Showering at night?

Does anyone else shower at night time instead of mornings? I've started to do this every day for the last month but hoping it's not gross?

So every night full shower wash hair and body fully and shave if necessary then in the morning I have more time to do other stuff with the family and if hair needs styling it's already dry so doesn't take near as long do mornings I just rinse face and do teeth but don't do private's as they were done the night before

I shower at night too. When my son settles down for the night I have a shower in peace. Don't see anything wrong with it.

MrsBudd · 17/07/2020 07:38

Not me, I can't face the day without a shower first thing and would feel unclean if I only showered at nigjt - but I know plenty of others do. So each to their own! 😊

Unfollowtherules · 17/07/2020 07:43

It’s fine although not quite the same. I sometimes bath and wash my hair at night but my hair is always better on the day it is washed.

Foxinthechickencoop · 17/07/2020 07:46

I shower at night and my husband does too. He does a very manual job and he stinks when he gets home! I always bath the kids at night too. It keeps your bedsheets nice and clean and fresher too. Washes the Grime of day away. And yes loads more time in the morning.

leolion1 · 17/07/2020 07:47

I usually shower at night because I feel grim after a day at work but shower again in the morning, I wouldn't feel clean in the day otherwise!

AvoidingRealHumans · 17/07/2020 07:51

I shower at night. So do morning shower people get into bed with all of the days sweat, dirt etc on them ?

Rumtopf · 17/07/2020 07:52

I normally shower at night as I'm either sweaty from exercise, gardening or DIY at the moment and my hair looks nicer if I plait it in a french braid and it dries like that.
I might shower again the following morning if we've had sex or it's been particularly hot or I've got my period and feel grotty.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of sliding into bed all clean with smooth, freshly shaved and moisturised legs.

theemmadilemma · 17/07/2020 07:56

I can't get going in the morning without a shower. But my Partner showers at night as a preference and I don't find it gross.

unkindnessofravens · 17/07/2020 07:59

I have a leisurely shower in the evening and wash my hair then have a quick shower when I get up wearing my trusty shower cap Grin

AWaspOnAWindowReturns · 17/07/2020 08:18

I shower, shave, wash hair etc in the evening just before bed, then a quick 2 or 3 minute shower everywhere except my head in the morning to freshen up (soap all over, quick rinse and out).

Puppymummy20 · 17/07/2020 08:37

I do both. Morning is a proper shower, almost always with hair wash, evening is a quick wash down before bed. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager and I feel a bit horrible if I don’t. I do worry about environmental impact but rationalise it by saying I never spend hours in the shower so overall probably not more than most people. If I’m away and can’t do 2 showers a day, eg staying at someone else’s house, I miss out the evening one.

I also can’t wear clothes for more than one day without washing them (except trousers and skirts, if I haven’t got sweaty). I think it’s a mild sensory issue.

I showered at night when the DC were small - just made the morning work/nursery routine a billion times easier. I prefer morning showers, as they wake me up properly, but IMO the cleanliness is the same.

mynameiscalypso · 17/07/2020 08:43

We only have one bathroom so it's convenient for me to bath/shower at night and DH to do it in the morning. Like others, I will sometimes have a quick shower in the morning if I need to freshen up but I like to wash my hair every day and it takes ages to dry

BackforGood · 17/07/2020 08:48

Of course it's not gross.
For most people it's not gross to not shower every day if you don't want to either. Some people are obsessed.
People sweat to different degrees - effected by all sorts of things from your weight to your activities to what you are eating to the weather to the clothes you wear. Not that many people get dirty from their daily activities (in terms of working in a coal mine type dirty).

Wannabegreenfingers · 17/07/2020 08:50

I'm a morning person, dont feel ready without a shower. I sweat at night and my hair goes all messy, a brush doesn't sort it out, only washing. I have a shower at night if its been a sweaty day I.e gardening etc. My morning shower takes 5 mins so it wouldn't save time showering at night only.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 17/07/2020 08:56

DH does this, it's not gross at all. My main reason for a morning shower is my hair! If I wash it the night before I have to dry it then and also straighten it in the morning; if I wash it in the morning I can just leave it to dry curly. Going to bed with wet hair, or even dry hair that is curly, just means in the morning I have a giant crazy bush on my head and need to tame it, and I can't face that most mornings.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 17/07/2020 08:56

When I worked 13 hr days I didn't get home until almost 9pm and left the house in the morning at 630am, so I always showered at night.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 17/07/2020 08:57

I love a night time shower, there's no better feeling than a nice shower and clean jymas! Even better with clean bedding

My hair takes forever to dry too so wouldn't have time for a morning shower (demanding 7 month old!)

CarolVordermansArse · 17/07/2020 08:59

Bath at night, shower in the morning. I don't use a lot of water for either but need to feel clean and not washing 'privates' that have been sweating all night is not pleasant.

Bouledeneige · 17/07/2020 09:01

It's beyond me why anyone would think it's gross. I often have a bath in the evening so I can relax and get sorted before going to sleep. People who are obsessed with showering in the morning are happy to go to bed dirty.

But I don't bath or shower everyday. I'm past menopause and don't really sweat.

TimeWastingButFun · 17/07/2020 09:02

In the morning but if I've been gardening or doing something else like that I'll have another one before bed. I can't not have a shower in the mornings because my hair is like a birds nest after I've slept on it so needs washing and conditioning.

fizzpopbang123 · 17/07/2020 09:11

? There are no rules to personal hygiene routines. Whatever makes you comfortable and suits your own cleanliness levels. For some that is shower, morning, evening or both. Some people only like baths, some stand up washes. Same as preferences for soap vs shower gel, using fresh towels after every use, fresh bedding every day...

Surely it also depends on what you do in the day? e.g. If you do manual labour all day, have worn sun cream on a boiling hot day, surely an evening shower makes sense whereas someone who has sat in a cool WFH office all day is less likely to feel the need?

allfalldown47 · 17/07/2020 09:14

Always shower at night, would hate to go to bed feeling grubby from the day. My hair looks better after washing it if it's sleep on, so that's another reason!

EBearhug · 17/07/2020 09:19

I prefer to wash the day away before bed.

Ghostlyglow · 17/07/2020 09:24

We don't have a shower. I bath at night because it takes too much time to bath in the mornings. I'd love to have a shower.
