoats and no sleeves. I don't like the original bubble hem though.

I don’t like the length or the wide edging on hem, but apart from that I like it. It’s flattering on her figure, and not the usual ‘same old’ style. I like seeing wedding dresses that are a little different

1forAll74 · 20/07/2020 03:36

It's a lovely dress, and it's nice she wore the Queen's vintage one. she has a lovely figure and her whole look was perfect, and her new Husband looked great as well.

Erictheavocado · 20/07/2020 07:11

@EvilHerbivore
Yes, Zara's dress also had a wide band at the bottom. At the time I thought it was a bit out of kilter with the rest of the dress, but how I wonder whether it was because Zara chose a design that was already available, rather than bespoke, And this was a way to make it a bit more individual? That would also explain the little cap sleeves which made me think of the sort of thing some brides add to a sleeveless dress so as not to have uncovered shoulders in church. Given how down to earth she always seems, lit wouldn't surprise me.
FWIW, I really like Beatrice's dress. How lovely to have such a special link to her grandmother in both the dress and the tiara. I suspect that Beatrice had the wedding she really wanted - there had already been a lot of speculation about her wedding because it was reported she didn't want the full on 'royal wedding experience '. I felt sorry to her - I'd read that megxit caused a delay in announcing wedding details, then the awful Prince Andrew stuff was making it difficult to arrange a wedding that would not be overshadowed by protestors. The wedding she had avoided all that, allowed her to celebrate with her closest family including her dad, And neatly sidestepped the sideshow that would have occurred wet the inevitable speculation about whether h&m would attend. A good outcome for Beatrice all round.

Unfollowtherules · 20/07/2020 08:06

I thought it was really lovely and I liked the deep hem. Not sure about The colour though.

HappyDinosaur · 20/07/2020 08:08

I think she looks amazing, every bit the classic princess.

MrsNoah2020 · 20/07/2020 08:19

Personally I don't like it. I don't like Norman Hartnell's style generally, and I think this particular dress looked much better as an evening gown. I think the alterations make it look frumpy.

Having said that, she looked radiant and as if she felt a million dollar in it, which was lovely to see. I really liked the natural styling of her hair (if it counts as 'natural' with a huge diamond tiara in it Wink)

CallarMorvern · 20/07/2020 08:59

Thank you to those who posted the photos of the queen.
I much preferred Beatrice's adapted version, didn't like the puffball hem on the original, I liked the added hem and length.

Montysmam1 · 20/07/2020 09:07

Love the sentiment behind it, such a pretty dress that's been adapted beautifully, retro recycling at its best!

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 20/07/2020 09:11

Absolutely love everything about it.

The sentiment and whether it's intended or not , recycling a previously worn dress rather than us reading she's spent the equivalent of a 3 bed house on a dress when most people are struggling to pay their rent atm .
Well done Bea !

I like the new hem.

It looks like a 70's style peplum, which is everywhere at the moment. A very clever touch to bring it up to date.

OneFootintheRave · 20/07/2020 12:25

I LOVE it. And the way she had her hair. The tiara = stunning. The best royal bride outfit I have seen for a very long time. Way nicer than Kate's/Meghan's.

Who would have thought it? Of all the royals, she has made some of the most questionable style choices over the years. Not this time, someone with style must have been guiding here.

winterisstillcoming · 20/07/2020 12:34

I think she's actually realised it's better to be herself and not try too hard to dress to impress others. A sign she is truly happy.

Mominatrix · 20/07/2020 12:40

I love it, and I think it is demonstrates an apt reading of the current climate. It definitely would not have smelt of mothballs - I love vintage dresses and own/wear dresses from as far back as 1890 with not a whiff of mothball emanating from them. If I, in my relatively meager closet can manage this, I am certain that HRH the Queen with her resources can also manage this.

Bella2020 · 20/07/2020 12:57

I think Beatrice was absolutely stunning. A vintage dress seems in keeping with her personal, unique style, and what a vintage dress to pick! The sentiment behind wearing her Nanna's gown and tiara is lovely. Such a wonderful gesture, and from both sides.
