Fat face

What do we all think of fat face? I find myself drawn to their pieces recently. Is that because I've put on weight and they dress a uk size 14 well or because I've become mumsy (no gunning for me for use of that word - we all know what I mean!!).

Not a lot of love on MN for Fat face op! Whenever I’ve seen it mentioned it’s usually referred to as ‘middle aged’ and ‘frumpy’. I buy the occasional thing from there and find the quality and cut to be good. I’m 50, so suppose I am middle aged but obviously wouldn’t wear it if I thought it was frumpy! FF produce things that suit my style and I really like some of their t-shirts and jeans etc. Some of it I wouldn’t ever wear such as the dungarees and ‘popover’ smock tops as this type of thing just isn’t me. Age has little to do with it though. I have colleagues in their 20s and 30s who wear FF and other so called ‘mumsy’ brands such as Sea salt and White Stuff. I think you have to find clothes that suit you and will make you feel good when you wear them. For example, I would feel like a complete tit if I wore anything from the much coveted Toast or Cos! Not knocking those who love the brand, but their styling just isn’t me, so there’s no way I would feel comfortable wearing it. You sound like you’re going through a ‘transition’ stage, and it may take lots of trial and error to rediscover your style and what suits you, but I would suggest not ruling out a particular brand because it’s perceived as ‘mumsy’ by some.

I've got a couple of things I really like from there, mostly dresses and white cotton summer tops. There's also plenty in there that I wouldn't be seen dead in!

Fabrics generally have gone downhill in there - there used to be lots of cotton and now it's mostly viscose, some of which is okay and some of which is that horrible scratchy stuff.

Sizing is weird and inconsistent - I can be anything from a ten to a 16 in there.

Winnerella · 22/06/2020 21:46

Im warming up to them too but that is because i never go out.

I go to work and that's it. Fatface dont do going out clothes really.

CherryPavlova · 22/06/2020 21:50

Good beach holiday wear.

Winnerella · 22/06/2020 21:50

@Maisiecow agree, i have a few tops and a pink denim jacket from fatface this season. I like them lately. I am 50 as well and dress well. Balancing fashion with what flatters

Ellapaella · 22/06/2020 21:55

I've just ordered a lovely pair of tan sandals from fat face. I quite like some of their clothes but I'm between sizes and nothing hangs right on me.
I buy a lot of the dc clothes from fatface as I think they are great quality and last for ages.

forrandomposts · 22/06/2020 21:57

I'm in my 20s and not a mum and love fat face! They're great for knitwear and jumpers to go with jeans. Plus their jewellery is nice.

Appuskidu · 22/06/2020 21:59

I love Fat Face!

bubblesforlife · 22/06/2020 21:59

I bought some fab hoodies, a white shirt and a couple of knit jumpers there recently.
I highly rate Fat Face. I’m 29, size XS in Fat Face.
Some of their stuff is not suited to me, but for casual items, the quality is very high.
I mean, I like Zara too, but only 10% of their clothes actually suit me...
Same as Fat face.

Maisiecow · 22/06/2020 22:01

Yes, agree. Like many retailers nowadays, they do sometimes let a few inferior quality garments into their range, and still charge their usual prices! I recently ordered a dress which looked lovely on the website. When it arrived, it was essentially a cheap viscose sack with a ‘tie waist’, i.e. a bit of string attached around the middle offering a vague attempt at shape! Their T-shirts, shorts and jeans though, I have so far found to be good quality, cut well and consistent in sizing (so maybe they’re just good for basics).

OntheWaves40 · 22/06/2020 22:03

I love Fat Face but I have not style to be fair...or beauty 😂

IndecentFeminist · 22/06/2020 22:07

It used to be pretty cool 20 years ago, now less so. Some good basics, I like their Bretons, hoodies etc. Kids stuff is really good.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 22/06/2020 22:20

Used to love them but their stuff is the same year on year. But their jumpers and body warmers are good quality.

woodhill · 22/06/2020 22:22

I like it and my dds in their 20s also buy the odd thing.

Their tops are nice, don't care if they are considered frumpy

VanGoghsDog · 22/06/2020 22:22

I wear a lot of their basic long sleeved round or v neck t shirts, sometimes two at a time.

I've just got some nice coulottes too.

I quite like them, but not the dresses, they are too twee.

Poppyismyfavourite · 22/06/2020 22:24

I like it but find it pretty expensive for what it is. Eg £40 for a jersey dress!! I feel like Dorothy perkins is a similar style but a lot more reasonably priced.
Ebay is pretty good for second hand stuff though.

PonderLand · 22/06/2020 22:30

I like fat face. I got the Sussex jacket half price before lock down and I'd had my eye on it for a while. I go to the outlet and I always find something I like. Their scarves, sandals, bags are all nice and some dresses if they're a bit more fitted.

JaniceBattersby · 22/06/2020 22:34

The quality of their clothes is excellent. I’m not keen on some of the ‘fun’ prints (althoughI don’t find them to be as twee as Joules or White Stuff) but I have found trousers and jackets in particular to be superb value for money. I wear stuff from there for years and it goes out of fashion before it wears out.

Their children’s clothes are also great. All my kids have fat face hoodies and T-shirts.

LellyMcKelly · 22/06/2020 22:46

Fat Face just looks like you’ve given up and gone to live on a farm.

millymoo1202 · 22/06/2020 22:48

I just received an order today and returned everything, dress was huge and jeans too small but I am going to to re order them as good quality but they are £50!

Samtsirch · 22/06/2020 22:51

I buy from Fat face and have found them to be great quality, gorgeous clothes.
Some of their stuff is frumpy, some is hideous but some of it is really lovely and stylish. I suppose it depends on what suits you and what your taste is.
Then again, I would absolutely love to go and live on a farm.😊

Baaaahhhhh · 22/06/2020 22:59

Me and my teen girls buy quite a bit in there esp. In the sales. Sox and pants are great, good quality, and last. Sleepwear likewise. Teen DD likes their floaty trousers. I buy a lot of their dresses, the fitted ones, as they seem to be the only brand that has elastic side panels, and as I am a small size 10/12 with size 18 boobs, it's the only place I can find a dress. I get quite a few tops there too.

Fidgety31 · 22/06/2020 23:20

I always think Fat Face is very Mumsy and boring unattractive looking clothes - but I’m sure they suit some people as we all have different tastes.

Winnerella · 22/06/2020 23:31

I bought these recently and was happy when they arrived. I wear casual clothes to work.

I would dress up to go out.

People do understand the clothes are casual clothes!
