Need a product to scrunch into my natural curly hair to get rid of fuzz??

My hair is naturally quite curly but very frizzy. Not tight curls, quite loose. My hair is dry and I’m trying to get it into a better condition with hair masks etc. I want to not dry and straighten my hair as much (currently every day). I don’t do the curly girl method as it looks awful so please don’t suggest it. I just want a product I can scrunch in when it’s wet to define the curls and get rid of fuzz but when I can get rid of fuzz it’s just a sticky, crunchy mess!! Can anyone recommend a specific product for this please?

Cantu define and shine custard on soaking wet hair. It’s lovely and my mad, frizzy hair loves it. It’s very thick, so only a tiny bit needed.

When those of you mention sopping wet, do you mean in the actual shower and don’t put a towel on head?

Yes. I never use a towel on my hair. I apply product when it’s dripping wet and then squeeze up the curls using the Boucleme Curl ‘Towel’ (which is just T-shirt material) and then dry with a diffuser.

@Wonderingwhyme

What sort of consistency is the cantu curl cream please?
It is quite thick and sticky @Wonderingwhyme. So you really don't need a lot. Which means it lasts ages! It comes in a tub and you need to scoop a bit. It isn't pourable.

I second the boots pink curl creme.
My hair is like Jess Glynnes though...
I also use shockwaves curl & waves mousse. I've used it for years!

A trick with curls/ waves is a good conditioner when washing.

My daughter has hair like this. I put some frizz ease in once her hair is semi dry. It seems to do a good job.

redorbed · 06/07/2020 09:36

I would say frizz ease my sister is the same and it works for her

Beamur · 06/07/2020 09:44

My hair is wavy rather than curly. I use John Frieda too, the moisturiser shampoo and conditioner. For frizz they also do a nice light creme that is pretty good. I don't like to wash my hair daily so don't use many products.
But I do find a squirt of argon oil is good, smooths it down and is quite moisturising. Or if you can bear a bit of crunch for a day, a salt spray for me gives a nice effect.
I usually blow dry my fringe for precisely the reason you've given, but leave the rest to dry naturally. Takes a while to dry though.

Wonderingwhyme · 07/07/2020 21:33

Can I just check, those suggesting frizz ease, do you Mean the clear bottle one? There’s a few?

I hate my hair dried with a diffuser, looks awful. Just more frizzy with less curl!

Which garnier hair food do you mean?
Last time I was in Superdrug there were a few different types

LightOfAThousandStars · 08/07/2020 00:19

Same hair type here, I've tried the curly girl method and didn't get on with it either. Aussie Curl Serum works really well to add lightweight definition and smoothes away frizz. Another recent purchase that I am liking is Argan Oil Mist.

It’s a bit more expensive than some brands mentioned here but I really like Aveda Be Curly curl cream

Right so curl cream from boots isn’t a goer, makes my hair feel craggy. I have hask argan oil and I like it but doesn’t help when my hairs curly, only when I straighten it.

Onto the next product 🙄

Another vite for Cantu, my curly hair was a frizzy mess for years due to straightening! I now wear my hair curly all the time and get so many compliments on the curls

BinkyBoinky · 08/07/2020 17:08

Banana Hair Food. Love it. I use it on ends of my dry hair to refresh on inbetween wash days. It gets rid of frizz and moisturises the ends and revives my curls somewhat. You can use it wet too, but i prefer not to refresh with water on 2nd/3rd day hair as it just increases frizz IME. I have fine, frizzy, wavy hair.

I've been using this for best part of a year and I swear I have been getting fewer split ends lately. It's all about the moisturisation.

Mostpeculiar · 08/07/2020 17:16

Has anyone recommended understanding your curl type ie my curls are classified as 3a . I like ouidad styling products my curls are classed as classic I used the climate control gel for years and liked it then they brought out a stronger hold which I have been using but decided it’s too strong for my fine hair. Now I’m using the featherlight cream and really like it it’s a bit more moisturising than the gel which my dry hair likes

Beforetoday · 08/07/2020 17:16

Vote for Cantu here. Leave in conditioner then the curl crime while still wet. The curl cream is sticky and dry quite crunchy, but with a bit of styling it looks great. Natural, defined curls. After years of frizz my hair is in great condition.

Wonderingwhyme · 08/07/2020 17:56

I’m between a 2b and 2c..... it’s hard to describe (no I’m not posting a pic as just brushed it out after putting the boots stuff Blush ) some of my hair is a real nice ringlet curl, other bits will randomly be straighter so they aren’t uniform ‘curls’. When I put product in and actively try to encourage my natural rather than straighten, the bottom of my hair (long hair) is huge but flatter on my roots. When I straighten my hair it isn’t flat on the top...

OP I have tried so many products since I stopped blow drying my hair a year ago - at all price points. My curls are a mix of tight and looser ones, hair is quite fine but I have a lot of it.

What i have found to work is the Garnier banana food mask and the John Frieda curl revive. I'm getting soft, firzz free curls, though i have to wash my hair more often.

maverickallthetime · 08/07/2020 18:05

I think I'm going to give up with curly girl as I look shit and ungroomed every day! Will look into some of these suggestions here

Wonderingwhyme · 08/07/2020 18:37

@VoteLabia yes I have fine hair but a lot of it too!!

@maverickallthetime no I certainly don’t feel groomed when my hair is Not straightened but I want to change that!

I use TIGI Catwalk Curls oat and honey shampoo followed by L’Oreal Serie Expert Absolut Repair Gold Mask conditioner. Also use a scalp serum, Pura D’or energising hair serum and a Dove Argan hair oil to smooth. I have fine, Celtic hair, so I don’t use a hair dryer, just let hair dry naturally, smoothing curls with fingers.

LightOfAThousandStars · 10/07/2020 11:31

OP if you are still looking I tried the Frizz Ease Weightless Wonder Smoothing Crème off the recommendation from this thread and it's very good on my waves, super lightweight like a leave in and not crunchy at all. I love trying new things that work so this is a great new find.
