She looks stunning, and so lovely that the dress and tiara was leant to her by the queen ?

I love it (including the sleeves) but I’m not 100% sold on the bottom bit in the different fabric. I like that it’s not to the floor so she can walk easily. The tiara is beautiful and overall she looked stunning.

excelledyourself · 19/07/2020 23:03

She looks absolutely lovely. I really hope she had a fabulous day. She certainly deserves it.

I know the b&w photo probably doesn't show the shade properly, but Bea's version doesn't seem anywhere near so white? Has it been dyed too?

Blackcurrant66 · 19/07/2020 23:03

She looks like Alice in Wonderland

Irishgurl · 19/07/2020 23:05

When you look at the detail in this Norman Hartnell dress it seems so confusing that Meghan's dress was rumoured to have cost £100,000. It didn't have this level of craftsmanship. I suppose Meghan's veil had many hours of work so that added to the cost. I thought Beatrice looked amazing. The link to her Grandmother was just beautiful and so unexpected. The Mail were completely wrong in their guesses of who made the dress. Eugenie's dress was spot on too. Kate looked lovely but is a naturally easy girl to dress. The York girls just surpassed all expectations. They really got it right on their big days

joystir59 · 19/07/2020 23:06

She could have had something done with her hair though

saltycat · 19/07/2020 23:08

The best Royal Wedding ever IMO!

Everything looked great to me especially the magic smile from EDO, swoons! No pressure, no stress, so they could really enjoy it out of the gaze of many.

Goes to show that the big gigs are not necessarily the most enjoyable for wedding parties. I hope the trend continues. And wish them well.

Why? For whom?

She doesn't stand on ceremony. She wanted to look natural. She wanted to be herself.

You're reacting like my mum did hen I said I wasn't going to wear make up for my wedding. I'd never worn make up in my life. Why would I choose my wedding day to be the day I wasn't going to be me?

It’s nearly 60 years old so it may have changed colour a little, although a monochrome picture doesn’t give much indication of colour.

I'm not one to usually comment on royal threads but thought she looked really lovely. Such a pretty dress and stunning tiara.

Blackcurrant66 · 19/07/2020 23:12

It’s a second marriage for him (I think, he has a son anyway) so is off white considered more appropriate?

HandsDownRoundTheTown · 19/07/2020 23:14

Much prefer it with the sleeves and love the whole look. It’s fun and a bit glitzy (esp with the tiara) while also being traditional. She looks great and happy Smile

Leflic · 19/07/2020 23:17

Absolutely love it. And even more so that’s it’s borrowed. That’s so classy in a world where money is thrown around.

I was wondering what was left to wear in the wedding dress line. Kate nailed future queen, Meghan did a standout minimalist number, Eugenie somewhere in between and Bea raised the bar again.

Whose the next Royal in the firing line then, Louise?

mocktail · 19/07/2020 23:18

He wasn't married before although he does have a 4yo son.

notapizzaeater · 19/07/2020 23:19

His son was the best man 😍

Marcipex · 19/07/2020 23:19

I thought the deep hem effect was a bit incongruous. A bit like the summer dresses of my youth, with enormous hems to allow for growth.
The short sleeves would have been better an inch or so longer.
On the whole though, the effect was very pretty and natural and the tiara suited her perfectly.

Holothane · 19/07/2020 23:23

Lovely dress and wedding that arch of flowers 😊

Marcipex · 19/07/2020 23:23

Her hair looked nice. Do what with it?

excelledyourself · 19/07/2020 23:27

@notapizzaeater that's lovely. I bet Bea will make a fabulous SM. Strange for the mum though!

Josette77 · 19/07/2020 23:37

Love it! She looks perfect.

NotMeNoNo · 19/07/2020 23:43

If you read Angela Kelly's book, there is a floor of Buckingham palace and a team of designers dedicated to the Queens wardrobe. There won't be musty old closets. They made a design feature of adding length and sleeves (royal wedding protocol I guess) and did a great job. Pure class. Like Meghan's dress, the length/fit will have been intentional, they pay so much attention to detail.

MissMarplesHandbag · 19/07/2020 23:43

It’s beautiful, she looked fabulous, love the Queen lending her the tiara and dress. The flower arch was absolutely stunning too. Bea nailed it!

Suewiththeredford · 19/07/2020 23:44

Lovely! I bet it was really really Sparkley too but you can’t see that from the still photos.

I’d love to know how she came to wear it. Was she just rummaging at Grandma’s and saw a lovely glittery number?

I think the length is intentional, the band of fabric on the hem isn’t on the original and it’s clear that she’s not gone for the big underskirts, which will have affected the length too.

I hope she is happy for always.

CountessFrog · 19/07/2020 23:45

I think it’s beautiful

NotMeNoNo · 20/07/2020 00:01

I expect between PB and HM they had the idea/offer and the wardrobe team would have come up with a list of possibilities, unless she asked for that particular one. The Queens back catalogue of white gowns from the 50s and 60s is awesome.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/07/2020 00:03

I think it's a lovely dress. But I would've been tempted to shorten it to a ballerina length and 'puffed it out' with a hoopless tulle petticoat rather than trying to lengthen it with additional fabric. I think that goes better with the original 'style date' of the gown, which I believe is early '60s. I think it would match the 'look' of the sleeves better, too.

I read that the original dress was ivory, but it looks as if it's gotten a bit of a 'blush' with age. Gorgeous!
