What trainers with floaty skirts?

I'm mid 40's and have lots of nice floaty mid calf length skirts and dresses- pastel
Blue with pastel Colour print, mint green. denim skirts/dresses, khaki skirts/dresses and I usually wear them with sandals but if it's cold I want to wear trainers instead but what would go? Navy converse (although not sure about white toe but) Something better and would go better? I'm 5'4 and size 16-18 and got wide (fat) feet and don't suit anything delicate/pretty. Thanks

Stan Smiths, or Stan Smiths a like.
Whistles /Jigsaw / John Lewis all have great white trainers.

I wear Vans or Converse with everything in the summer (and docs in winter)

I have just bought a some white TOMs trainers to go with skirts. I resisted the look for a while, but it’s everywhere so I now bought in.

KingCatMeowInSpace · 21/06/2020 10:09

Do you think it has to be white? Never when white anything

'Worn' not 'when'!

I wear lace up tennis shoes/pumps with skirts and dresses but I usually match my shoes with my bag (A habit I picked up from my Mum)

KingCatMeowInSpace · 21/06/2020 10:26

Any use or too chunky? They're Gola ones from John Lewis??

I love the skechers Go Walk. Very comfortable, light & not too chunky. I currently have 2 pairs, one in navy & the other rose gold (pink).

KingCatMeowInSpace · 21/06/2020 10:32

Or these? Or any other colours that you think would go?

I also wear Stan Smiths with these kind of skirts. The Gola ones you've posted seem pretty similar - I think they'd be fine!

nightlantern · 21/06/2020 10:34

Meant to add that I tend to stick to white as the main colour of the trainers as it's easier to pair with different things, but pops of colour (like the Golas) are nice if you ask me :) I actually really like the colour of those.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 21/06/2020 10:37

Attached pictures. The turquoise is the Go Walk 4. The pink is the Skech Air

I'm liking these but I see they come with yellow, silver and blue pop of colour above

I wear Stan smiths and have them in white and also a cream suede. Nike internationalists also look good, I have some burgundy ones that look amazing.

GrumpyHoonMain · 21/06/2020 11:38

I think at your size wearing trainers with a midi skirt could make you look dumpy. Try boating shoes or canvas plimsolls instead.

Saz42 · 21/06/2020 11:39

Ooh I love those Gola Classics with yellow. I wear my white leather converse with pretty dresses. In fact I wear them with everything.

GrumpyHoonMain · 21/06/2020 11:39

Yacht shoes not boating lol

Patch23042 · 21/06/2020 11:41

Love those Gola ones!

Like others, I wear Stan Smiths.

JesmondDene · 21/06/2020 11:43

I have pale grey 'Stan Smith' which go with everything as a neutral. I just can't do white - especially new white iyswim

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/06/2020 11:44

Stan Smiths, Vejas, Nike Roshe, Gazelles. I like those Gola trainers, but not keen on the Skechers personally.

screwthedoldrums · 21/06/2020 11:49

I'm the same height and weight as you OP. Obviously we may carry our weight in different places but I don't think floaty skirts and trainers is a good look for our dimensions.

acatcalledjohn · 21/06/2020 12:01

I like the Gola shoes for looks, but I had a canvas pair last year and they fell apart very quickly. They lasted less than a year.

Converse Allstars go well with dresses/skirts.

MrDarcysMa · 21/06/2020 12:22

I would go white stan smiths, or veja or superega but I find the SS more comfortable and last longer x

KingCatMeowInSpace · 21/06/2020 12:56

Yes don't want to look dumpy as I'm small and round lol
