What are the top five most worn items in your wardrobe?

For the last couple of years I've been committed to spending most of my clothes budget on items that get the most everyday wear. Today I was trying to work out which things get worn on an almost daily basis and whether I've been successful in investing my money in the right places.

At the moment (in the middle of Australian winter!) my five most frequently worn items are:

Black cashmere crew neck jumper
Black duck down parka
High waisted slim-fitting blue jeans
Black leather ankle boots
Slouchy black leather tote bag

They aren't necessarily my favourite items or the ones I think are the most stylish, but they're the ones that are getting down to pennies per wear!

What are yours?

the merino dress is this one, from Icebreaker. I wear it constantly, as a t-shirt, under tunics, as a mini dress on its own. In Summer and in Winter it is constantly in use. Great with a scarf, great on the beach.

Icebreaker tshirt dress

Guineapigbridge · 29/06/2020 23:54

Merino cami : Cami

I wear one of these every day. Warm but never hot and never sweaty. They never smell because they're merino.

Blue skinny jeans
Black scoop neck t shirt
Ankle boots or sandals dependent on weather
Long sleeved spotty cotton dress
V neck cotton floral dress

I tend to avoid the clothes in my wardrobe that are synthetic even if they're gorgeous because they don't feel as nice on.

Nike Capri leggings (black)
Vest top (various bright colours)
Nike short sleeve zip up hoody (black)
Mid blue skinny jeans
Zara relaxed fit T-shirt's

torthecatlady · 30/06/2020 05:48

Thick black leggings.
Mustard shirt dress.
Corduroy burgundy pinafore dress.
Skinny jeans with a really soft jumper.

All were really cheap items and have been worn to death. Weirdly I do have more expensive clothes that never get worn.

Sgtmajormummy · 30/06/2020 06:20

It’s summer, so:
Column dresses of different lengths, fabric and neckline.

Sheenais · 30/06/2020 06:29

I am going to be wfh until the end of the year at least, so I just spent a fortune on silk pajamas. I don’t turn my camera on.

Casino218 · 30/06/2020 06:53

Hush blue star t shirt
Hush black star t shirt
Hush lounge pants
Next next crew sweater
Moses sliders

@torthecatlady I used to have the same problem! I was spending the most money on things that rarely got worn, and not really investing in the things that get thrashed every day! I feel much more put-together now that I do the opposite. I don't mean I buy diamond-encrusted trainers or anything; just that if I'm going to wear t-shirts nine days out of ten, I make sure they're really nice quality t-shirts that fit well and suit me etc. and I prioritise spending on the t-shirts instead of a dress for a wedding or whatever.

Great thread!

Varies seasonally but right now (in weird changeable summer):

Hush leopard print ‘cropped’ leggings (mid-calf)
Various identikit black cotton or viscose dresses, sack style, from H&M mostly
Geox trainers (white in summer, dark in winter)
Linen shorts in dark neutrals mostly H&M again
Pretty viscose tops, mostly Monsoon, in summer colours, with the shorts.

Am 43 and wfh. I like to be comfortable (and keep cool, I overheat easily) but like to look as if I’ve made an effort. Loose sack dresses are best for this for my shape (tall, no curves), I repeat buy them and adore them.
