How well do your Havaianas fit you?

I’ve just treated myself to several pairs of Havaianas flip flops (couldn’t decide which colour). I’ve never tried them before.

I’m trying the navy ones first. They are the right size, but the straps seem rather loose compared to my old cheapo flip flops.

Has anyone found this to be a problem, or are they comfy/useful despite that?

Honestly don't think they're worth the money.

Not great fitting and no different to cheap ones

peachypetite · 12/07/2020 12:08

You may be better with the skinny ones

Devlocopop · 12/07/2020 12:16

I had a pair from Costco and found them to be the most uncomfortable pair of flip flops. I just used them for the showers at the local pool but even then they hurt my feet so I gave them to charity.

Skechers are the most comfortable flip flops/trainers/sandals I have ever worn.

Ellapaella · 12/07/2020 12:17

I love mine and they've lasted me for years. I have wide feet though, you may be better with the slim fitting ones.

Terralee · 12/07/2020 12:18

Mine fit me really well, they're the slim fitting ones though.

Ellapaella · 12/07/2020 12:19

How comfortable you find flip-flops is very individual. My husband can't wear them at all and finds they rub and cause blisters. I've never had a single problem with mine, they are really comfy and I wear them all the time in summer.

rooarsome · 12/07/2020 12:32

They were ok, not the best nor the worst.

Mojitomogul · 12/07/2020 12:32

I love mine! But I didnt fit the ones you're in- found them too big. The slim fitting ones with the thinner straps fit perfectly and last me for years. You may be better off with them.

huuunderickssss · 12/07/2020 12:49

I size down but they look baggy on you but your toes are at the end .. 🤔

They are the only flip flops that I have ever found comfy. I can even go on a day out sight seeing in them. I have quite chunky wedges that are more substantial than the ones you show.

GracieLane · 12/07/2020 13:18

They are the only ones that fit me well but I have quite short wide flat feet.

bookish83 · 12/07/2020 13:20

I love them and have had the same pairs for years. I wear the slim ones though and they are way more comfortable than cheap ones x

Chatons · 12/07/2020 15:00

Boooo. I’m going to have to send them back. I’ll go for the slims next time (if I can be arsed with the faff!).

Thanks everyone, you’ve been really helpful.

I go thick straps and size down and they are bliss. 6 pairs and counting and I still have the original pair I bought in Sydney 12 years ago.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 12/07/2020 16:59

You should try Gumbies. Very comfortable

Darkestseasonofall · 12/07/2020 19:09

I loathe Havianas. I find they take an age to break in, the flip and flop about rathe than stay snug to the foot, I end up doing a toe scrunching move to keep them close.

PicklePig31 · 12/07/2020 19:15

Size down for the Brazilian flag ones. Fit perfectly.

The slim ones were awful for me.

PicklePig31 · 12/07/2020 19:16

Got my first pair from Buenos Aires over a decade ago. Still have them!

ramarama · 12/07/2020 19:48

I size down a size too. I like the thick ones and have fairly wide feet.

I've recently bought a pair of Archies - arch support and a bit tighter strap, so you don't need to scrunch your toes. I'm really pleased with the fit (they look a lot like Havaianas too) And no, this is not an ad!! :-)

L4uz · 12/07/2020 21:41

I love mine! I have 3 pairs and they're like slippers. If we had the weather for them I'd wear them constantly, worth every penny :)

AlphaJura · 13/07/2020 08:18

I'm normally a 4/5 uk shoe size. I bought some Brazilian flag ones a couple of years ago and they fit fine, size 37-38. I was also given some, size 35-36 and they also fit fine. I was going to give them to my dd but I've been wearing them! So I would say definitely size down. I find all flip flops can take some breaking in, but then they're fine. Some people don't get on with them atall. I find the cheapo ones dead comfortable, but they only last one season, the haivainas are harder wearing. Nothing worse than having a flip flop fail on a summer holiday or day trip!

Chatons · 13/07/2020 11:22

Sizing down won’t work for me, as my feet cover the whole length of the soles in my size. It’s the straps that are too long, with this basic style at least. My feet are quite narrow though.

Who knew it would be so complicated?

i love them but only ever tried the slim ones. my feet are average width but I have a high instep

Northernlass99 · 13/07/2020 15:54

I can't wear them. I have narrow feet though. But even the plastic rubs and gives me blisters. TBH I am not sure why they are so popular.
